Chapter 4 The worry and fear

Chapter 4

SASHA'S POV

"Yes, mummy, we want to meet him," Ava added, her voice filled with excitement, while Adrian also spoke up, his eyes shining with anticipation.

I felt a wave of panic wash over me as I tried to think of a response.

"You can't be asking me that right now, you are already late for school, so just eat up so you can get going," I said, trying to brush off their questions.

I didn't know how I was going to answer their question, and I felt like I was avoiding the inevitable.

"Mummy, why are you trying to skip our question? Please give us an answer, we need it," Adrian said, his voice filled with a determination that made me sigh softly.

I looked up at him again and shook my head negatively, realizing I wouldn't be able to make them forget about it.

"You need to observe proper table manners, but I promise to answer your questions once you return from school, for now, just eat up," I told them, hoping they would just listen to me and drop the subject.

But I knew it was a promise I might not be able to keep.

"Okay, mummy, we are going to do just that," they said in unison, that made me feel uneasy.

They finally faced their food, and I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart.

Just then, my cell phone started ringing from my pants pocket, making me sigh softly as I reached for it, wondering who was calling me this early.

"Hello, mum," I spoke up with a smile plastered on my face, realizing it was my mum calling.

But her voice was faint, and I could sense a hint of worry in her tone.

"Sasha, how are you doing?" Mum asked me, her voice laced with concern, making me gasp, realizing something was wrong.

"Mum, are you okay?" I asked instead of responding to her question, my heart racing with worry.

"How... are the kids?" She asked me again, ignoring my question, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Mum, they are fine, but tell me, are you okay?" I asked again, my concern for her growing with each passing moment.

"I and your father have been down for a while now," she responded to me, her voice weak and laced with a hint of reassurance.

But I could sense the underlying worry and fear.

"What?!" I exclaimed, my voice trembling with worry and alarm.

"Yes, she responded," my mother said, her voice calm but laced with a hint of concern, making me take a deep breath to process the news.

"How is that even possible?" I asked, still shocked by what she just told me.

My parents were always so strong and healthy, it was hard to imagine them falling ill. I felt a wave of fear wash over me at the thought of losing them.

"I think we have something that we should have taken," she responded to me, her voice laced with regret and a hint of sadness.

I could sense the worry and concern behind her words, and it only added to my anxiety.

I felt my mind racing with questions and worst-case scenarios, my heart pounding with fear for my parents' health.

I wanted to know what was wrong, and how I could help, but my mother's words only seemed to raise more questions.

"Oh my goodness, why didn't you tell me about it?" I inquired of her, my voice filled with concern and a hint of frustration.

I felt like I should have been told earlier, and that I should be there to take care of them.

"I didn't want to add to your stress," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I could sense the guilt and worry in her tone, and it made my heart ache.

"Have you taken any medication?" I asked her, hoping she would give a positive response. But her answer only increased my worries.

"No, I'm too weak to go to the Pack doctor," she responded, her voice laced with defeat.

I felt a surge of panic and helplessness, realizing they were both alone and weak.

"You know what, Mum, I'm coming back right away. You and Dad need someone to take care of you," I told her, my voice firm.

I knew I had to be there for them, no matter what.

"But what about Alpha Ryan?" she asked, her voice laced with worry. I hesitated, unsure of how to respond.

"I haven't thought of it yet, but it's already five years now, so I don't think he would recognize me," I told her, trying to sound confident. But she asked if I was sure, and I felt a surge of doubt.

I wasn't willing to tell her anything else, so I ended the call, my mind racing with thoughts and emotions.

"Mum, is Grandma ill?" Andy asked me, his voice filled with concern, making me swallow hard and sigh softly.

"Yes, she is ill, and you won't be going to school today again, because we need to go and see them," I said, standing up and making my way out of the dining room.

I felt a sense of determination and worry, knowing that I had to be strong for my family.

I knew what was at stake if I chose to go back to my pack, but the thought of leaving my aged parents all alone and sick, with no one around to take care of them, was unbearable.

I felt a pang of guilt and responsibility, knowing that they needed me now more than ever.

I thought about the potential dangers that awaited me back at the pack, the risk of facing Alpha Ryan again, and the possibility of being rejected or being punished by him for what happened years ago filled my mind.

I wanted to think twice about going back there because I didn't know what would happen if he saw my kids. But the thought of my parents, weak and vulnerable, with no one to care for them, filled me with a sense of urgency and determination.

I sighed softly, feeling the weight of my decision settling in. I knew that I had to put my parents' needs before my own, no matter the cost. I couldn't abandon them, not now, not when they needed me most.

A sense of resolve washed over me, and I knew that I would do whatever it took to care for them, even if it meant facing my past and the dangers that came with it. But one thing was setting, I would protect my kids no matter what.
