Chapter 4 Identity Crisis

I furrowed my brows in shock and staggered a few steps backward. What was Alpha Hades talking about when he made mention of the demons? What demons was he referring to? Was there something about Alpha Hades that I was yet to know about?

I mean, I had always wondered the reason why Alpha Hades had me kidnapped and not killed, like how he had wiped out the rest of my pack members, my husband included. I could not exactly question his reasons for keeping me alive, rather I acted grateful while I dealt with the guilt of my dead husband.

I sighed heavily and hastily wiped the drops of tears from my eyes. "What do you mean by I am a mere maid to chase demons?" I asked in a shaky tone. I also did my best to manage my tone so that it would not come off as offensive to Alpha Hades.

I watched him scoff loudly and raise a brow at me. His piercing gray eyes stared coldly into my soul. I gulped a lump down my throat and hastily averted my gaze elsewhere. Whenever I was around Alpha Hades too, I always felt this surge of electricity course through my veins. It started when we first met at the Silver Pack house and, ever since then, it has never stopped.

Since I was forcefully married to Alpha Hades, I was also forced to sleep in the same room as him, on the same bed. The first few nights were horrifying because I felt like Justin was somewhere out there watching me and I felt guilty. Later on, I was forced to live with the fact that I had no choice. All of Alpha Hades' orders were to be followed, regardless of the extent.

"Why are you still here?" He snapped at me with a scowl on his face. My mind kept telling me to leave, but my body was doing the exact opposite by standing still. I cleared my throat and asked again. "What de-mons were y-ou talking about?" I stuttered.

I watched Alpha Hades clench his fist tight and grit his teeth in anger at me. He slowly began to approach me, sending chills down my spine. My heart began to race extremely fast as I noticed how close he got to me. I had to keep taking many steps backwards until my back was against the wall.

Alpha Hades leaned closer to me, he whispered softly into my ears, his hot breath tingled around my neck region, which caused me to release a small weak moan. Once again, I felt an old fire in me rekindle. Alpha Hades was doing incomprehensible things to me. "You had better learn to stay in your lane, Mia, or else you will end up like your dead husband. "We do not want that, do we?" He spat out bitterly. I felt my heart shatter into pieces at the mention of my dead husband. Each day that passed by, Alpha Hades never felt remorse for once. Instead, all he did was disrespect the dead.

"Give me some response!" Alpha Hades yelled at me angrily. His loud voice startled me. I hastily nodded my head frankly. I watched a mischievous smirk creep on Alpha Hades' face, his dimpled smile lightened up his face and, for the first time in my life, I acknowledged his physically attractive features.

I heard Alpha Hades was forty years old, yet he looked nothing like it. Aging did not seem like a problem for him. I snapped out of my thoughts immediately and hastily made my way out of his room.

It was nightfall and I could not stop thinking about the demons that Alpha Hades had mentioned earlier. I knew it had something to do with me. I was just unsure of what exactly. That was why, at midnight, I sneaked out of the room and set out to Tamara's room. If there was one person who would gladly give answers to my question, I would know it was Tamara.

Not only had she been a member of the Moon Tribe pack since birth, I also noticed that her, Jones and Alpha Hades were childhood friends. Tamara was the healer of the pack, which also made her an important figure. I felt like she would have an idea about the demons Alpha Hades had mentioned earlier.

I delivered several knocks on the door before the door eventually opened wide, revealing a very tired Tamara. She eyed me suspiciously before questioning me. "What is going on? "What are you doing here?" She asked in a concerned tone.

"I have a question," I hastily pointed out.

I heard Tamara groan slowly in frustration. "This is midnight Mia, can we talk tomorrow instead? "Alpha Hades will notice your absence anytime soon and H....." I could not bear to hear Tamara complete her sentence. I was also fully aware that Alpha Hades would discover my absence soon. I needed to be time-conscious.

The demons? To Alpha Hades, I am a mere maid used to chasing demons away. "What demons?" I asked.

Tamara sighed heavily. She looked around the dark hallways before ushering me into her room. I sat comfortably on the floor, waiting patiently for her to give me a response.

"I see Hades finally mentioned that to you?" She raised a brow at me.

I nodded my head slowly. "I always wanted to know why he chose to keep me alive instead." What is my purpose here? It can not be just because he was in need of a Luna; there are many female werewolves in the Moon Tribe pack. Why me? "A foreigner?" I asked.

"It is because you are the only one that can chase away the demons....." Tamara trailed off...

"A centuries-old curse was placed upon Hades' family many years ago.

The curse makes the demons lurk around him, hence causing sleepless nights and a troubled mind. He is the only one left of his family. His entire family committed suicide due to the disturbing demons."

My mouth is left hung open as I process it all. How then am I able to chase the demons? Who am I?
