Chapter 6 A Kiss

Chapter Six

A Kiss?

"Fine!" She rolled her eyes. She did not blame him. He was from a rich family so it was obvious he was okay with perfectly good coffee going to waste. "It's not like I enjoyed drinking it," she scoffed. "Go on with your order."

He signalled for a waitress to come over. "I'd like an iced salted caramel latte, a croissant and a cinnamon roll."

She smiled seductively at him and batted her lashes. Leaning closer to him, she adjusted her position so that it put emphasis on her cleavage. "Anything else?"

"What will you have love?"

Camilla stared at him incredulously. His voice has been so soft and sweet that she almost believed he was in love with her.

"Love?" Logan prodded, squeezing her hand across the table gently. "What would you like to have?"

"Um," she cleared her throat hastily. The waitress was staring daggers at her. "I'll have the same thing, without the coffee."

Logan picked up the menu from the table. "She'll have a strawberry slushie to go with it. My girlfriend has had enough coffee today because of her boss at work."

She shot him a glare and then turned to the waitress whose smile faltered at Logan when he called Camilla his girlfriend. "A strawberry slushie is fine."

Camilla rolled her eyes once the waitress was out of sight. "Jeez, what a seductress."

"My, are you jealous?" Logan teased. He removed his hands from hers and winked at her.

"You can only wish," she scoffed in response then adjusted her sitting posture. "So what's the point of this date?"

"To discuss the terms of the contract."

"In a coffee shop? Seriously?" Camilla raised her eyebrows. "What if someone eavesdrops or worse, sees the contract? Like that waitress who wanted to bury your face in her chest?"

Logan snickered. "Then we'll discuss it in my car."

"We could have discussed it at the office," she rolled her eyes. "Whatever."

Camilla glanced to the left, the waitress was returning with their order, sashaying her hips like a runway model.

"Here you go," she said in a seductive whisper to Logan, setting his snacks delicately on the table. She had a scowl on her face when she served Camilla.

"Where did you grow up?" Logan asked when the waitress was out of earshot.

"Different places. I moved a lot as a kid."

"Oh?"

"Yeah. I was born in Austin, Texas then when my dad died we moved to Georgia and midway into high school I came to New York."

"That's not a lot of places," Logan commented.

"Yeah, because I skipped the fact that I lived in four different states from middle school till my first year at high school."

"So seven states so far," Logan mumbled, taking a sip of his coffee. He made a face of disgust and set it aside.

"How about you?"

"Well, I was born and raised in New York. My father is from Austin, Texas but business brought him here."

"Cool," Camilla shrugged. Then after a few minutes of silence, she said, "This is boring."

"You are boring," Logan shrugged.

"Oh? Well since you're the 'not boring' person, make this fun."

"I never said I was interesting," Logan shrugged. "Are you in a relationship?"

"If I were in one, I wouldn't consider your offer."

"You might've; desperate times call for desperate measures."

"Oh please," she rolled her eyes.

"I'm not surprised though," Logan commented. He had not touched his croissant or cinnamon roll. "Have you ever been in a relationship at all?"

"Why?"

"You moved around a lot, I'd say you didn't have room for stability which is crucial in a relationship."

"I didn't move around for college."

"That doesn't answer my question," Logan rolled his eyes. "The answer is no, is it not?"

"Are you trying to mock me?" She narrowed her eyes.

"It's a question."

"No," she answered with an eye roll. "Have you?"

"Nothing serious," he shrugged.

"Nothing serious?"

"Yeah, just flings. I can't stay celibate all my life,"

"I do hope I am not obligated to sleep with you as part of the contract."

"We will discuss the contract in the car."

"Tell me now!" She demanded. "Or I might as well walk out!"

"What makes you think I'd want to sleep with you?" Logan scoffed. "You're not 'all that'," he rolled his eyes.

Camilla felt insulted but she was not going to back down. "People like you put their dick in everything," she scoffed.

"Do not speak to me like that," he seethed.

"What? Is it a lie?"

"Let's be on our way," he said coldly, standing up. He signalled for the waitress and paid the bill then held her hand firmly and dragged her out of the coffee shop.

"Why are you dragging me?"

"I am holding your hands like couples do," he hissed.

Then with a very sweet smile that was hard to believe, he opened the door for her "Get in." His voice was cold but his expression did not betray it.

When Logan had gotten in, he opened the dashboard and pulled out a document. "You can read through it."

"Okay," she replied, opening the document. Her eyes scanned it lazily and it was reasonable enough. All she had to do was keep the contract to herself and pretend they were a couple in public. She could not have public romantic relationships either. "Sounds good." She took a pen from her purse and signed it.

"I'll mail you a copy," Logan told her. "In public, we must behave like a couple," he said leaning over to her. "There are certain things couples do in public."

Camilla swallowed hard. "Um, okay?"

"Do you know what couples do in public?" He asked.

"Of course," she chuckled nervously. "Hold hands and uh... Hug."

"Sometimes it's more than that."

"What do you mean?"

He held her neck softly and looked into her eyes, then swiped her hair away from her face. His fingers brushed her lips gently and he leaned in closer.
