We were having a conversation when a tall blond guy with blue eyes and a muscular build approached us and sat with us.
"Excuse me, ladies.hope I'm not interrupting?" he asked. I tried to rack my brain to recall where I had met him; his face looked familiar.
Oh, he was the one who told us to jump on the train.
"Oh, hi!" I waved at him.
"Nope, you aren't disturbing us," Rita answered, and he winked at her.
"So, what are you ladies up to?" he asked, his eyes glued on Rita.
We shrugged slightly. "Nothing, just waiting for our terrible fate."
he chuckled.
"Terrible fate indeed. I think we will be getting to our destination tomorrow. Stay guided throughout the night," he whispered. I leaned forward with Rita and asked,
"What's going to happen?"
"Nothing, just some troublesome Valtors planning to attack the Lythari werewolves. You know we do hate the Lythari and Kyrethi, right?"
We both quickly turned to Rita, who sat down glancing at us with a blank expression.
"Not you, love. I don't hate you," he uttered quietly, and I beamed at her, assuring the same.
She shook her head crossing her hands over her chest.
We have been taught for years that whenever we encounter another species of werewolves, we should kill them
When we jumped onto the train, we saw a lot of Lythari werewolves curled up in a corner, their eyes startled with terror.
So, the Valtors are planning on on attacking the lythari is not unforeseen to me.
My gaze swept around the train, and a lot of girls my age were curled up like a ball in the corner.
I leaned forward and asked the blonde guy, "Do you think the Kyrethi will join us soon?" He shook his head. "Nah, I don't think so. It's going to be bloody. I think they are already waiting for us in the Blood Moon boot camp," he said furrowing his eyebrows .
"I wonder what they look like?" Rita spoke up.
"No one knows what they look like, and they are hardly seen," I responded, and I sighed, resting my back against the train.
"What is your name?" the blonde-haired guy suddenly asked Rita.
"Rita, why?" she replied with a smirk. "I'm Eric, by the way." He extended his hand towards her, and she shook it. "Nice to meet you, Eric." They both locked eyes for about a minute, smiling flirtatiously at each other.
I suddenly cleared my throat, which broke their gaze.
"I am here," I raised my hands awkwardly. And Rita grinned.
"What if you are here?" she asked.
We all chatted with each other when we felt people standing up, feeling frightened. Murmurs filled the train, and the three of us quickly got up to stare at what was going on.
I suddenly gasped at the sight: a man who was plus human size, with a scar on his face, his eyes dazzling red and his fangs out. He seemed like he was actually trapped between shifting into a wolf. I took a sniff, but my head flooded with confusion; he didn't have a werewolf scent.
He seemed dangerous, like MAGIC.
"Don't even think about it. He's actually a trapped shifter mixed with magic. I think he's a messenger for the Kyrethi," Eric whispered in my ear. Everyone stood frozen as his dreaded gaze swept through the train.
He took a step forward, and everyone divided, clearing a path for him.
He paced through the train back and forth before he finally spoke, his voice roaring like a strom.
"We will be arriving at our destination tomorrow I hope you all respect yourselves, because if you don't..." he suddenly swung a knife in the air.
"This will be going through your throat." A cold shiver ran through my spine as I swallowed hard, and he finally left. Everyone returned to their seats, with faint murmurs filling the train.
"Who was he?" I asked Eric, who was stealing glances at Rita. Seriously, did these two already like each other?
"What?" he asked, seeming carried away by Rita's beauty and barely hearing what I had asked.
He ran his hands through his hair before grinning at me, embarrassed.
"I said, who was he?" I repeated.
"The trapped shifter guy?"
I nodded.
"Well, he's a messenger for the Kyrethi, especially the lycan kings."
"The lycan kings?" Rita and I asked in unison.
Actually, this sounded new when he mentioned lycan KINGS.
"Yes, the Kyrethi has two lycan kings."
I blinked hard, processing the information. This was new; I had never heard of two lycan kings. It had never been recorded in history.
"Yeah, it's actually two brothers. After the death of their parents, they realized there were lycan kings," he whispered.
"Are they twins?" Rita asked.
"No, they aren't. I think the older one is 900 years old and the younger is about 700 years old."
My mouth gaped in daze.
Wow, I didn't know much about this information, so two brothers have been ruling for over 900 years. Wow.
As night began to emerge, I stared at the sky, with the train moving at high speed, passing through tunnels.
I reached out for the necklace my mom gave me at birth and kissed it. My heart ached, I yearned for my mom already.
"Me too," Rita spoke behind me, diverting me from my thoughts. She continued,
"I miss my mom too. To be sincere with you, I wanted to run away because I couldn't bear the thought of staying without her."
How did she know I was missing my mom? I couldn't help but sigh.
Life really had its way of messing with someone, doesn't it?
"It's fine; everything is going tobe okay." I shrugged her shoulder slightly, and she nodded. My eyes wandered around the train, but I couldn't catch a glimpse of Eric.
"Where's Eric?" I asked Rita.
"He went to his friends," she pointed to a group of boys with Eric laughing with them. I stared at Rita, who seemed to be lost, staring at Eric while smiling slightly.
I couldn't help but chuckle, and she immediately turned towards me.
"What?" she asked, her eyes pondering around me.
"Nothing, somebody is in love," she immediately rolled her eyes, blushing hard.
Rita and I chatted for a while, and Eric joined us shortly.
We planned how we were going to stay guided for the night when Eric volunteered to watch over us.
I tried to stay awake, but it seems I can't betray nature.
Little by little, my eyelids grew heavy, and I drifted off to sleep, resting my back on the train, with Rita head on my shoulder.
I suddenly blinked hard, rubbing my eyes, and yawned.
I stared through the train and saw it was morning.
I blinked twice, and my eyes widened in dismay at the bunch of dead bodies on the floor, with blood dripping out of them.
I quickly turned to Rita's direction, and she was gone. The train suddenly came to a halt.
We had arrived. I panicked, my head buzzing in confusion. Where is Rita, and where is Eric?
