I am sipping my coffee when Jonathan enters the kitchen.
"I am guessing all went well down there." I murmur placing my cup down at the kitchen island.
"That's why I am the best." he smirks.
"Coffee?" I offer.
While I pour him a cup, Raveena enters the kitchen.
"Does anyone have advil?" she asks.
"Good morning to you too Raveena." Jonathan watches her.
"Piss off Jonathan." she glares. I give Jonathan his cup of coffee.
"Maybe you shouldn't get yourself drunk next time."
"I am not in the mood for lectures." she groans.
"I have some in my cabinet upstairs." I inform.
"Now that wasn't hard." Raveena rolls her eyes before she exits the kitchen.
"Still got a soft spot for her." Jonathan makes a statement rather than a question. I am not entitled to answer to him so I drink my coffee.
"She looks better now." I glance at Jonathan.
I have to admit Raveena looks better than she did two years ago. She was in a bad place when she left here. I even thought the world out would eat her alive. Guess I underestimated the person she is.
A loud thud immediately gets my attention.
"Be right back." I rush upstairs to my room. It is slightly open so when I open it, I am not surprised to find Raveena. What shocks me is what is in her hand. Shit.
"I can't believe you still have this with you." She turns around to face me.
"I told you it was a prank." Raveena frowns.
"I know." She dodges my hand when I go to tug the cuffs out of her hands. I send her a warning look she ignores. Instead she cuffs her hands.
"I told you the advil was in the cabinet in the bathroom not my drawer." I narrow my gaze.
"I couldn't help myself." she shrugs a wide smirk etched her lips. I don't know what she finds funny because none of what is happening is funny.
"I hope at least you have put them to good use." She wiggles her brow teasingly.
"Raveena." I warn stepping towards her.
"Did the women you use it on like it."
That will do it. I quickly step towards her grabbing her cuffed hands.
"No." She fights against my hands. With all her fighting, she sends us falling down on the bed me on top of her.
This escalated really fast is all I can think of.
We lock stares, mine a glare, hers a wide smirk. For a few seconds we lie in the same position until my mind registers what is going on. Raveeena handcuffed, me on top of her. The whole scene looks so wrong.
My attempt to get off her fails when she snakes her cuffed hands around my neck. Fuck.
"I am still glad you kept them. They cost me a fortune." she jokes. She holds me tighter when I attempt to move again.
"Raveena."
I am going to believe she doesn't know what she's entirely doing. This position, her body this close to mine does things to me. The things I would love to keep for myself. Now with my body wedged between her thighs, it is not helping my mind.
My eyes rake over her face fighting back the urge to remove the hands holding my entire weight from her body and cradle her face. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life. Nothing has changed that in the eleven years I have known her.
When I find myself staring at her lips, I have the urge to just say fuck it. Then I remember that it is Raveena. She is not like any of the other women that are ready to throw themselves at my feet any chance they get. She sees me as her best friend let alone his brother.
A tinge of emotions fills my heart. I slowly release her hands and with all the will power left in me, I step off of her.
"Yesterday, you told me I reminded you of Ethan." I mutter putting distance between us so I can think properly.
"Did I?" It is her turn to become uncomfortable.
"Yes. You also told the bartender that I was your big brother."
"Overprotective, giving orders, all of it screams big brother." she replies.
Hearing her say it once again makes my ears bleed. I have never been her older brother and I don't plan to start now.
"Just so you know, I am not your brother Raveena."
"Take your advil. Plus I don't expect you snooping in my things ever again." I say. I watch her exit my room before I make a loud sigh. That was so close. I gaze at the hand cuffs on the bed. It reminds me of my twenty first birthday. Raveena had gifted it to me as a prank. She thought it was stupid and funny. I on the other hand had so many thoughts in head, some I wish she never knows.
I pick them up putting them back in the drawer and exiting my room. I need to find Aaron.
Aaron is in the garage when I find him. After screwing the nut under the car, he comes back out. Jonathan emerges inside the room along with Elis.
"Got anything useful yet?" Aaron addresses Jonathan.
"I have to say it was hard getting information out of her." Jonathan remarks.
"She said someone hired her. It was an anonymous hire and she is a money hungry bitch her words not mine."
"So she doesn't know who hired her?" I ask.
"Apparently no. But they made the first installment to her account."
"We could trace back to the sender then." Ellis says.
"Yes. But how are we going to do that?"
Immediately a loud noise sounds just outside having us rush out the room. The scene before me has me frowning. Raveena is straddling freaking Dylan on the ground. Maybe she is not straddling him but the whole position has me seething inside. She is smiling down at him while he holds her waist.
"Dylan." Aaron calls before I have chance to interrupt.
"Sorry babe, Alpha calls." Dylan winks when he finally acknowledges us. I know he knew we were there. He is still a little fucker like always.
"Aaron." Dylan hugs him. Aaron holds him tighter. I had a feeling he missed them. Dylan greets all the others and stops before me flashing me his signature smirk, the one that pisses me off.
"El." he smiles genuinely pulling me in an embrace. I slowly hug him back. I love him just he is a menace sometimes.
"I missed you, you know." he confesses.
"And so did I."
"Aren't I welcome here anymore?" A feminine voice catches our attention.
"Lyla!" Raveena mutters surprised.
"Come here girl." Lyla holds Raveena against her.
"I didn't know you were coming." Raveena sends me a narrowed look of accusation.
"I wanted to surprise you." Lyla smiles.
"You indeed surprised me."
"Sap boys." Lyla greets happily.
"Look at you now. You've grown since the last time I saw you." Aaron welcomes.
"Which is a year Aaron. A lot can change in a year."
"I agree. I mean look at Rave. I almost didn't recognize her."
"And I hope it is a good thing."
"Babe, you look gorgeous. Don't you see how I can't take my eyes off you."
"Knock it off." I intervene.
"Someone is jealous. Afraid of a little competition El?" Dylan dares. I watch him with a neutral expression.
"The only thing you should be worried about is me kicking your ass Dylan."
"We will have to see about that."
Is that a threat? It is hard to tell with the smirk on his face. The important point is that he is here and a computer genius. He can be of great help in our search.
