Chapter 4 Emily's POV

I pressed the off button and focused my gaze back on the press.

"And thank you for coming.."

With that, I averted the stage while Dylan paved way for me.

"Mr Hudson, why are you here though? They're also securities meant for this right?" I said with a smile trying to sound as soft as possible.

"Your dad may have not informed you yet, but I'm your secretary." He bellowed, bit of excitement hinted at his voice.

And I scoffed, No, I choked on my saliva. How could he say something like that so easily.

"You're a CEO Dylan, a company owner, what are you saying?"

"I willingly applied to be your secretary and I got the job that's all, don't get me wrong I wouldn't get paid."

I couldn't help but let out a chuckle.

What was he saying.

"Well Dylan, I get to decide who would be my secretary not my Father."

"No, this is final, you need Dylan not only as your secretary but also to put you through on the practical aspect of your studies." Father came out from a conner and chimmed in.

Gosh!

Then my other phone came bickering at everyone's ear.

What does he want, it was not even upto the given date.

"Excuse me please." I left everyone's presence to walk into my office.

"What do you want!"

"We need to talk, how much were you hiding?"

He muttered from the other end and I couldn't help but smirked.

Obviously, he saw the news.

"I don't have anything to say to you, once is the D-day I'll surely come get the papers. Now if you don't mind?" I muttered with every bit of coldness in my heart and hung up.

Then his call came in again, I had no choice but to fre!king switch off my phone.

I shuffled through the files on my desk,

Heavy sigh escaped my lungs as I realized I really had alot to do.

Then Dylan suddenly badged into the office. No he didn't badged in, he came into the office. I really didn't want him around me, it made me feel a bit awkward, but it seemed I had to get used to it now.

He took the documents to the broader part of my office.

And pointed at the couch.

"You'll be more comfortable looking at it from here."

I looked up at him, maybe I was angry.

How could he be like that, I thought he moved on, couldn't he get himself some beautiful girl and just forget about me whose life is even a mess now?

"I'm only doing my job Lily."

Wait,

Did I say something loud?

Well what was there to loose, if he heard me loud, then he could as well just leave.

"A job you're not getting paid?"

"Can you review these documents now? they need your signature as soon as possible."

I sighed and stood up to the couch.

Just before my eyes, it was already dark outside.

So hectic than I thought, with Dylan never failing to help.

"You can go home, I'll take it from here."

With all the yawning and tiredness, I didn't bother to object. I swiftly took my bag and staggered away.

I walked out of the company and then boarded a taxi,

When I sat down, I muttered my address and he drove off.

When I dropped,

I couldn't wait to get into my bathtub and shower this tiredness off my body. But something was definitely off. Outrageously off but I couldn't pinpoint on it.

Not until he called my name.

Come to think of it, where was my car.

I twitched my head to the direction of the sound.

Ethan?

"What are you doing here?" I asked and his brows raised.

"That's the question for you Lily??"

I suddenly looked around, and truly he was right, the question was for me.

What was I doing at his house.

Indeed old habits they say really takes time to say goodbye.

I had to look for idea, there was no way I should make him found out I lost my way.

"Yea.. yea.. I ehmm.." I was lost for words.

Then something popped up at my head,

I ransacked my bag and brought out a paper. Thanks goodness it was in my bag.

Father had cut down the days to finalize the annulment and gave me the papers earlier.

"I came to give you this." I forwarded the papers and his gaze narrowed as he opened it.

"It's late, you should've leave it till tomorrow, you look tired."

What does he care.

"It's my life now, I do whatever I want to do at anytime, any day." I muttered and turned my back to leave.

"Get some rest, I'll see you tomorrow."

"No, you will never see me! I promise you that!" I was damn mad at myself.

I'll still need to see him at the court right? gosh I was furious.

How could I have lost my way.

Then a car suddenly pulled at my front, with Dylan poking out his head.

Whoah this night was one to remember.

What was he doing here.

"Dylan??"

"Get into the car let's go."

I looked back at Ethan who was still staring and I smirked.

I walked elegantly to the opened door and sat down.

Yes I moved on, it was my mind that made the mistake not my heart.

"Can you please not tell my Father anything about this?"

"Jason already told him you went to your other apartment."

Thanks goodness.

"And how did you find me?"

He smiled.

"When I saw your car, I was doubting, then Jason's call came in that you were not home, then I figured everything out, you might have one or two things you want to discuss here, so I came."

I smiled a bit, atleast he didn't get to find out I lost my mind.

"So what did you guys talked about."

"About the divorce of course.."

"You were tired, you should've gone home." He muttered making me choked. If only he knew I had lost my way.

"Well..I can't wait to get separated from the jerk y'know."

"Can't wait either."

I heard a whisper and I hoped it wasn't from him.

"Alright thanks for today." I came down and catwalked away to my room. With what I just did, I dared not behave tired, I needed to hold onto the last integrity I had.

I went straight to my bathtub and switched on the warm water on myself.
