Chapter 5 Episode 5: THE GIRL IN MY PAST

MYRON

When Arrde's best friend came over so we could spend time together without Arrde, I enjoyed every moment with her until she refused to let me touch her because I told her that Arrde had yet to sign the divorce papers.

Frustrated and pissed, I went to Arrde to let it all out on her and fortunately, I found her all set to quench my thirst.

I want nothing to do with Arrde, I'm so done coping with all her trash. I know she's my destined mate, however, the moon goddess has nothing to do with my destiny because I decide what happens and what does not happen in my life and as the pack leader nobody has a say in it.

I mated Arrde because she was innocent and vulnerable, she needed someone to protect her so I felt pity for her and took her in. However, she doesn't possess the qualities of my kind of Luna.

Still, fortunately for me, I've found those qualities in her best friend and I'm going all out for it. I don't want to humiliate her for the sake of her father's friendship with my dad, so I'll just end it with a divorce instead of publicly rejecting her as my mate.

That's unlike me... It's probably pity again.

I yanked the door open.

"I don't fight a losing battle." I murmured while leaving the room.

" But you just lost to Arrde. " Roderigo whispered.

" I didn't lost to her... "

"You underestimated her, Alpha." Roderigo, my assistant and Beta said while we walked back to the car.

"I didn't, it never occurred to me that she would reject my offer. Just how much money does she have to reject me? Who does she think she is?"

" Why do you think so? Don't you know women are deadly?" Roderigo asked.

" Just stop talking and drive! "

Throughout the drive home, I was restless.

It never occurred to me that Arrde would be that adamant because the girl I knew five years ago was always timid and would always suck up to me, she would tremble at my feet like a puppet.

Well, not now anymore and I wonder what happened to her, I'm becoming more curious of her. How did she get to where she was without anybody's help? I need to find out.

I won't let it slide, not when she rejected me like that. She has made herself the villain and we'll see how well she can play it.

"What's your plan B then?" Roderigo queried, glancing at me through the driver's mirror.

"Lets get home first, I'm exhausted and I can't think straight right now." I said and closed my eyes.

I barely made it to my room before the frustration consumed me. Kicking off my boots, I tore off my jacket and threw it across the room, letting it land wherever it pleased. I had spent years molding Arrde into someone who depended on me. She had always been meek, obedient, and desperate for my approval. The Arrde I saw yesterday was nothing like that.

She had rejected me... Like I was some desperate beggar knocking on her door for scraps.

I scoffed, running a hand through my hair.

I'm the Alpha of my pack. I dictated who was mine and who wasn't. Arrde had no right to make that decision. Yet she had. She had looked me in the eye with a calm, unshaken expression and refused me without a hint of regret.

Roderigo's words echoed in my mind. You underestimated her, Alpha.

Maybe I had. Maybe I had let myself believe she was the same girl who had trembled under my gaze all those years ago.

But if she wanted to play this game, I'd show her who she was dealing with.

The next morning, I sat in my office, staring at the divorce papers I had compelled Arrde to sign five years ago. They sat on my desk like a taunt, the bold letters mocking me.

I didn't know why, but something about her rejection had lit a fire inside me. I should have felt relieved that she was letting me go so easily. I had everything I wanted-her best friend was within reach, and Arrde willingly walked away.

So why did it feel like a challenge?

A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. "Come in," I called.

Roderigo entered, his expression unreadable. "Alpha, I found something you might want to see."

I raised a brow. "What is it?"

He placed a thick folder on my desk. I reached for it, flipping it open to find several documents inside. Business transactions, legal agreements, and property ownership papers-all under Arrde's name.

"What the hell is this?" I muttered, scanning through them.

"Arrde isn't as helpless as you thought," Roderigo said. " She's making waves, Alpha."

My grip tightened on the folder. Arrde had never been business-savvy when I met her. She had been a quiet, reserved girl with no ambition, no skills, no power. Yet here she was, standing on her own, controlling things I hadn't even noticed.

It didn't make sense.

"Who's backing her?" I asked.

Roderigo shook his head. "That's the strange part. She's done this all on her own. No investors, no loans, nothing. Just her."

I slammed the folder shut, my jaw tightening. "That's impossible."

"It's the truth."

I exhaled slowly, pushing back against the irritation rising inside me. "So, what? She thinks she can outgrow me? She thinks she can turn into someone powerful and walk away unscathed?"

Roderigo remained silent. He knew better than to answer when I was like this.

I leaned back in my chair, tapping my fingers against the desk. This changed everything. If Arrde had truly built this empire on her own, it meant she had hidden depths I had never bothered to see. That only made me more curious.

How had she done it?

Who had taught her?

Memories of the night she left the Purple Tide Pack after flinging those divorce papers at me. For a second I felt a jolt of pain in my chest.

I hoped she would return at midnight because she had no where to go, but I knocked once. No answer.

Knocked again.

Still nothing.

Frustration growing, I reached for the handle, only to find the door unlocked.

I pushed it open, stepping inside. The scent of her lingered in the air-lavender and something faintly citrus. It was unsettling how much I had missed it.

Her room was neat, but something felt... off. The lights were dimmed, and there was a strange stillness in the air, as if someone had been here recently but left in a hurry.

I was about to leave when something else caught my eye. A small envelope tucked beneath the stack of papers. I pulled it out, flipping it over. My name was written on the front in Arrde's delicate handwriting.

I ripped it open, unfolding the letter inside.

Myron,

By the time you find this, I'll be gone. I know you, and I knew you'd come looking. I wanted to be the one to tell you-this is not about you anymore.

You thought I was weak. You thought I would always need you. But I don't. I never did.

You took me in out of pity, but I stayed out of obligation. Now, I owe you nothing.

I never needed your protection. I never needed you.

And now, you will never have me again.

Goodbye.

I crushed the letter in my fist, my entire body tense with rage.

A deep, guttural growl escaped me as I turned on my heel and stormed out of the apartment.

This wasn't over.

Not by a long shot.

I yanked my phone out of my pocket, dialing Roderigo.

"Find her," I ordered the second he picked up.

A brief pause. "You're sure?"

I clenched my jaw. "Do it. Now!"
