Sylvester opened his eyes and saw that it was morning, he had cultivated all through the night and despite his tiredness he wanted to cultivate more.
"I should rest, I don't want to ruin this body again." Sylvester muttered. If he underwent a breakthrough by any chance in his very tired state, he could end up damaging one of his body systems and crippling himself. This was why he had to bid his time.
A night full of cultivation was enough for him. Sylvester climbed into the bed and shut his eyes.
"Sylvester, please are you awake?" Emily called as she pushed open the door to her husband's room.
She met him on the bed, sound asleep and he didn't even realize that someone had walked in.
Emily held her head and sighed, "I can't believe he is still like this. I thought he changed when I saw him back then." She muttered to herself, remembering how her husband had been so heroic at the matriarch's house.
Shaking her head, Emily left to prepare to visit the company. She had to be early. It was obvious her brother would go for something high but since Sylvester told her to go for the second company. She would trust his guts.
"He's the one who created this annoying bet anyway so he would not lead me astray." Emily smiled to herself, gazing at the mighty gates of Diamond Break Company.
The large reception hall in the company was really big and Emily felt cold sweat run down her back. This company was multiple times larger than hers.
"How may I help you please?" The voice of a young man attracted her attention and she showed him her card.
"Oh you are Emily Wright? Emily Wright?" Hozert asked with excitement. He had come down from his office for a little stroll and noticed this lady's lost behaviour.
Who would have thought that this was the wife of his famous boss.
Emily was confused, "I'm sorry but have we met please. I really apologize but I don't remember this face." She gave an awkward look, trying to be polite.
"Heh?" Hozert realized his mistake. He was familiar with her husband instead of her. His master's instructions not to expose his identity rang in his head. He secretly praised his master for scoring such a beautiful woman and her picture didn't do justice to her looks.
"I'm sorry but I thought you looked like someone. How may I help you please?" Hozert asked, leading her to his office.
"Okay. I wanted to see the owner of the company please, if you'd direct him to me. I need to submit a proposal to him." Emily tried to explain her reasons for coming. She knew that meeting her cousin here wouldn't do her good.
"Alright, follow me then. I know where you can find him." Hozert was patient, this was his master's wife after all.
Emily nodded her head and followed him.
The office was a lot bigger than she expected.
"You are the boss? Are you sure we haven't met before?" Emily's eyes widened as Hozert skimmed through her document.
Without his master's involvement, he would have given this lady his signature immediately.
Emily walked out of the office, the document was held closely to her chest and she was full of smiles.
It wasn't meant to be as easy as this and she thanked her lucky stars.
Her phone buzzed with a message. "It's Cullen." She mouthed and clicked open the text. Instantly her smile fell.
The text was simple and straight.
'Heading to the Jades group and once I get that proposal, you'd be sleeping on the streets and your husband as my security guard.'
Emily bit her lips, if Cullen truly went ahead with his plans, Sylvester would be worse and she couldn't let that happen.
Would contacting more trustworthy companies be best at this stage?
Back in the Wright's mansion, Sylvester was woken up by a call.
"You need to have a very good reason for calling me at this time, Kathrina." Sylvester groaned into the phone.
On the other side, Kathrina turned red. She was hearing her boss' bedroom voice for the first time since he decided to go off the grid. This was really serious, and ever since Hozert told her about his recovery, she had been wanting to call him.
"I am so sorry boss, but it is really important." Kathrina gave her sweetest voice. She wanted her boss to leave his ungrateful wife, so she can at least have a chance to herself.
"I'm listening." Sylvester sat up.
"Someone came in here for a proposal, and wants to sign with our company. His name is Cullen–"
"Reject him, in the most brutal way possible." Sylvester didn't want to listen anymore. He had already known that Cullen would go for the top dog and Sylvester would kindly put him in his place.
"Yes sir." Kathrina smiled. She thought spending years in a wheelchair would soften her boss but she was glad to see that he was just as brutal as she remembered. This was why she loved him.
"May I visit you, sir?' Kathrina asked, and her cheeks reddened more when she realised the meaning of her questions. "I mean, if you don't have someone there and you need things to be done." The redness flowed down to her neck.
"I just want to check up on you, and maybe bring some lunch over." She sighed, trying to calm herself down.
Sylvester rose up from his bed. "It's fine, Kathrina. I'll see you soon. No one should know that I am back. You know the war hasn't ended yet and I need to check some things undercover." There was a distant look on his face.
Ending this war finally would give Emily true peace, and maybe he can also build a family with her.
However, he needed to cultivate for now, and get rid of any distractions that could ruin his plan.
"Do you need me to tell them to come help you out. Doing the dirty work isn't good for your image, sir." Kathrina was careful with her work.
"Undercover" means I don't want to draw attention. I don't need to make unnecessary killings. I just need information." With that sentence, Sylvester ended the call.
Winning this bet was the first plan to rise to the top. Then, after crushing this mere issue, he would go back to building his name.
His senses went around the area of the home, and his ears perked up. At that moment, the building shook, and Sylvester went into action.
He was close to getting to the next cultivation level. Currently at the peak of warrior levels, it would be nice to test his skills on some invaders.
