They drove in silence; Jayden fiddling with his phone and Marcus working on his tablet. Both men were trying to ignore the others presence.
After a while of driving, The car came to a stop and Jayden looked up from his phone at building in front of him. It was a large row of warehouses.
Jayden looked towards Marcus in question to find him staring right at him. His eyes looked darker than the usual grey. Jayden raised a brow in question and Marcus gestured at the building.
"You will be meeting Madam Kim and handing over the crates in the van behind us. Tell her you came because I want to reverse my order.
Can you do that?" he asked and Jayden paused slightly before nodding. There was no going back now. He was tempted to ask what was in the crate but knew to keep his mouth shut. Whatever was in there was nothing good.
"Is there anything I should be paying attention to or anyone?" Jayden asked. He was scared, but tried hard to not let it show. He refused to let Marcus win.
Jayden was not sued to being in this situation. He had lived a very 'by the book' life. He hoped he would not get himself killed here, or worse, caught by the authorities.
Marcus was a man who could smell fear like a shark could blood in the vastness of the sea. He was experience to know that Jayden was afraid. This was what he wanted, but it made him uncomfortable.
"Madam Kim is all you should know. There is no need for you to do anything but deliver it for me. It is a simple drop off," Marcus explained.
Hearing this, Jayden resisted the urge to ask him why he did not go himself if it was so simple. He swallowed his retort and nodded.
"Alright,"
Marcus could tell Jayden did not want to be there, but complied. It made his discomfort grow. A bit of guilt started to slip through.
"I have put two of my guards on you, Jim and Lee. They will keep you safe. While in there, they obey your orders, but it is best to do as they say. A broker will meet you at the door." he said and Jayden nodded and got out of the car seemingly unfazed, but secretly shaking inside. Jayden stepped out with Lee and Jim. The moment he walked over to the entrance, he saw a tall woman waiting at the entrance of the warehouse.
"That is the broker." Joe gestured to the woman and Jayden stopped as his eyes met the broker.
The woman nodded and walked inside without any sort of explanation. It was clear everything had been set up and there was no need for him to be there. This made
Jayden more suspicious of Marcus's reasons for having him deliver the crates.
They were led inside and up the stairs after the broker talked to the men at the door. They entered a private room with the crates and after a few minutes, a small Asian woman in a green suit entered. Jayden guessed she was Madam Kim.
"I heard you are Mr. Night's secretary. Why have you come in his place?" Madam Kim asked.
"Marcus...Mr. Night said you are to reverse his order," Jayden said and Madam Kim paused.
"Is Mr. Night not satisfied with my product?" she asked with a frown.
"You would have to ask Marcus...Mr. Night this," Jayden said.
Madam Kim's frown deepened for a fraction of a second before she nodded and asked for the crates.
Lee and Jim handed it over. When the crates were open for inspection, Jayden froze at the sight of guns.
Jayden was not sure how he walked out of that warehouse. Marcus had him trade guns?. Jayden was not polish enough to think they were legal.
Jayden was angry and scared of Marcus at the same time. When he got back into the car, he remained quiet, barely speaking. Marcus could feel that he was angry and became filled with discomfort. As the car rolled away, Jayden remained quiet.
"How did it go?" Marcus asked.
"As easy as any drop off," Jayden seemed to mock and Marcus recalled his earlier words.
"You are not hurt..." Marcus started to say but Jayden's phone begun ringing.
Marcus watched as Jayden picked
the call and his face and voice softened. The sight irritated him.
Jayden ended the call and turned to Marcus. "I am fine right here," he asked to be dropped by a bus stop.
"Where do you live?" Marcus offered to send him home, but Jayden did not dare give Marcus his address.
"No need, we will not be meeting again," Jayden said and stepped out of the car.
Marcus found his temper raising yet nowhere to release it. He instructed his driver to return home. When he stepped into the living room, Harry was waiting for him.
"I figured you would be back by now," Harry said as he watched Marcus storm into the living room and reach for a bottle of scotch.
"You fought with Jayden?" Harry asked but Marcus silently took a swing of his drink.
"You should probably stop fighting him, you will regret it," Harry said and Marcus paused.
"The man who is renowned for his torture skills is telling me to go soft?" Marcus asked with a brow raised.
"I said you would regret it. Do it to anyone else, just not him. You are not in high school anymore. This will only hurt you," Harry said.
"I do think you are concerned about him. Have you grown sympathy for him or you regret helping me tease him in school?" Marcus asked.
"It's you I am concerned about," Harry said taking a seat, "hurting someone you love for attention is something children do." His words caused Marcus to look up sharply.
"Love? I don't swing that way. Do you know me at all?" Marcus asked.
"I never said you swung anyway. You like girls, sure but your eyes have a mind of their own when Jayden is involved. Back in high school I used to think that heated look you used to give him was hate, but I saw that look again today. You are love him," Harry said.
"You are crazy," Marcus said dismissively.
Alright then, Harry said picking up the TV remote and messing with it,
"You don't swing that way, but He and I swing that way. May be..."
His words had not even dropped on the lash living room when a bottle of scotch flew across the room and slammed near his head.
