Chapter 5 Invitation

"I want to end this relationship...! Let's get a divorce, Aaron Campbell!"

There was no doubt in Audrey heart when she said that sentence. It was like she was absolutely sure that it was the right choice.

Their marriage was no longer healthy. Neither she nor Aaron were happy in this bond.

"What did you say?" Aaron asked Audrey while frowning in surprise.

He was shocked...?

Most likely yes. Because she, who was usually crazy about him, was now cold.

"Are you sure you want a divorce?"

Audrey took a deep breath and looked at Aaron with conviction.

"Do I look like I have doubts? Aaron, I'm one hundred percent sure. After we divorce, I won't interfere with your life anymore."

"And you can also marry Stella," she said with confidence.

For a moment, Aaron looked stunned.

Audrey seemed to catch another light from the look in Aaron's eyes when he looked at her.

'Was she wrong to say something like that?' Audrey talk inside.

"Hem, ... you better think again, Audrey. Don't let you regret it later. You decided to divorce me without any preparation. Have you forgotten the new Hepburn family doesn't like you? They've already dumped you. So you can't go back there."

"You also don't have the skills and ability to work."

"Do you want to be homeless?" Aaron's words sounded like mockery to Audrey's ears.

Yes, he was mocking at her.

Mocking Audrey who is not like Stella, educated and beautiful.

What exactly is this man in front of me planning? He shouldn't care how I live my life after divorcing him, Audrey said inside.

Wasn't it yesterday he wanted this divorce so much? But why is he acting like it's me who really wants this divorce and not him?

Does he want to make my image look even worse in the eyes of his family and my family?

Audrey keep thinking about Aaron. Why he act like that.

"Enough, ...how did Mister Aaron care so much about me?"

"After all, isn't this what you wanted?" she snorted coldly.

Aaron smirked, showing an increasingly obvious mocking expression.

"Don't get me wrong. I actually don't care about you at all. It's just that grandpa and grandma must have forbidden us from getting divorced..."

What the hell?

Now Audrey can see clearly, what is Aaron's purpose.

Apparently, he wants to make faces in front of his grandparents.

Just say that he's afraid that his name will be crossed off the Campbell family's inheritance list.

His grandparents had threatened that he wouldn't get a penny of the Campbell family fortune if he dared to hurt Audrey, or divorce her.

"I'll talk to grandpa and grandma myself, don't worry if they blame you..."

Aaron's face hardened. Those dark-colored eyes looked gloomy and looked troubled.

"Alright, if that's what you want. If you insist on getting a divorce from me. My assistant will take care of it..." Aaron's voice snapped.

"Okay, that is good."

"If you have nothing else to say, you'd better get out..." Audrey said.

Aaron looked at Audrey sharply, as if he was holding back a rage that was ready to explode at any moment.

"You dare to throw me out, Audrey!" he hissed unhappily.

"I dare not, honorable Mister Aaron. I am sick and near death. Couldn't you be a little kinder?"

"I'm sorry if I'm being presumptuous, but please, just leave me alone?" She said as she clasped her hands together, making Aaron even more annoyed.

Without another word, the man left her room.

She stared at Aaron's back that slowly disappeared behind the door, then breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed like the weight on her shoulders was slightly lifted after she expressed that she wanted to separate from Aaron.

A few days later,

Audrey insisted on going home even though the doctor hadn't authorized it. The head wound from the accident hadn't fully healed.

The doctor was supposed to keep a close eye on the progress of my wound and do a CT scan to get more accurate results. Because they feared that the nervous system in her brain had been disrupted by the violent impact of the accident.

Audrey took a taxi back to the house.

She purposely didn't call Henry. Because she didn't want to inconvenience anyone.

But when she entered the living room, she heard Levi's voice calling her.

"Miss Audrey..."

Audrey looked back and saw Levi standing behind her. He bowed his head briefly as soon as she turned her head.

"Good morning, Miss Audrey..." he greeted.

"Morning, what's wrong?" Audrey asked coldly.

"Miss, you left the hospital early. I came there earlier and didn't find you."

"Hemmm, I insisted on going home!" she replied curtly.

His face looked surprised, but he didn't dare to ask.

"I was bored in the hospital!" She said in the same tone.

Levi nodded in understanding and seemed to take a deep breath.

Honestly, she had already guessed the purpose of Levi coming to see her.

"Miss Audrey, are you sure about divorcing Mister Aaron? There is still time to withdraw your lawsuit."

Although she had already guessed what Levi wanted to talk about, she was surprised to hear his question.

For a moment, Audrey was stunned, before finally nodding.

"Yes, I want a divorce," she answered without hesitation.

"If I may know, what is the reason why Miss Audrey suddenly wants a divorce from Master?"

Yes, Levi was indeed very surprised because he knew that Audrey was the one who was so crazy about Aaron. Levi knows very well how Audrey struggled to get Aaron's rock-hard heart.

Which, in the end, she gave up because Aaron apparently never paid attention to this self and closed his heart tightly to Audrey..

She chose to sit down.

Standing too long made her head dizzy. The effects of the accident had not fully healed.

"Do I have to explain everything to you, Levi?"

"I'm tired."

"I'm the only one struggling in this marriage, Aaron isn't."

She grabbed a magazine on the table and flipped through the pages bored.

Levi nodded. He understood what Audrey meant. He looked at her with a pitying gaze.

Like Henry, Levi was also a witness to how Aaron always rejected her.

"Miss, if you divorce then you won't get anything from Mister Aaron."

"I don't need his money!" Audrey said quickly.

"Even though Aaron is very rich, he's very stingy with me."

Levi couldn't comment. Actually, he came here on Aaron's orders. He also said that because he hoped that she would cancel her divorce plan from Aaron.

"Okay then, I will help you with the divorce proceedings as soon as possible. By the way, next week there will be a meeting of the Campbell family. You must be aware of this event. You are asked to attend."

"Miss Audrey, this is an order." Levi handed Audrey an invitation with a luxurious and elegant cover.

At that moment, Audrey just snorted coldly.

All this time, Aaron had never brought her to family events or even to the events of Aaron's other relatives.

Aaron said she didn't deserve to be there because she wasn't Stella.

Of course, Aaron always compared Audrey to the far superior Stella.

Stella's beauty was already recognized by everyone. She was like a goddess that no one could touch. Even my own father was very indulgent to his daughter.

Considering that, she was surprised by Aaron's attitude in suddenly asking Audrey to come to his family's event.

Audrey flipped through the invitation in she hand without intending to look at the contents.

"All this time, Aaron has always refused to invite me to his family events... "

Audrey put the invitation on the table and looked at Levi.

"Tell your boss I'm not coming to the event!"
