No answer came
I approached the tree and the feeling of discomfort started to rise in me. It was at this point that I saw it.
An arm, protruding from the rear end of the huge bole.
I held my breath as I circled the tree at a snail's pace. And there, on the floor, was Fiona.
Her eyes were wide open, and she was gazing at the sky, which was gradually turning into a shade of grey. She lay naked, she must have shifted and fought for her life. There was blood oozing from her mouth, which was not more than the thickness of a thread.
I fell back, the scream rising in my throat. But before I could utter a single word, a hand came over my mouth.
"Well, well," a familiar voice growled in my ear. "What do we have here?"
I recognized the voice, the smell. With his right hand over my mouth very tightly, his left hand above my chest tightly while I try to break free.
"Get off me!" I screamed as Rory had a death grip on my arm.
"Shut up, freak!" he whispered, pulling me further into the woods.
I was powerless over his grip. I wondered why I hadn't gotten my wolf yet, was it because I had never picked up a fight with anyone?
All of a sudden, I had that strange feeling of strength inside me once more. In a reflexive manner, I screamed, "Help me!"
This was rather surprising to me, but the forest was alive with noise. The birds squawked, squirrels babble, and the trees themselves appeared to shake in anger. Rory stopped, and appeared to be trying to figure out what was going on.
A flock of crows attacked us by flying around us. Rory yelled, he let go of me to cover his face. I didn't waste a second. I ran while the crows chased him.
I ran as fast as I could through the forests with my feet beating the ground harder as I went deeper into the forest. Behind me I could hear Rory swearing and shifting into a big wolf and growling. But I didn't turn around.
When my lungs seemed to be burning, I fell behind a big oak tree. After a moment or so, I was able to catch my breath and I saw something amazing. I could comprehend the animals that I was surrounded with.
Once a robin was singing on a branch just above my head. "Hey wolf-girl, are you alright?" it asked cheerfully.
I blinked, not really sure if I was imagining things. "You... you are able to speak?"
The robin looked to the side with its head tilted. "We always speak, you are just understanding me for the first time, it's about time, we have been waiting for you according to the prophesy."
I was not even able to digest this when suddenly a squirrel ran up. "The bad wolf-man is gone," it chattered. "Mother bear chased him away."
I heaved a sign of relief. "Thank you," I said, still unable to grasp the fact that I was addressing animals. "I wonder what happened to the old woman in the park? Fiona?"
The animals went quiet. Then an old crow flew and perched close by. "I was there," it croaked softly. "A big bad wolf-man killed her but not this one chasing you, said she was telling secrets".
My blood ran cold. Who had killed Fiona? Only because she was going to tell me the truth?
"What secrets?" I asked, my voice trembling.
I wanted to know more from the animals but their response was that I'd find out everything at the right time. I had to get back to the pack house without being seen by anyone. The animals were also helpful in that they informed me when other pack members were around and where it was safe to tread.
I was thinking a lot as I sneaked back into my room. I had so many questions. Why could I all of a sudden speak to animals? What actually happened to my parents? And what kind of a big wolf was it that killed Fiona? What prophesy did the bird speak of?
Sneaking into my room was almost too easy until I bumped into Rory already waiting for me in my room.
"Oh common! Can you just give me a freaking minute?" I said.
He stared at me with a senister grin, leaning a shoulder on a wall and crossing his right leg over his left leg, and crossing his hands too.
"Rory, what were you doing at the oak tree last night?"
"I should be asking you that pretty, but if you want to know, I was finishing up my father's job"
Rory said walking towards me while I stepped backwards, partially scared of his next move.
"Well ... I... I went to have a quiet time" I stammered.
"In the dark? You know it wasn't safe for you darling".
He said pretending to care with a senister giggle
"But that's not why I'm here, I'm here to make a deal with you, let me have you for this night and my dad will know nothing about yesterday night.
Advancing towards me and pinning me to the wall, with both his hands on the wall caging me.
He starts romancing me roughly, kissing my neck.
I try to break free, but being already exhausted from the previous night it seemed impossible.
He continued kissing my neck, goes down to my chest as he romances my thighs. He uses his right now to roughly massage my breast while kissing my neck.
I scream at him to stop and push him back but it fell on deaf ears as he continues, clinging himself back to my chest as apruptly as I had pushed him. I was glad when the door that was partly opened flung wide open, and there stood my uncle. I was glad I left the door open. Only to wish it never was in the next hour.
I stood to watch my uncle's reaction, Rory without a flench continued his torture.
Declan shut the door and walked to my direction slowly while watching his son caress me. He held my left breast, finding my nipple and nibbling it. I couldn't control the tears that started finding it's way out of my eyes.
"Bend her over Rory, I think I should have a taste of her."
