Chapter 4 Perfect Rhythm

TITLE: PERFECT RHYTHM

It's nice to finally meet with you Mr Brandon Langston, I've heard so much about you." Judge Vilarde said, shaking hands with Brandon as Miranda went to the far end of the office to stand.

"Yeah I must confess, I've heard so much about you and the cases you've won so far. I must commend you."

"Thank you Mr Langston, your compliment means a lot to me and of course your partnership and cooperation."

"Yeah, when coming down here from Turkey, your firm was the first place i had in mind,I searched and your firm popped up as the best in Georgia."

"I'm happy it's going global."

"We have a lot of assignments and things to do legally,I hope you're ready for any task i bring your way." He asked, turning to look at Miranda. She had her fist in a ball, tapping her foot lightly.

"Of course I've got working practitioners under me, we're equal to the task. First of all my assets, the ownership of the company and all my businesses, we'll create something,a document and I have to sign, I really don't know how it goes but I'm sure you know."

He nodded. "Of course i do, it shouldn't be difficult to work on," he replied.

"In the coming days, you'll work with me, I've got a friend who turned to an enemy, we promised to see each other in court so you'll be on my side, I'm i right? Judge Vilarde?"

"Of_of course, you can count on me."

"Good, that'll be all. Miranda show him out."

Some hours later, he sat in the extravagant restaurant awaiting Ariana's presence. She'd always been a very late comer when attending to anything including her graduation in college.

He remembered that day vividly well. "Hurry up or we're gonna be late." He'd said, practically pulling her out of their bedroom and into the car.

"Hello." She greeted, smiling at him as he stood up and pulled out a chair for her.

"Are you always late?" He asked, taking her off guard as she smiled sheepishly.

"No I'm not, I got caught up with something, can we just let it go? We've got more important things to do."

"Exactly Miss Thompson,I work with time and you didn't keep to your time." He voiced out as the waiter placed their meal in front of them. "I'm sorry it won't__"

"Alright so you wanted us to talk and we're here, business right?" He asked, sipping his wine. She picked her wine, her hands shaking slightly. "Yeah business, why did you pick sudden interest in our company?" She asked, her eyes not leaving his.

She took the cup to her lips and took a draw from it. "Why us? I'm sure you have other people in mind so tell me what pulled you towards us."

"Your name or should i say your father's name speaks volume for him and it's really good so I caught up on it and found out you were managing the business now so i had make the move."

"And i must tell you, you made the right move." She replied as they continued their meal. "I should get going,it's already late and father must be at home now."

"Home?" He asked.

"Yeah, I had Josh transfer him to the house, he has a personal nurse." Brandon nodded and stood on his feet.

"I must confess,i enjoyed the evening,we should do this some other time."

"I was thinking you weren't going to say that, of course we should." She replied as he smiled. "That's great, I'll keep you posted. As she got into her car, he waved, watching as she rode out of the driveway.

"Soon, soon enough you'll know you weren't supposed to trust me even for one bit." He whispered.

"Can you knock before walking into my bedroom? I'd really appreciate that." Miranda screamed as Macy shrugged. "Whatever,i need some ice I hit my toe on that stupid couch and it's swollen."

"The kitchen is that way, don't perster me!"

"Thanks and no thanks Miranda." As she walked out of the room, Miranda shook her head wondering why an eighteen years old had an energy of a six year old, so active.

She hurriedly dressed up and walked down the stairs because Macy was so ridiculous and was a sucker for tantrums.

"Macy?Macy?" She called, walking into the kitchen but Macy was no where to be found. Her heartbeat increased as she picked a knife from the cabinet and a rolling stick.

She'd cautioned Brandon and had asked him to employ guards but he was so adamant. "Macy?" She called again, walking out of the house as she saw Macy talking to Brandon. She sighed, rolling her eyes.

"You're out already we were__" Macy stopped talking the moment she saw the weapons in Miranda's hands. "You were gonna use those on me?" She asked, shaking her head.

"No, no you got me all wrong. Hey Brandon."

"Big sister mode,huh?"

"I got scared something terrible had happened to her so__" she shrugged and walked back into the house, cursing herself mentally.

"I'll be upstairs if you need me."

"How was it?" Miranda asked, pouring some wine into two glass cups as she handed one to him. "Did it go well?"

"Yeah, it went as planned and of course she cannot wait for our next meeting. I'll offer to pay for the stolen ships it'll be a nice way to buy her trust and that of her father."

"Have you thought about getting guards? This house is not safe with just the surveillance and the normal patrol guards."

"You worry too much Miranda, you remind me of my mother." She smiled and stood on her feet.

"You should visit her if you miss her, visit her tomb remember tomorrow you have to see Jerald, get some rest."

"Get some rest too, you're losing weight." She giggled, turning on her heels.

"Good night Jason." He shook his head and followed swiftly. She didn't like calling him Brandon she'd always said he was Jason and will remain Jason to her.
