Chapter 2 MARRY ME

" Do you, Alexander King, accept Sophie Miller as your lawfully wedded wife? ". The priest asked. Sophie could bet that Alexander hesitated a little.

" Yes ". He said sharply as he gave her a death glance. She flinched and dropped her eyes from his face to the length of her wedding gown. It was a really beautiful dress that was picked by Alexander.

The priest turned to her and asked. " Do you, Sophie Miller, take Alexander King as your lawfully wedded husband? ".

With several thoughts crossing her stressed mind, she nodded her head absentmindedly.

The priest cleared his throat. " Miss Miller, I would need a vocal response .

She almost facepalmed herself. " Yes, I do".

The priest gave the couple a reassuring smile. " You may now kiss the bride". He turned to Alexander.

Alexander took a couple steps and stood inches away from her, invading her personal space. She got a whim of his sweet scented cologne and she glanced up at his blue eyes.

She was anxious and could not explain the reason. This definitely would not be her first kiss as she already left that for her cheating ex boyfriend.

He inched closer to her face and held her breath and immediately shut her eyes. She felt his soft lips on her forehead and he quickly backed away from her.

Sophie was taken back from the gentle kiss and she could easily tell that the priest was too. He possibly had the same question that she currently had in mind. Why did he not kiss her on her lips?

" God be with you both". The priest said and Alexander grabbed her hand and dragged her gently from the courthouse.

A shiny black Mercedes Benz that took them there was already waiting for them outside and Alexander left her to her door and entered the car. After recollecting herself, she also got in.

A middle aged man who sat behind the wheel who earlier introduced himself to her as Mike, Alexander's driver, turned back to look at the grudging couple.

" Congratulations, Mr and Mrs King". He exclaimed with a big smile on his face.

Reality dawned on Sophie as after hearing her new name and she turned to look at the man that sat beside her unmoving.

" Can I ask a question?". She asked softly, her fingers intertwined together. She stared at the rock on her middle finger.

" What?". She could feel his penetrating eyes on her.

" None of your family members showed up". She stated.

He sighed deeply. " That is not a question".

She looked at him. " Why did they not show up for you?".

With a sadistic smile pasted on his face, he said, " What if they are not alive".

She gasped. " Why will you say something like that about your family?".

He ignored her question and stared out the car.

" I read about them. They all over the news and so are you". She stated.

He looked at her. " Keeping tabs on me now?". He asked.

" You know basically everything about me. Nothing stopped me from knowing about the man whom I would get married to".

" I never informed them about the wedding ". He said.

" Why?".

" My life. My choice, Sophie. It is my decision and it does not concern you". With an aura of authority, he said.

She sinked back into her seat and kept quiet, watching the trees as they go by.

The car drove into a rich neighborhood and she could not help but admire the several mansions they passed by. She had never had the chance at wealth since her childhood and she was now married to a billionaire. Her mother will have a good time laughing if she ever told her.

Mike drove into the biggest mansion she had ever seen and she stared at the beautiful exterior. Her mind could not believe her eyes.

Alexander exited the car and she quickly followed him. Blindly looking at the white designs of the house and the vast space it consumed. She wondered if his entire family lived here with him.

They entered into the mansion and her mouth fell open. It looked nothing like she had ever seen before. She was amazed at the beauty of the staircase and the decorations inside the house.

" Your mansion is nice". She said. " Does your family live here with you?". She asked.

" I live alone". He said and gestured for a man towards him. The man stood in front of him and bowed a little.

" Master King". He greeted.

Alexander turned to her. " This is the chief butler, Hutchins. He will show you to your room". He said and walked away.

She stood there dumbfounded. " I don't understand".

" Ma'am, allow me to show you to your room". He gestured for her to follow him to the staircase.

" Don't I get to stay in the same room as Alexander?". She asked curiously with a hint of joy in her tone. She never wished to stay in the same room with that cold man anyways.

" No, the master has ordered for us to prepare a special room for you, not very far from his". He stated as he led her through a long corridor, she watched as they passed before a large master bedroom which the butler said was the master's bedroom. Few doors from his bedroom was her own room.

Hutchins opened the bedroom door. " This is your bedroom, ma. I will leave you to it". He left her inside the room. She surveyed the room and sat on the bed.

A knock resounded on her door and the butler reappeared. " The master ask that you should prepare to go see his family. Your dress is in the wardrobe". He left.

Sophie walked towards the huge wardrobe and opened it. All her clothes were arranged and in the middle hung a pretty red short dress.

She removed her wedding gown and wore the dress. She glanced at herself in the mirror and headed downstairs.

Alexander turned to look at her, she caught his eyes and held it.

" You are late". He said coldly.

" I was" She gestured to her body. "...wearing the cloth that you asked me". She walked and stood in front of him.

He started to walk towards the entrance of the mansion and she picked up pace after him. He entered to the driver's side and got beside him.

" You are driving by yourself". She mentioned.

He drove out of the mansion. " I can clearly drive myself".

" Where are we going?". She started up a conversation with the hope that he will follow suit.

He kept quiet. She cleared her throat and said, " I just want to know why we are suddenly going to your family's house".

" For a quiet person you sure do ask a lot of stupid questions". He begrudgingly said. She felt pained and just remained silent.

The car was so silent that if a pin was dropped then it could be heard surely.

Alexander spoke up after a while. " My family are not the nicest people on earth, just like me, but you will just need to tolerate them for a while. You know what you are meant to do".

She rolled her eyes. " Pretend to completely be in love with you. Yes, I know".

" I don't appreciate people rolling their eyes at me, Sophie". He stated.

" I don't appreciate people speaking rudely to me". She mumbled.

" I don't like you. Why should I be nice to you". After he said this, she sunk lower into her seat.

He soon parked into the lot of another mansion almost the size of his own mansion. She did not have the time to scrutinize her environ when he called her name.

She quickly followed behind him and he placed their hands together. She took a moment to stare at his large hand that was intertwined with hers.

The door opened and an angry man's face peeped out. He eyed her with a wicked glance and their intertwined hands.

" I do not approve of this marriage!". He shouted.
