Chapter 5 Something About You

Ring! Ring!

HELLO! Is this Miss Emilia Burno?

"Yes, I am the one. Is there any issue?"

I'm Calling from Concordia Hospital. We have found your Mom's hospital record. You can come to review it.

Without hesitation, Emilia grabbed her handbag, politely informed her colleague she was stepping out, and left the office in haste. Her thoughts swirled as she made her way through the bustling streets to the hospital. There was a storm of questions in her heart - questions that had lingered for years without answers.

Hello Doctor, hello Miss Emilia happy to see you. This is your Mom's hospital record.

Emilia sat, her hands slightly trembling as the folder was handed over to her. She flipped through the pages slowly, her eyes scanning the details. Each line brought back fragments of memory, some painful, others bittersweet. But something didn't sit right.

She looked through the record and still didn't find out the truth because she was very sure her Mom didn't die of depression or frustration, but she was poisoned. She left the hospital still not satisfied.

Leaving the hospital, Emilia stepped into the cool afternoon air, her heart heavy. The unanswered questions only deepened. As she crossed the hospital courtyard, her phone buzzed in her bag, and she answered it.

Hello! It is I, Ricco.

Hey, nice to hear from you again. Sorry I couldn't call, I was busy. That's not a problem.

"Where are you?" Ricco asked.

On my way home from the hospital, she answered.

"Are you sick?" He asked with concern in his tone.

"Yes, I am fine, just had to go through something", she assured him.

Ricco sent a text suggesting a coffee date and she gladly accepted.

Once home, she sifted through her wardrobe, choosing a dress, and she finally settled on a simple, flowy dress that would be perfect.

They met at a Classic Cuppa Cafe, Ricco was already waiting for her there, and she ordered what they wanted.

They ordered their drinks and pastries, and conversation began to flow naturally. Emilia found herself captivated by the way Ricco spoke - his perspective on design, his passion for innovation, and the subtle wit that lit up his expressions.

"You're surprisingly passionate about creativity," she observed with genuine admiration.

Ricco laughed softly. "Design is how I make sense of the world. It's a silent language - shaping emotion into form."

She nodded, quietly impressed.

Suddenly, he asked, "Would you consider working at DE LEO's company?" He asked

That sounds great. In just a few months, it's almost becoming a major player in the industry, and its fashion designers are great.

She tilted her head, a playful smile curving her lips. "And what exactly do you do there?"

Ricco chuckled. "Technically, I'm the CEO's driver and personal assistant. But that puts me in a unique position to get things done. If you're interested, you could drop by tomorrow."

I had preferred to walk into the company through the necessary procedures, but I don't think I will be able to quit my job for now. At least it is still ok with me. She answered.

Ok then, I won't persuade you.

Ricco then took me home, and upon reaching my house, he met Matteo, my friend, waiting at the door, and I got down.

Entering the house, Matteo asked me "Who was that?"

He is Ricco, a friend that I met and he works in De LEO's company as an assistant and driver to the CEO.

Matteo just nodded and gave the reason why he was there.

"That Ricco looks familiar but I can't remember where or when I have seen him," Matteo said.

Before Emilia could respond, a sudden knock echoed from the door.

They both turned sharply.

"Who could that be at this hour?" she whispered.

Matteo moved cautiously toward the door, but Emilia silently and quickly moved past him, tension rising in her chest but firm.

The knock came again - firmer this time.

And with it, the air in the room shifted.
