Chapter 16 Oaths Without Altars

We didn't need a crowd.

It wasn't necessary to make oaths under an altar or in front of a crowd of strangers at church.

All we needed was this.

The way he looked at me made me feel like I was everything.'

The way I pronounced his name as a pledge.

We were aware that love was not a show of hands. It was quiet.
