Chapter 4 The morning in the mansion

Laura was bent on using Clara to make more money for her club. Clara is a beautiful girl and most of the men that visit the club are willing to pay any amount just to have her. She set her up so she could use her. She believes Clara's reason for not giving in is that she has never been with a man before. However, a strange man came in and offered her 100,000 dollars for Clara. With eyes glittering like diamonds at the sight of the money, Laura gave Clara out to the strange man without blinking twice and even agreed to him taking her out of the club.

Clara, believing Laura's words that a man had paid to have her resigned to her fate of having a higher bidder coming for her. She knew Laura was all about the money. If the price is good, saying yes is as easy as breaking an egg.

Ragnor who happened to be the stranger that rescued her did not do what Clara expected, but rather gave her a comfortable room to spend the night in. Clara found it strange but was grateful the man didn't sleep with her. She lay in bed unable to sleep as her mind was occupied with thoughts of Ragnor and what he wanted with her. If he didn't bring her, to pleasure himself, then why did he pay such a huge sum of money for her? Clara was in deep thought and did not realize when sleep took over.

A ray of light fell on Clara's face causing her to squint her eyes upon opening them.

"Ahh! What happened, please put off the light" She grunted and turned to hide in the sheets.

"I am sorry ma'am, this light, unfortunately, cannot be turned off. Even if it could, I don't have access to the switch" the butler said calmly and bowed down as a way of greeting.

Reality struck Clara like a lightning bolt upon hearing the butler's voice. She sat up quickly to study her environment. She remembered she was not in her bed. She checked the clock on the table, it was 10 a.m.

"Shit!, I am late for work," She said and jumped out of bed.

She then remembered how she got there last night, she was in a bunny costume. She didn't have any clothes. She stops midway through her step.

The butler raised an eyebrow hearing Clara speak with no manners.

"What is it, ma'am?" The butler asked noticing her uneasiness.

"I ....I....I...I... don't have any clothes here," she stammered.

"You have lots of clothing in that closet. Shall I get one of the maidservants to help you out?" He said pointing to a door.

Clara looked in the direction he was pointing and realized it was the same place she had seen Ragnor enter and brought her the lingerie she was wearing. She stood there for a while and remembered work again. Is her second day and she is this late. She respectfully declines the offer of a maid servant's service and decides to do it herself.

She entered the bathroom. Her face turned into lines. She didn't know how the jacuzzi had been filled the night before. There were so many knobs and she was not sure what controls what. She stared at the bath for a while and took a cup from the cabinet with the hope of filling the bath fetching water from the sink.

"Hey, there is no knob, how does one get the water to flow?" Clara spoke out loud scratching her head.

All that was sitting on the sink was the faucet. Nothing to turn, for the water to flow. Clara stared at the sink. She held the faucet and tried turning it but nothing happened. Clara was now frustrated. She decides not to take her bath anymore in that house, she will do so when she gets to her own home. With that thought in mind, she opened the door and saw there was a woman dressed in the same uniform as the servants who served them dinner when she arrived at the house. She was about to knock on the door. Clara was just looking at her.

"Miss the butler asked me to come and assist you," She said and bowed down respectfully.

Clara breathed a sigh of relief and asked her to enter the bathroom and help.

"How do you turn the tab on," Clara asked embarrassed.

"It's a sensor faucet, ma'am. Once you put your hand under it, the water will flow by itself." She explained, "Let me get the bath ready for you while you brush your teeth." She informed her.

Clara nodded and watched as the maid turned a couple of knobs and the water started flowing. She checked the temperature and adjusted the knob, checking again before allowing the water to fill the bath. Clara watched in bewilderment as the brushing of her teeth slowed down.

" I don't think I can ever operate these things by myself in this house," She thought.

Realizing what she was thinking questioned herself "Why am I thinking of using this bath again? I am not coming back here again anyway," She frowned her brow and finished brushing her teeth.

"Your water is ready ma'am. I will get a dress ready for you," the servant said and bowed down to her before leaving the bathroom.

Clara walked out of the bathroom wrapped in a bathrobe with some water dripping from her hair. The servant helped her dry her hair and styled it. She wrapped it and placed a silver comb with beads into it to hold the wrap. She gave her a sea blue straight dress and helped her put it on. It was a simple dress but had a silver line of diamonds at the hem. She opened the drawer on the dresser table and brought out a jewellery box. She took out a silver earring and a diamond necklace and helped Clara put them on.

Clara looked simple but very beautiful. She felt very uncomfortable with the expensive jewellery she had on. She begged the servant to take them off who refused by informing her she would lose her job if she did.

Clara removed the necklace and gave it back to her letting her know she would keep the earrings on. She followed the maidservants out. While they were exiting the room, two servants entered holding sheets, and items to clean the room. She was led to the dining area by the maidservant where breakfast had already been served.

Clara had forgotten all about work lost in what was happening around her. Is like she was a queen surrounded by many servants, only she doesn't know which kingdom this was. The butler pulled the seat for her to sit. She sat down and looked around for the strange man.

"Where is Ragnor?" Clara asked the butler.

"Ma'am, er..er.. the master left for work early this morning," the butler said recovering quickly.

He did not expect Clara to ask of his master and hence was unprepared. He could not tell her exactly where the master was. Now he just hoped Clara would buy his explanation considering his hesitation.

"Oh," Clara said disappointed.

"He instructed, we take good care of you and do whatever you ask of us," The butler quickly added.

"Oh, okay" Clara replied still disappointed.

She was not sure why but she felt disappointed not seeing him. She was hoping to see his face again. His eyes and the way he looked at her were something she could not forget. Clara ate her breakfast quietly.

She used her hand to pick the bacon and the egg as she didn't know how to use the cutlery on the table. She finished breakfast and got up. The butler walked her to the living room and a glass of fresh juice was brought to her by one of the maidservants.

"Ma'am, what would you like to do?" The butler asked Clara.

Clara was not sure what to say. No one had asked her that question before. It has always been someone ordering her around. She shook her head and then remembered she needed to go to her workplace to explain why she didn't turn up on her second day and also she remembered the 10 dollars they paid her.

"Can you help me get home, please?" She asked the butler respectfully.

The butler nodded and called the chauffeur and instructed him to take Clara to her house. Clara gave her address to the chauffeur. The chauffeur brought the limousine around. It was a white one. He opened the door for Clara to get in and soon they drove out of the huge compound.

Clara decided to look outside the window but could not recognize anything so she resigned and sat quietly in the car. She felt the car stop and the door was opened by the chauffeur.

"Ma'am, we are here?" He said to her when he opened the door.

Clara stepped out of the car and thanked him, before using the back door to her room. The main entrance was closed meaning Laura was not around. Clara was relieved there was no one in the club. She quickly took the expensive dress off, put on her ordinary clothing and removed the bead comb in her hair and the earrings. She put them somewhere safe and decided she would give them back when she saw the man again.

She waited a while and soon Jessica came around and they left for Clara's workplace. On the way, Clara told Jessica everything that happened.
