Chapter 4 Thank you

Mrs. Ollie is a nice senior citizen. Several years ago, when some outlaws invaded the border, she lost her mate. He was one of our best warriors, but he tragically lost his life while attempting to save two of our younger warriors. In that assault, two of our own fighters also perished, along with all the rouges. One of the new warriors he was attempting to protect was Mrs. Ollies husband.

We entered the building through the door and proceeded down the hallway to a little room.

A twin bed was located in the corner of the room, and a rocking chair was placed in front of an unlit fireplace. A little nightstand by the bed contained a pair of glasses and a book, the title of which I was unable to discern.

Another door that led to a bathroom reserved just for the cook position was to the left.

The large bathroom was shared by the other rooms in the hallway. Mrs. Ollie went straight to the tall wardrobe in the opposite corner and opened it. I was instructed to sit on the bed as she pulled out a first-aid bag from within. She started to clean my wound after placing a small bit of alcohol on a cotton ball. The stinging that followed caused me to cringe just a little.

"I'm sorry, dear; I don't mean to hurt you, but we've got to get this fixed up so you don't get an infection," she replied.

I only agreed by nodding.

I had never gotten assistance previously with my wounds, so I was grateful for it. I've always had to steal the tools I needed to fix whatever went wrong, and I wasn't really sure where to start.

"Octavia, I understand that the Alpha forbade me from assisting you, but I pledge to the Moon Goddess above that I will never harm you. You can trust me because I disagree with the decisions the Alpha and pack members make, Mrs. Ollie stated as she finished the sutures I required in my forehead.

"Uhh, thank you, Mrs. Ollie, but for the sake of myself, I don't want you to go into trouble. Do not worry about me, please. I assure myself, "I'll be alright.

You don't need to be concerned about me, my dear. I'll be here for you always, she retorted.

I shed one tear after hearing her comments, for some reason. I blinked away the remainder as soon as it started to fall. I'm making an effort to contain the tears that are attempting to spill out of my eyes. Since I've never encountered this level of kindness before, I'm not really sure how to digest it all. I want to capture this exact moment in time. Leave this awful place with this sweet, lovely person. She and I don't belong in this world. a dark and hate-filled planet. She is the smallest glimmer of hope in this dark place.

No matter how much they beat me, if they find out, I will always be grateful to this kind woman.

I discreetly say to the moon goddess, "Thank you for allowing our paths to cross."
