Chapter 5 NOT LONG IN THIS CITY

NOT LONG IN THIS CITY

It was the weekend. The next day, Ophelia woke up early enough and went for her morning exercise; on doing that, she came home to tidy up her space. Walking towards the kitchen, she decided to make a meal for herself; searching the cupboard, there were no ingredients to make breakfast.

"Ouch, this is not looking good. I would have to go to the grocery store to get groceries, and I'm so famished," she thought aloud; pulling her hands through her hair, she signed, " I'll just tidy up before going," She said while humming a song. When she was done, she took her card with her and then straight to the grocery store.

In the grocery store, while sorting out her ingredients she heard a familiar voice calling out her name, On recognizing the voice she rolled her eyes, seems like today was going to be ruined then she turned around, Just then two girls walked towards her

"I told you she was the one" one of the girls named Caroline said walking behind Wren one that seemed like the boss, on reaching Ophelia's line of sight Wren scoffed

"Ophelia, how have you been?" Caroline chipped in, observing Ophelia closely. Ophelia had always been beautiful, with smooth skin like that made with special flavor. This made them dislike her because she always had the attention of boys.

"How do you expect me to be? I'm hale and healthy, as you can see," she replied,, matching their energy. These girls were of no good whenever they were around

"You-" Caroline said, id fuming with anger.

"Of course, you'll be, it's been a long since we last saw since college we were just curious about your well-being, Caroline is a C-list actress and just played an important role as a secondary lead and I on the other hand as you know will take over my dad's company," Wren said clearly flaunting their achievements

"Yeah, Wren's right, I'm currently shooting a movie at this location so we thought it'll only be nice if we take a look around, we weren't expecting to meet you here," Caroline said proudly

"You would have achieved much since you were clearly brilliant and outstanding," Wren said sarcastically

" That's great for you guys if that's all, you'll excuse me I have something important to attend to," Ophelia said and left the grocery store with her ingredients, she wouldn't bother wasting her time on those girls

"Did she just walk out on us? Argh! She really is something" Caroline said angrily

"Let's just leave. You shouldn't be late for your next shoot," Wren said, clearly upset, looking in the direction of Ophelia with a meaningful gaze.

"That's true; we shouldn't be bothered by her," Caroline said,d, then changed the topic as they walked out of the store.

On getting home Ophelia went straight to the kitchen to make her breakfast and ate she thought of sleeping and taking a very good rest, Just then she heard a knock on her door, Opening it she was amazed at whom she saw it was no other than her very good friend who taught her how to fight for defense and he was so good he was like her boss

"Won't you let me in? Are you just going to watch me stand outside your door? he said laughing at her expression

"Oh, come in, mind my manners, boss. I'm just shocked," Ophelia said.

Atticus entered the house and sat down on the sofa observing the surroundings he smiled at her

"I know you have a lot of questions to ask, but I'll answer you one after the other. Just give me food first; I'm so hungry," he said.

"If it's not food, then what will it be," Ophelia said, rolling her eyes at him, then she walked towards the kitchen. Atticus was a guy who was vast in martial arts; he didn't have a particular place to stay. He wandered about and came out like a shadow in hiding, and that was how she met him.

"Your food is here," Ophelia said, i,d walking in his direction. He grabbed the plate and dug in like one who had been starved with hunger for days.

"Have you not been eating?" Ophelia said rolling her eyes at his table manners

" No, don't you see how slim I am"

"I doubt, you look even more good looking," Ophelia said

" I know you are flattering me, he said smiling; how about you, how have you been?".

" I've been doing great at least just looking for a new job and guess what," she said smiling

"What? " he replied

"There's this company that's in need of a secretary, their branch just came into City T., I submitted my application already and I'm waiting for a response," she said very excited

" So you're waiting for an email right? , That's great news "

"Yes I am," she said, staring at her phone from time to time so she would receive a notification.

"Okay, let me get going," he said, standing up and moving toward the direction of the door. Just then, Ophelia blocked his path.

"So you just came to eat?, Don't you think you're supposed to pay for the meal" she said firmly

" What should I pay you with?"

"How about we get into a fight to test my ability, you've not seen how good I am" Ophelia replied beaming with a smile

"Alright then as you wish". With that, they went to a secluded space nearby and practiced until she was exhausted.

In the hospital, Milton woke up and observed his surroundings; from the look of things, it seemed like that girl was able to save him, and then he tried recollecting the girl's face but to no avail. He didn't push further since it was dark, and he lost consciousness along the way, but he could still perceive her scent. Just then, he furrowed his brows. It hadn't been long since he came to this city. How come he was attacked, or was there someone who knew his whereabouts - he thought once he got discharged from the hospital, he would get to the bottom of it, then he picked up his cell phone and called Roland.
