Chapter 4 FOUR

Chapter 4

Zafrix stared into her eyes, which were full of hidden resentment. He felt confused. He understood what she meant, but he couldn't figure out the reason behind her hatred for him. But he was very willing to uncover everything, while he got rid of every resistance she used as a wall to defend herself from him.

"I will do everything for that to happen," she said and pulled away when he least expected it.

Sofia stood in front of him and stepped back a few paces. She immediately felt a longing to be touched by him again. She shook her head. She shouldn't be thinking that about this man.

"Go on..." he said. Sofia was surprised by his words. He also stood from the couch. "I love challenges. And it's exciting to see whatever it is you're planning to do. But..." He took a step forward and towered over her.

Sofia suppressed the urge for her feet to retreat and bravely met his gaze.

"There will be a consequence if you fail and if I win this game..."

Her eyes narrowed, not liking what he said. Her mind screamed at her to stop what she was planning because she would only get into trouble. Besides, there was the fact that she was his beloved.

"You will be dead even before that happens," she told him firmly. "I will make sure of that."

Zafrix smirked. His eyes glinting with malice, completely challenged by her defiance.

"We'll see, Marianne..."

She glared up at him. How much did she want to punch this man's face? A light bulb went up her head, an idea just popped into her mind. Marianne smirked and bit her lower lip. It was indescribable how much she hated this man. But she needs to do everything for revenge, doesn't she? She's really willing to do everything. Everything. Oh, how she would love to scratch those pretty little eyes of his.

Sofia looked up at Zafrix with a fake innocent look and saw him watching her bite her lower lip. She then walked around him and sat back on the couch. She could feel him watching her every move. She stretched her legs on the seat and comfortably lay on the couch.

She avoided looking at her appearance. She was still wearing her torn dress, which clearly showed her full breasts, as well as her ripped skirt. She knew that she had never tried to seduce any man before. But she was willing to do everything for the sake of her revenge. If she had to pretend to be innocent or whatever just to attract him, she would do it. She closed her eyes.

"If I were you, whatever you are planning... don't go through with it," he cut into her train of thought. His voice was still cold. It was obvious he had read on her face that she was planning something.

She smiled internally when she heard the low growl while he spoke.

"I don't know what you are talking about," she said in a seemingly sleepy voice.

"Don't forget that I have already warned you..."

That was the last thing she heard before she felt the air brush against her skin. She didn't know where he went. She huddled to the side of the sofa and thought. She didn't know how she would get him to be attracted to her. She knew about the beloved connection. Her aunt said that was the only destiny for a werewolf. When she asked her again about it, she didn't answer anymore. So, out of curiosity, she looked for answers.

She rummaged through the things she had salvaged before she and her sibling escaped. She looked for a picture of her parents. Every time she saw it, anger for Zafrix Wolfe would resurface in her chest. She truly wanted to take revenge on him for what he did.

After a while, she didn't even realize she had fallen asleep and started to dream.

"Marianne."

Sofia jolted upright, her body drenched in sweat. She looked at the hands on her arm and saw that Zafrix was already sitting beside her. Jealousy quickly surged in her heart when she saw his face, the very face that had killed her parents. She quickly pulled away from him and moved away.

"You were having a nightmare, I thought it is better to wake you up," he said, studying her face.

It was then that she realized her cheeks were also wet with tears. She roughly wiped her face with her arms and hands. She didn't know why she suddenly had such a dream involving her mother and sibling. That hadn't happened before. The thought reminded her of her sibling, whom she had left with their father's relatives. She calmed herself. Her heart was still beating fast, and she could still strongly feel every emotion in her chest.

She was angry at herself for letting this man see her in such a state, for showing weakness. She took a deep breath. Her decision was final. She lay back down and covered her eyes with her arm.

"I would like to be alone for a few minutes," she said softly.

"No," he replied.

She looked at him quizzically. He wasn't looking at her, much to her annoyance. If she was truly his beloved, wasn't he supposed to be clingy or something like that? She felt annoyed. He couldn't even bring himself to comfort her.

Zafrix Wolfe was ignoring her. What a pathetic excuse for being her beloved. Tsk. No wonder he hadn't found a mate; he didn't know how to be a gentleman. Zafrix stood from the couch. She just watched him. When he faced her, she quickly closed her eyes.

"Get up, the food is ready," he commanded her.

She suppressed the automatic rush of anger due to his cold tone and his commanding her. She got rid of any anger, hate, or whatever negative expression she had and put on a show. She had to endure this man's attitude. She knew he was still on guard now because he knew what she was planning. But she would make him put all his guard down.

"I... I'm not feeling well," she said, feigning weakness and slowly opened her eyes to look up at him.

Zafrix stared at her, his face stoic and unreadable. Several seconds passed as he held her gaze.

"Drop the lame act. That's not going to fool me," he said and started to walk away.

Sofia gritted her teeth and glared daggers at his back. Her hands itched to at least punch him in the face. He turned to face her again when she didn't move and remained lying down.

"If I come closer, Marianne. You wouldn't really like the consequence," he said darkly.

Sofia refused to move and still acted as if she wasn't feeling well.

"Consequence?" she asked, intentionally softening her voice.

"You won't be able to walk for weeks," he answered coldly, letting his eyes linger on her almost exposed body. She remembered what she was wearing.

A shiver ran down her spine, but she didn't let on that his actions affected her. Slowly, she lowered her feet to the floor, allowing her pale thighs, which the net stockings couldn't cover, to be revealed. She also bent down as if to adjust her stockings, causing her ample breasts, barely concealed by her torn dress, to be exposed. She almost smirked when she heard the couch's back tearing from the force of Zafrix's grip. She knew he was restraining himself.

She stood up straight, then deliberately adjusted her torn top. She would definitely make him fall for her, bit by bit. She approached him, maintaining an innocent expression on her face. She looked up at him once she reached him. He was staring intently at her face. His expression was dark, and his eyes were pitch black.

"You are playing a dangerous game, Marianne," he said, sounding disapproving and yet deeply challenged.

She stared. "I don't know what you're talking about."

She gasped when she found herself trapped in his arms in an instant. She felt that heat again. She suddenly looked up.

"I just want to warn you that whatever your game is, you should stop now. You're just going to lose and you wouldn't like what I am going to do to you if you did," he said.

She flinched when she felt his hand drop to her waist. She immediately pulled away and moved away from him before his hand could wander further, stirring a tickle from within her again. Her face flushed. He let her move away.

He walked ahead of her, leaving the living room and heading towards a door not far from the staircase. She unconsciously hugged herself. Could she really finish what she was intending to do?

She watched him walk. He clearly knew she wasn't going to run away. She had no intention of escaping just because she discovered she was his beloved. In fact, that was a wonderful advantage for her plan. She followed him, remaining silent.

"Hurry up, Marianne. Or do you want me to carry you?" he told her.
