"I'm sorry ma'am," one of them sighed, "we lost him-"
I didn't want to hear it, I didn't want to believe it. I tried to move again but the pain in my head felt excruciating, forcing me to let out a loud cry.
"It's a lie!" I growled, "my baby is not dead, stop saying nonsense!"
The nurses tried to ease my nerves, but I wasn't giving in. Soon I began to yank the IV cannula in my hands.
Soon the situation started getting out of control as the nurses saw my amber eyes glowing, they knew my wolf was coming out any time soon.
"Call the doctor right now!" one of the nurses ordered another as the others tried to subdue me.
"Where is my baby!" I yelled, trying to break free from the nurses' grip.
"Please calm down," one of the nurses pleaded, "you're going to hurt yourself."
"No! I want my baby!" I growled, my fists clenched in fury as I struggled with the nurses.
Immediately the doctor came in and saw the commotion. He was holding a string in his hands and the moment he reached where I was, he injected it into my arm.
Almost immediately, I began to feel dizzy and in a matter of seconds, I fell back on my bed, unconscious.
*********
I opened my eyes again but this time I didn't see any of the nurses. The doctor was sitting beside me, while two strange men in black suits stood behind him.
"How are you feeling now, ma'am?" the doctor smiled as he leaned forward.
"My baby," I whispered, "is my baby alright?"
The doctor frowned, "I'm sorry ma'am, but you had a miscarriage after the accident."
My vision blurred again and soon, tears made their way down my cheeks. All my effort to save my unborn child was all for nothing.
"We're deeply sorry ma'am." one of the men standing there said.
I switched my gaze towards them but I didn't know who they were.
"Who are you people?" I asked.
"We are from the Sypher pack. We brought you to the hospital," one of them replied, "actually, it was us that hit you with our car?"
I suddenly raised my brows in shock, "you killed my child!" I yelled.
"We saved your life!" the other yelled back, "Do you think you could have survived all by yourself in that storm? What were you even doing out all alone?"
"So I'm supposed to thank you for hitting me with your car and killing my child?" I barked, staring furiously at him.
"But we still saved your life and that means we're even!" he scoffed.
"Look ma'am, the first one leaned closer to me and held my hand but I swatted it away. "I'm truly sorry. We didn't know you were pregnant, we could find you a good house to stay,"
"Did I tell you I was homeless?" I growled. My heart was beating fast as I stared at him.
He reached for my hand once again, "Please ma'am, let us help you,"
"I don't need your help, thanks!" I puffed, turning my head to the opposite direction.
"Alright then," he sighed and stood up. "Doctor, we're going to be outside if you need us."
The doctor nodded in agreement as the two men exited the room.
"Ma'am please stop crying," the doctor reached for my face and wiped my tears gently, "it's not the end of the world."
He was right. Losing my child wasn't the end of the world. At least he wasn't going to suffer with me in this cruel world.
My child was the only reason I didn't commit suicide because I had faith that we would go through this together but now, I didn't know what to do.
"What about your husband, or parents?" the doctors asked "what we're you even doing out all by yourself in the middle of the night? Where is your pack-"
"I don't have a pack," I whispered, staring coldly at the ceiling. I have no parents, no mates, no home-nothing! My child was all I had."
The doctor's expression turned sour "I'm so sorry ma'am," he sighed, "I wish there was something I can do, unless-"
I quickly switched my gaze towards the doctor, "unless what?"
"Those men that brought you here, they seem very rich. Maybe they can get you a place to stay."
"They already offered to help me," I replied quickly, "but I declined."
The doctor squinted his eyebrows in disbelief, "why?"
"I don't trust them," I replied sharply.
"They saved your life," the doctor pointed out, "and besides you don't have anywhere else to go."
He was right. I had nowhere to go. I had no connections with my relatives outside the Lucent pack. But I couldn't trust those men-after what I went through, I wasn't sure if I could ever trust anyone.
I signed deeply as I stared at the ceiling, lost in deep contemplation. Soon the two men came back in.
"Listen ma'am," the first man whispered. "It's alright not to trust us. I know you must have gone through a lot in the past but believe me, we just want to help,"
I kept staring at the ceiling but I didn't respond.
"Trust me, we're doing this because we brought you here. Besides that, we don't owe you anything." the other added.
"Alright, fine!" I yelled, "I'll accept your help under one condition,"
The two men stared at each other in amazement. They were offering to help me yet I was given a condition for helping me. It seemed weird but I felt they owed it to me, after all, I was hit by their car.
"I'm not staying with you in your house," I replied sharply, "you will get me an apartment and give me a lot of money so I can get a job and fend for myself."
"We have a deal." The first man smiled and nodded in agreement.
As soon as they all left, I closed my eyes in deep contemplation. I still didn't trust those men but I had a feeling that they were honest.
I thought about the hell I went through the previous night. My heart was full of rage and hatred towards Cedric, Astrid and even My mother Lyanna.
"Cedric. Astrid. Mother." I whispered, tears dripped from my eyes as I shut them.
"You betrayed me, you abandoned me, you left me to die!" I suddenly opened my eyes and stared coldly at the ceiling, clenching my fists hard,
"I will return and when I do, you all are going to pay for what you did to me!"
