PRESENT
Leo pulled the trigger and three different voices let out a scream of agony.
But it was just a threat after-all. Sage exhaled, his heart beating violently.
"Please let my children go." Sage's father finally succumbed, having no hope left after just witnessing Oliver's betrayal.
"You should have thought of your children before doing what you did. We both know killing you a thousands time isn't enough as punishment for what you did.
But who knows, I might grant your request. That depends on your honesty to the question I'm about to ask." Leo paused for a few seconds before he continues.
"What you did isn't something that could be carried out by you alone. So I need names of all orchestrators." Leo finished.
"I've been planning it for years, it's just me." Sage's father replied.
A shot rang out and Sage let out a short but loud scream of pain. Lillian was shocked and without wasting time, she took off her jacket, placing it on her brother's arm as she applied pressure.
The tears blinded her eyes but she kept on muttering prayers. Desperate prayers of help to save them from the current situation they just found themselves in.
"Tyler, Helen and the Maxwell corp. Please leave my children be." Sage's father confessed, adding a plea for his children's safety.
"Hmm. As expected. Just wait a bit, I'll make sure they all join you in hell very soon so you won't feel lonely."
Immediately Leo finished his words, Clayton shot the couple dead and absolute silence followed after. Sage sniffed, disrupting the silence as he looked away from his dead parents.
They might not have been very good or righteous parents, but they are still his parents. Not all the memories he has of them are bad memories, there had been the good times too.
And now they are gone, just like that.
Lillian was in shock as she stared wide eyed at her parents. She couldn't decipher dream from reality. She broke free from her brother and attempted to stand up but one of the guards close to them pushed her back down forcefully, which made her knee hit the ground and her face contorted in pain.
Pain, she could feel pain. That means all that's happening is real. They really shot her parents, Lillian supported herself as all energy left her.
Sage got even more angrier. He leapt up and without thinking, bash the head of the guard into a wall. The guys slumped immediately to the floor and laid there unconscious.
"Grief. How powerful it is. Nothing could fuel an anger the more." Clayton smirked, moving towards Sage, who didn't back down.
Lillian gasped, watching as her brother fight with someone who was clearly not in his age range and who is physically huge than him.
Another gasp escaped her lips as Clayton defeated Sage and kept on beating the life out of him, Sage wasn't even moving anymore, he already lost so much blood, it was Clayton's left hand that was holding him up as his right hand continues with the unrelenting punches.
Lillian ran to them and grabbed the man's hand, which was hard on Sage's neck. She bit with everything she had in her, before she was flung away. She caught herself before she could fall.
The bite made Clayton let go of Sage, who just dropped on the floor without any movement. Lillian rushed to him, searching for any sign, any breath, any movement of life.
There was none.
"Sage! Sage!!" She called his name, receiving no answer.
"Sage! Please wake up. No! Sage please!" She shook him, expecting him to open his eyes but she got disappointed.
She was shaking all over. What's the next course of action? Could she attempt CPR? She doesn't know what to do as she pressed her palm on his chest applying force, attempting CPR the best way she could.
In all her twenty one years of living, she had never hoped for something as much as she hoped for Sage to be alive again at the moment. She stopped after a few minutes.
He was gone.
She hugged his head to herself, and cried bitterly. Her whole body shares in the pain that her aching and shattered heart was going through. She had nothing to live for, everything has been taken away from her in a matter of one night.
She felt a hand on her jaw, which raised her head up and she came face to face with Clayton, who held a gun to her temple.
"Don't worry, I'll make it quick." Clayton said.
She doesn't even resist, she just shut her eyes tight, holding Sage's head firmly. In fact, she was glad that she was going with her family.
Not killing her would be the worst punishment for her as life without her family would be like living in a world with poisonous gas as air, acid as rain, and coals of fire as earth. It would be a world full of pain, more pain and even a lot more pain.
"Stop." The voice filled the room as Clayton's hand halted on the trigger.
