Chapter 5 Party (2)

'Easy my foot.'

I inwardly snort at my drunk best-friend jumping and screaming on the dance floor under the disco lights. The minute we stepped into this party, Stephanie seemed to have a nose for the bar because she managed to navigate through the drunk and high noisy crowd directly to the bar, while holding my hand.

Stephanie was quite popular among other department so It wasn't a surprise when she greeted some students on our way to the bar. On the other hand, I remained quiet and followed her like a chick trailing after its mother hen.

My outfit was simple maroon long sleeves dress, quite decent and elegant. When Stephanie pulled out this dress for me, I was very shocked because I have worn much worse than this to her parties.

In her words, I am a to-be mother, so I must show my unborn child how to be decent-looking at parties.

On the other hand, Stephanie's outfit was a jean shorts with crop top and boots. Her tattoos were on her belly and shoulder out in display.

Typical Stephanie with her hot and crazy looks.

'She can handle herself alright.' I laugh lightly at Stephanie who slapped a guy's hand inching to her waist and gave him a middle finger.

''Do you need more water?'' The bartender asks and I silently shake my head in response, taking my eyes off Stephanie and gulped down some water from the red plastic cup. Before moving to the dance floor, Stephanie had ordered some strong wine for herself and plain water for me.

'It's really noisy.' I unconsciously bob my head to the nice beat of the music, and somewhat appreciated the noise. Normally, noise and I were like water and fire, but now....I needed that noise for the sake of sanity.

Just something to shift my mind away from my thoughts and life.

''Why hello there.'' Someone greets me from the side, and I turn my head to a lady in a short and glittering silver gown on the stool. ''Haven't we meet before? You face seems quite familiar.'' She smiles with her red cup.

I shake my head and deny her claims with a small 'no'

If the person here was a man, I would have inwardly gagged at his pick-up lines that have been used for ages. But, this was a lady, probably a student like me from a different department.

''Really? I'm sure that I have indeed met you in the past.'' The lady furrows her eyebrows in thoughts. ''Oh dear, my old memories must be failing me quite a bit.'' She giggled lightly and took a sip of her drink.

''......''

Old?

At the strange word, I stare at the lady weirdly. I couldn't but help eye her outfit to see where this old was coming from.

Just when I decide to end the conversation quite politely, her eyes suddenly lit up and she exclaimed quite loudly. ''Aha! You're the gal whose future I read, the one with a twin sister.''

Twin sister?

Now that got my attention.

''You met my twin sister?'' I carefully ask, deliberating if I should label this lady as one with lost screws. Only fortune-tellers claim to speak of futures and they were outright scammers, collecting people's money with fake words of the future.

''Oh? You're her twin?'' The lady suddenly grins in mysterious manner, and immediately inch her face closer to mine. I retreated a bit to avoid her alcoholic breath with a small frown on my lips. Did this lady not understand the meaning of personal space or was she that drunk?

She met my displeased eyes that widened slightly at the flicker of a purple light in her own eyes. Am I see things or was I drunk from the smell of alcohol?

''You really don't look like that gal, but your features are quite similar.'' She leaned back with stare on me. ''I remember she has blonde hair. Fraternal twins, perhaps? Now, that I look at you more clearly, your fate is a little different from its original course with obstacles here and there.'' The lady chuckles in amusement, sipping more of her drink.

''......''

Blonde hair.

My twin sister definitely had blonde hair that always seemed to shine gold. I have always been quite envious of such beautiful and luscious hair.

But...my twin sister has hardly stepped out in the human society alone. There were times my father took us out there, and I remember my twin sister did not seem interested in humans in general.

The only time I remember that my sister was interested in the human society was on the day of that incident.

So, how did my twin sister meet this strange lady?

''As expected, the smell of an Alpha terribly stinks, especially from a child with a mix of beta female and a strong Alpha.'' She waves her hand in front of her nose as though dismissing a scent. ''Quite a sturdy fellow you have there, Luna.'' Her words lace with hints of mischievousness.

I choke on my water at the unexpected words of the lady, and carelessly drop my red cup that falls to the ground. The remaining water splashes on my maroon dress, but I pay no mind to the damage.

''Hey, you alright?'' My ears caught on some words of concerns, but I did not care about them except this lady before my gaze.

''Y-You...'' I stare wide-eyed with a hoarse voice while coughing in my hands. How did you know? I wanted to ask, but my choking coughs prevented from doing so, and the lady immediately bid her farewell with a mischievous wave.

''Bye-bye!''

''W-Wait...'' I struggled to stand up and chased after the figure of the lady through the noisy crowd.

''Hey!''

''What the heck?''

''Watch it!''

''Rude!''

I push through the drunk bodies and even stepped on some shoes with excuse me and apologies here and there. However, my eyes were focused on the fading figure of the strange lady amid the noisy crowd.

I was sure this lady was human from her scent. She also did not carry the scent a werewolf like Logan did, so how was she aware of werewolves, especially my unborn child whom I have yet to reveal his or her existence to anyone asides my best friends?

''W-Wait...'' I pant with my hand in the air, hoping for the lady to stop escaping from my view, but it appeared she did not want to be caught.

''A-Aha....'' I try to catch my breath with my hands now on my knees. Right now, I cannot tell if the lady was within range, or even in the frat party. Perhaps my energy was a bit drained that I suddenly feel lighthearted, and my steps turned wobbly.

''Woah! Hey! Hey, you okay?'' My head falls lightly on a chest and a light musky scent wafts to my nose. This person already grabbed my shoulder and tried to balance my stumble. Using the opportunity of balance, I manage to calm myself and look up gratefully.

''Thank you.'' I say, freeing myself from his hold, and intended to walk past him, only to realize that I am in quiet corridor with few people. I also sensed curious glances in my way, and immediately understood that I have caused a bit of commotion.

'Why did you humiliate like this?!' I need to knock some sense into my overreacting self from a moment ago.

''Are you lost?'' The same person asks, probably seeing the mixture of confusion and embarrassment on my face.

I quickly nod, ''Yes please.''

He laughs lightly at fast answer and gestures forward with his head. ''Come on. I'll take you back.''

''Thank you.'' I sigh in relief that this person was not like the freaks from Stephanie's dark stories of the frat parties. Though, I could be wrong if he doesn't direct me to the main party, but if this human tries to any funny games, it wouldn't take much strength from me to render him unconscious.
