Chapter 5 Honest moments

Emily's heart raced as she met Ryan's gaze. She'd been wondering the same thing, but hadn't dared to say it out loud. Now, with Ryan's eyes locked onto hers, she felt like she was standing at a crossroads. "I...I don't know," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've thought about it, I guess. But I didn't want to ruin our friendship." Ryan's expression softened, and he took a step closer to her. "I know what you mean," he said, his voice low and gentle. "I've thought about it too. A lot, actually." Emily's pulse quickened as Ryan's words hung in the air.

She felt like she was melting into his gaze, like the whole world had narrowed down to this one moment. "Ryan?" she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "Yeah?" he replied, his eyes never leaving hers. "I think I might feel the same way," Emily said, her words tumbling out in a rush.
