Chapter 7 Seven

Lillian opened her eyes slowly, having no idea where she was or what was going on. She was alone and confused. Her gaze moved through the room and finally landed on the drip connected to her hand. Then, she realized she was in a hospital room. She must have had a little accident or something.

But where is her whole family? Her father wouldn't have left her side in this kind of situation. She looked around for her phone but couldn't find it. Just then, the door to the room opened and she sighed in relief.

It was a nurse. She looked at her with a little smile that felt more like a sympathetic look to Lillian.

"Glad you are awake, Miss Scott. You've been unconscious for three days." The nurse informed.

'Wow, three days?' Lillian asked herself.

"How are you feeling?" The nurse further asked.

"I think I feel okay." Lillian replied with an unsure tone.

She really felt fine but she was still curious as to how she landed in a hospital and was desperate to be filled in on that particular information.

The door opened and two men walked in, they definitely weren't hospital workers. Now, Lillian was starting to get overwhelmed with the unfamiliar faces, especially the two men, she wasn't really a fan of men who wasn't her family members.

"Glad to see you're awake, Miss Scott. I'm Peter." The first man introduced himself.

"And I'm Will. We are really sorry about what happened. We are police officers and we just have a few questions for you. We will really appreciate your cooperation." The second man, Will said, and Lillian was more confused.

What did she do? Did she commit a crime?

"Hi. Umm....I would like to cooperate too but I really don't understand what you people are talking about right now. Can you please lend me your phone for some minutes?" Lillian asked.

Peter took out his phone hesitantly, unlocked it and gave it to her. They watched for about two minutes as she dialed number after number without anyone replying to the calls.

Lillian had tried her parents' and Sage's number, she knows their number by heart. It rang of course but none of them were picking up, that gave her a little scare. She felt abandoned.

"Who are you calling, if I may ask?" Peter asked.

"Oh, just my family members. No one is picking, I hope they are alright."

"What?" Will uttered in confusion. "Does she not remember?" He asked no on ein particular.

'Remember what?' Lillian asked to herself.

The nurse and the police officers exchanged gazes, finally realizing that Lillian seems to not have remembered what happened to her family. Lillian sat up and just like that, flashes came back to her in fragments and pieces.

She sighed, holding her head, which was starting to ache.

"It's weird, I had the worst of nightmares." She murmured to herself but the other heard as she watched them stare at her with melancholic faces.

"You are all scaring me. Did something happen to my family? W-wait. I-is it r-real?" She asked and her hands suddenly started shaking uncontrollably.

The weight of their silence was enough answer for Lillian. She choked back a sob as her lungs constrict and her breath was labored. Her heart beat picked up and in a matter of seconds, all her strength left her. The beeping machine alerted the nurse as she desperately tried to calm Lillian down.

Lillian was trying to detach herself from everything connected to her body when Peter and Will got into action, holding her down gently but firmly. The hand to which her drip was attached to was already bleeding from the strain. The doctor barged in with another nurse, going straight to the struggling patient.

Before Lillian knows it, she felt a little pinch and gradually, she lost consciousness again as the world slowly faded from her sight and her eyes shut.

"I didn't see their face, they were wearing masks." Lillian uttered lowly, not looking away from her palms as tears streamed down her face.

"And was any of their name mentioned by chance?" Peter asked another question.

Clayton

Leo

Brother

"No." Lillian answered.

"Alright miss Scott. Thanks for your time. We have little to no information that could help but we will try our very best to make sure that your parent's murderers are brought to justice. And we are doing all we can to make sure your brother is found." Peter said and Lillian just gave a nod.

Saying their goodbyes, the police officers left the hospital room.

After Lillian had woken up from her induced sleep, the police officers were still waiting. This time, she suppressed having any episode like she did the first time and she succeeded.

One of the police officers, Peter offered her a few comforting sentences and even gave her his contact number.
