Andrea was just standing there, as if her whole body was frozen. She tried to speak, but not a single word came out. She's just thinking inside her head, playing out scenarios about what Henry has just said. Henry must marry the daughter of L Corp. l
The L Corp, the biggest corporation in the neighbor country. It's just all make sense though. They wanted to merge, they probably aimed to be the most powerful in the whole world. While her? She's just an ordinary girl. She's definitely not a billionaire's daughter.
In her deepest heart, Andrea had already known that someday this relationship would come to and end. He probably hid this relationship for five years simply because it's impossible for them to be together. They lived in different kind of world.
"Andrea, say something." Henry rose from the chair, walking towards her, stopping her from her deep thoughts. Andrea's voice trembled as she's trying to hold back her tears. "I- I really don't know what to say. You, marry a woman that's not me, do I have a say on this? I just- and how about you? Will you marry her?" Andrea shot back at him.
She looked away as tears started to pour down. Henry himself confused with the ongoing situation, he definitely loves Andrea, but it's also impossible to reject his father's request. This agreement between Allen Group and L Corp is huge. Rejecting this agreement would cause extreme impact to the whole Allen Group. Henry, as the only heir, could not risk the downfall of Allen Group in his hands.
"I love you, Andrea. But Allen Group is my responsibility. I hope you can understand." he said quite firmly, as if he demanded her to agree with this nonsense too.
"I don't understand why you're telling me this, Henry. Are you asking for my permission or are you just ending this relationship right now?" Andrea said demanding a quick response from Henry.
Before Henry could answer, Andrea spoke again "Look I-, I really have to go, I'm late for my meeting." Andrea finally said, and walked out the door. Minutes later, Henry heard Andrea's car leaving the cottage.
Henry slammed the dining table beside him, making the things that once arranged beautifully on the table went scattered. He saw the flowers, cake, and candles that he personally chose for their anniversary. Now it's all ruined and messy.
Henry quickly pressed a button in his phone "Tom, clear my schedule for this afternoon and invite Ava Lawrence for lunch. Today."
"In Sunfield, Sir?" Tom made sure what his boss wanted. "Yes, I'll meet you in the airport in two hours, prepare the jet." Henry commanded.
Henry ended the call, he sprinted to his car and drove away from the cottage. He felt that he must find a way to solve this. He could not lose Andrea, not like this.
That day passed almost like instantly, the sky that once bright now become dark again. It's been twelve hours since Andrea left the cottage, and Henry hasn't tried to contact her yet. Andrea pressed the elevator button. She could not stop thinking about what happened that morning. Henry had said he must marry other woman, Ava Lawrence. She has spent enough time in the office to find out about the daughter of L Group.
Turned out the internet knows a lot about Ava. Ava Lawrence, a true definition of a perfect woman. Not only that she's beautiful, she's also a philantrophist. She owned several organizations that help people, she's truly an angel. Even Andrea could not feel any hatred towards Ava.
The elevator dinged, and soon the door opened. Andrea walked lazily to her apartment unit, unlocked the door with her fingerprint. She quickly took off her heels, put her bag just somewhere on the floor. All she wanted was a warm bath, today was a hard day for her. One, the quarell with Henry. Two, important clients that were hard to please. And three, she did not sleep a blink last night.
Before she entered the bathroom, she intentionally took a glance to her phone, no notification from Henry. She felt that Henry owned her more explanation about what he felt about that marriage. What he's going to do with this relationship. He didn't explain any of that. Andrea dipped her body to the bathup, adjusted her body to the warm water. She groaned, it felt so good when the warm water wrapped her body. She rested her head to the edge of bathup, and sighed several times.
Her mind started imagining things, like was there a slight possibility that someone like Henry marries someone like her? He's the sole heir of the Allen Group, but what about her? Andrea's father, Johnny Evans was a furniture factory owner. She grew up in a quite wealthy family, she got everything she wanted, she even went to a top notch school where she met Henry for the first time. But the wealth of her family was nothing compared to Henry's. Not even the tiniest bit.
And as a daughter of a furniture company owner, Andrea learned a lot about furniture when she was a kid. She then chose to study interior design at college. She then decided to start to work as a interior designer rather than working in his father's company. Andrea had zero interest in running that company. She wanted to be independent, succeed without his father's help.
The warm water started to get cold after an hour, Andrea decided to finish her bath. Put herself in a white bathrobe, and wrapped her wet hair with a towel. Just as she walked out from the bathroom, her phone rang. It's Henry. She felt relieve when she saw Henry's name in her phone screen, but part of her also felt afraid about what's his intention of calling her.
She fumbled the phone in her hand, before finally answered the call. "Andrea..." Henry's voice on the other side. After all this time, sometimes she still shivered when Henry called her name like that. Deep, warm, and a little bit husky.
