I raced through the dense woods, my boots thudding against the forest floor, each step echoing my fierce determination while my breath came in ragged gasps and my adrenaline waned.
A loud, authoritative howl echoed through the forest, sending birds scattering from their perches and making all the animals dash for shelter to escape danger. It was so powerful that I had to stop running, and it also sounded miserable and upset.
"The Lycan king, scarlet let me take over", my wolf growled at me
Fuck! He looks like he's almost here. 'Scarlet, I need to take over,' my wolf responded with worry. I have a scheme, I informed her.
As I trail after a bunny and cut myself with a sharp pocket knife I have and spread my blood on it and let it run off, this should divert him for a moment.
I allowed Averia to take over the shift, experiencing the painful sensation of my bones cracking and reforming, which feels worse than what others describe. However, before long, Averia shook out her fur and dashed away, bursting with energy as her paws thudded against the forest floor while she sprinted. I came across a narrow stream and prompted her to swim and cleanse our scent. I caught a glimpse of her brown fur; she wasn't big, yet not too small for a female wolf. Following that, she continued on our path.
Everyone in the pack would have figured I had left for the Lycan king to be chasing after me. I heard another howl that sounded furious and familiar, keal. He likely felt the bond completely sever. And the pack would have felt the bond I shared with them had broken when I crossed the pack's border. I'm officially a rogue, not that they care.
The Lycan king is after me for whatever reason he thinks he has to be after me for, and I'm sure keal is here to drag me back and teach me a lesson. I would be damned to go back with him to the pack.
"We would be fine, Averia reassured me repeatedly, and I believe we would be.
The moonlight filtered through the canopy above, casting eerie shadows that seemed to reach out for us. We napped a bit until we heard a twig, and we took off further.
Averia was cautious not to cross any pack border or make herself seen by other rouge, we only passed through the noman's land and made a few stops to rest, hunt, and drink water from the streams and rivers.
We have been on the run for three days, I can feel myself getting tired, but I can't give up for the sake of my baby, and averia wasn't ready to give up too, but I had to remind her to reserve her strength for our pup.
I guess the Lycan king and Keal have given up or lost me since I can't hear them anymore, but I can't let my guard down.
Every rustle of leaves, every snap of a twig behind us, fueled averia's run, pushing her onward, No pack would want to accept us in as they are all skeptical about rouge and even if any pack wants to receive us in, the Lycan king would easily find us, the only place he would not think to check is the human city. A werewolf in the human city is a very rear occurrence.
Don't worry, little bean, mama will always protect you, I stated as I rubbed my flat belly.
Encountering a werewolf in a human city is uncommon since wolves operate in packs, favor natural environments, and enjoy the freedom of running wild. Even the rouge in the woods still travel together.
"The human city it is," my wolf expressed and continued running through the forest.
As the trees thinned, the distant glow of city lights beckoned like a guiding beacon. My heart hammer in my chest, averia gave me the control back, and I shifted back from my wolf.
We did it averia, we did it little bean, I whispered with a massive smile on my face as I rubbed my belly.
I emerged from the forest with no clothes into the edge of the human city. The unfamiliar sights and sounds of civilization surrounded me, a stark contrast to the primal world I had known.
With mix anxiety and hope in my wide eyes, I touched my flat belly and looked at the lively street, feeling engulfed by the noise of urban living. The place offered anonymity and a chance for a clean chance, a glimmer of possibility amidst the shadows of my past. With each step, I embrace the uncertainty of my new journey, determined to forge a future free from the constraints of my former way of life with my pup.
A fresh beginning, an obvious start, with our pup. My wolf said proudly.
But first we need to cover up, I suggested with a grin.
I reached into my bag, pulled out a T-shirt and shorts, and got dressed. On cue, my stomach grumbled, making me laugh.
Giggling, I responded, 'You must be feeling hungry, little bean.' Let's fill you up now, shall we?
A sudden dizziness beats me. Not today, please. I said as I hurriedly bent over and puked my guts out. I went over the road to get something to eat. Scarlet watch out" I heard my wolf yelled as a car slammed its brake, the dizziness strikes me again making me fall on my knees, My baby, I grip my stomach trying to breathe, a woman was talking to me, but I couldn't make out what she was saying, "Averia", what's going on I said panicking, but she did not reply it was like she was in me and also not in me.
I heard the woman scream, 'Someone call 911,' as I sensed the darkness beckoning me. Please... my baby, I murmured. I embraced the darkness as the last image I saw was the tear-streaked face of the woman talking to me.
