Chapter 6 Weightless Courage

Chapter 6

He reached his hands to his brief pockets and out came a black card with gold initials. It looked like the type you would see exclusive VIP's make use of when they entered any place that needed connections to pass through. "Here, this is my card, we have a cocktail party coming up..." he stretched out his hands handing her the card with a cold look on his face.

"I'm sorry but I don't think I'd have the time to attend such parties," she replied.

"Hah, of course you wouldn't have the time, what hook up do you have this time around. Is he picking you up or are you going to do it in a motel?" his face full of contempt but his words obviously mocking her as she struggled to keep fit after listening to such hurtful words.

"I will not be seeing anyone as I have a lot of important things doing." she responded indifferent to his invitation

"I'm sure you had already sent me a message concerning a cocktail party and if it is the same, I assure you that I will turn up. However I'm only taking this job for my father, if not, there is no reason for me to stay. I can get another Job" she spat in defiance of him, her courage standing out.

"Only I and I alone can give that job to you, do you think that if you stepped out of my office, you would find any job? In the whole of this city, whatever I say stands and no one dares refute me!" His eyes dark and his figure aloof as he burned her hopes further.

"Do you think I need help from you to survive, what do you take me for?" she defensively lashed out in pain.

"A lying cheat, Shameless pigsty and a gold digger? Money right? Money was the problem, Here, I have enough of it to buy you and your precious king," he snapped as he threw bundles of currencies over her, his eyes devoid of any warmth as his eyes pierced her soul forcing the tears out from her eyes.

"Don't even try to seek pity from me with those fake tears, you won't be finding any." he said, his voice laced with contempt.

Her legs wobbled underneath her struggling to keep her balance. He was harsh to her and beyond all doubt she knew she deserved a bit of it.

The words hurt her beyond belief, her once frosty palms became sweaty.

"Why?" She said her voice barely above a whisper

His eyes stared coldly at her, as a sinister smile by the side of his lips.

"Why not?"

He moved closer, his steps heavy and his height towering over her as he stared daggers at her.

"I don't care if you think I'm fair or unfair. You need to learn your place and know that there's no going back for you. You're here now, working in my company. I have you in the palm of my hands and you won't have anywhere to run to" he implied coldly and aloof with a wicked smile on his lips, he was enjoying her pain.

She lost her balance, her frame so small almost falling to the ground as fresh tears flowed down her face. She realized she had entered his world again, she would suffer again and nothing was going to stop him from making her life a living hell.

She turned her figure away from him attempting to leave as he yanked her back to himself, his gaze menacing like he was about to tear her apart.

The door swung open as the secretary who called her in stepped towards the scene. She quickly wiped her tears as the secretary began inquiring. "Lucas..."

He let her hands go before moving back to his arrest without battling an idea, completely neutral of any facial expression.

She moved swiftly away from the office going back to the elevator from which she came through.

Her heart beating loudly almost bursting her eardrums and she silently broke in tears as the doors closed.

He still affected her, she felt guilty, shame and disgrace all at once.

Her hands flew to her mouth suppressing her loud cries, they came out in a muffled groan as the tears kept falling.

She leaned on the elevator walls for support as she wiped her eyes, clearing all the evidence of her tears.

As the elevator vibrated opening when it got to where she proceeded from. She moved subtly to her office as the intense stares around her increased.

Already the rumors of her going to the CEO's office had spread.

Their doubts were confirmed as she came out from the VIP elevator that only led to the CEO'S office.

"Is it true she's hooking up with the CEO"

"How can you say such a thing? The boss is really strict and he would throw anyone out the second they misbehaved. Look at her face, the dried tears are evidence of that"

"This is what you get, when you throw yourself on people how you like"

She threw in the black card he handed her into her bag.

The murmurs continued but she paid no attention to them instead paid attention on inputting the data she had already started a while before moving to his office.

Her mind kept wandering abruptly stopping her from focusing but she could not dwell on emotions at this point.

She needed the job from the start so she would not let emotions stop her.

She had barely packed her bag completely to head home when the redhead sneered as she moved from behind her.

"I'll still get you one day and I'll make sure you get thrown out of here and that's a promise," she whispered as she leaned in towards her.

This was a threat on a completely new level, but she was already used to this.

There was not any time when she was free from accusations and problems of different levels, that also includes Lucas.

What am I even going to do with this card?

She kept muttering to herself while staring at the black gold stripe card in her bag.

She set off to leave after packing her bag completely. She had a part-time job, so she had better be going.

It was a night job, and that was what made it a little convenient for her while she had this job.

If anyone knew she was working a night part-time job, then this job would be gone. Moreover, she was not even ready to risk that, so she took a different route while moving out of the company gate.
