Chapter 7 BLOOD MOON PACK (1)

Lucian's POV

I sat with my eyes closed with particularly no thought in mind except for the little woman who sat next to me. I could see her giving me subtle glances, thinking I was asleep.

Earlier, I had massaged her forehead but she ruined the moment with her questions. Right from when we met, I knew there was more to her than what others saw.

She shifted uncomfortably on the seat, I could tell she had more questions to ask as her green eyes were filled with curiosity. Obviously, I knew the question she had in mind; my missing wives.

Different rumours had spread far and wide about my wives that had gone missing, but I didn't care what was said about me. But one thing was sure, she was mine to protect.

Weeks back when her father had offered her to me, I thought nothing of it. But after seeing her during the rogue attack, I couldn't explain the sudden urge to protect her.

I was blinded by rage when I saw the scars inflicted on her by her father. If I could have my way, I would have done worse to him than just whipping. But I knew she wouldn't be pleased.

It was obvious she didn't like her father, but her feelings would be hurt if I were to do what I had in mind. I noticed the joy in her mother's eyes when Iris's father was getting whipped.

I had expected her to be mistreated by her father, because no sane person would give their daughter out in marriage to me after the rumours of my missing wives.

I also caught sight of the exchange between her and a man who drove him, he seemed to be the alpha of the pack. I made a mental note to deal with him later. No one looks at what's mine.

"How long is the journey going to take?" I heard her ask.

After a few moments of silence, I heard her sigh and relaxed her head on the car seat.

"A day." I eventually replied.

I looked at her wrist and noticed how thin they were, then my gaze went up to her exposed shoulders which was as a result of her shirt which I tore.

"You should eat." I suggested.

As expected, she refused but the growling of her stomach cut her short. I called unto Azariel to bring forth the food which he did with a snap of his fingers.

I watched how her eyes widened, her luscious pink lips parted slowly in shock. I withdrew my eyes before my thoughts could go further.

"Thank you, but I would like to-" She started off.

I knew what she was thinking, that the food was made of magic and Azariel was probably a sorcerer. Her expression amused me.

"There was food in the car, he just brought it to you." I said, before she couldn't ask more questions.

She threw me a glare, which I caught unto. I was sure she was pissed at the way I cut her short. I watched her hesitatingly look at the food, her stomach growled again and her cheek turned red.

I kept my gaze on her as she ate. After she was done, she fell asleep almost immediately. Actually, there was a sleeping potion in the meal. There was a road which I didn't want her to see.

Giving her one last look, I sighed and closed my eyes.

"Azariel, why hasn't the portal been closed?" I asked.

"Some elders still want to investigate further." He answered.

"But-" He paused.

"But what Azariel?"

"I think Elder Damon has been acting strange lately. I perceived the scent of rogues on him."

My eyes snapped open immediately. Elder Damon was one of the strongest and sly elders. Now he was moving with the rogues, he was obviously planning to tamper with the portal.

"Continue keeping an eye on him. We'll strike once I'm done with some matters at hand."

"Yes my lord."

I looked at Iris whose head now laid on my lap. I brush off the hair that settled on a part of her face. Her pouty lips were slightly parted as she snored softly.

I shut my eyes, deciding to take a nap when I felt a hand run across my lap. I raised a brow, looking down to see Iris. Her eyes were still closed, but her hands were on my legs.

My lips twitched as I watched her hands run up my chest. A smile tugged at my lips as I wondered if she was dreaming. Her hands slowly caressed my chest before going down.

I squinted my eyes and gripped her hand immediately before she could go further. It seemed it woke her up as she immediately sat up with her eyes wide open.

"I'm...I'm sorry. It's...I...that was a mistake." Iris stuttered.

I watched her, amused. Without saying a word, I looked away. She was probably fidgeting.

"We have arrived." I muttered.

"Oh, I see." I heard her say, her voice barely a whisper.

Azariel parked the car in the garage and alighted to open the car door for both of us.

Iris stepped out, walking with calculated steps as she paused in front of the mansion. She didn't gasp or make a shock and expression but I could see she was admiring the building.

"Ah, Lord Lucian. Welcome back." A voice said and I looked forward.

"Elder Nicolai." I acknowledged.

"I see you're back with our...bride." He drawled, and I had the urge to rip his head off.

"Nice to meet you milady." He said as he kissed the back of Iris's hand who only scratched her head awkwardly.

My eyes turned cold as I watched this, he was obviously doing this on purpose. I watched as he talked with Iris, with his eyes constantly shifting to her hips.

"Azariel, off with his eyes." I commanded in a cold voice.
