Chapter 4 Epistle 4

Ariana's POV

2 years later

"Wake up, you lazy b*tch!" Was all I heard before the coldness seeped through my clothes. A raw, guttural scream ripped through my throat as the cold instantly overwhelmed me.

"Get up now! Do you think you're a princess?" Someone yelled at the top of their voice, and from the tone I knew it was Rachel.

I sat upright in my bed, blinking to focus my eyes, realizing that I had just been woken by a bucket of cold water being dumped on me. I jolted up from my bed, scurrying off to create distance between us as I realized she wasn't alone, but with her minions.

Rachel has been one of my biggest tormentors in this pack. Whenever Victor was out performing pack duties and Olivia, Victor's step-sister wasn't around, Rachel and her minions never failed to bully and remind me that I was a rogue, an outsider, and not a member of this pack.

The thing is ever since that day two years ago when Victor saved my life after I left the Crescent Moon Pack, he has been the one taking care of me. He treats me like his younger sister; we both live in the same house, and he always tries his best to make sure I don't lack anything. Rachel's twin brother, Robert, has also been nice to me, especially when Victor was not around.

With Victor, Olivia and Robert, it was very easy for me to forget about all the trauma I went through back home. I feel so grateful for having them both in my life. Then there is Drew, Olivia's elder brother and soon-to-be Alpha of the Crimson Moon Pack, who is different.

He never really shows any signs of care or hatred, and his best friend, Rachel, has been one of my biggest tormentors in this pack. Although she can't lay a finger on me when Victor is around, unfortunately for me, Victor has been out of the pack for a few weeks now, and before he left, he told me that he may be out of the pack for three months or more.

So he asked me to move into the pack house to avoid being lonely, and I have spent the whole week in the pack house. The first few days were peaceful because Olivia was beside me most of the time, but the past two days that it seems like she's been busy, Rachel and a couple others have made life a living hell for me.

"Can't you be any less pathetic?" Rachel gritted her teeth, pulling me out of my reverie.

"I..." I tried explaining but she cut me short with a wave of her hand.

"Keep whatever you want to say to yourself. I just came to inform you that the Lycan Prince, Edvin, will be coming to our pack tomorrow, and even though you're a rogue, you're expected to help the maids out with preparation. So I expect you to play your role as a rogue maid and quit acting like a f*cking princess that you're not."

"I'm... I'm sorry. I'll go help with preparation," I sputter out trying to keep my teeth from clattering.

She spun on her heels and walked to the door, followed by her minions. "You've got five minutes to come down and start working." She said then slammed the door closed so hard that the walls shook and some plaster fell to the floor, creating a small crack.

Since Rachel came to call me out this morning, I've been assigned so many heinous tasks. I was just given the task of working on the garden, and I've been at it for over two hours now without a break.

Just as I stood up and was about to move to the next part of the garden that I was supposed to trim, I saw Victor's father, Alpha McCarthy, Drew and Robert inspecting the work being done in preparation for the Lycan Prince's visit tomorrow. As they got to my side, I stopped what I was doing and paid my respect by bowing.

Just then, out of nowhere, Rachel and her friends stormed to my side. Then she asked, "Are you done trimming the garden?"

"What is going on here?" Drew asked before I could reply to Rachel.

"I am sorry, my prince and Alpha King," she replied, bowing her head slightly in respect. "I advised her to help out with the pack's preparations for the Lycan Prince's visit tomorrow, and that she should see it as a way of showing appreciation and giving back to the pack for taking her in, providing food, clothes, and shelter for her. But of course, she's just ungrateful, and she's been stubborn and doesn't want to work."

"Is that so?" He asked as he looked at me and then back to Rachel. "How long has she been working?"

"For almost one hour now but.."

"How long have you been working?" He asked me, cutting her off mid-sentence.

"I have been working since morning and I haven't been allowed to eat or rest," I explained, trying to keep my voice steady.

"You can leave. You're dismissed for the day, go wash up, eat and rest," he instructed.

I was about to leave when Alpha McCarthy stopped me. 'You're that rogue girl who was saved by Victor a few years back, right?"

"Yes, Alpha."

"That's good. You can go now."

I woke up this morning feeling exhausted from all the work I had to do yesterday. It was barely dawn, but I forced myself out of bed. I had heard from a maid yesterday that Olivia was sick, and I felt bad that I couldn't visit her because of the heavy workload. So, I woke up early today to go to her room, to spend time with her, and also to avoid Rachel and her friends. Also, today is my eighteenth birthday and I would rather spend it with Olivia in her room than allow Rachel and her friends to bully me on such a special day.

On my way to Olivia's room, I caught the scent of something incredibly enticing-a mix of lavender and chocolate, with a hint of something almost musky and woodsy. What was this amazing scent, and where was it coming from? I thought to myself. I followed the scent, and it led me to the door just before Olivia's room, which happened to be Drew's room.
