An Unexpected Conversation
Reg couldn't concentrate on his work for the rest of the evening. His mind kept wandering back to Maria and her art. He found himself wondering what had inspired her to create such beautiful drawings.
As the night wore on, Reg decided to take a break and get some fresh air. He walked out onto the balcony, gazing out at the city skyline. The cool night air felt refreshing, and Reg closed his eyes, letting the stress of the day melt away.
Just then, he heard a faint noise behind him. He turned to see Maria standing in the doorway, a look of hesitation on her face.
"I'm sorry to disturb you, Mr. Thompson," Maria said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I was just wondering if I could ask you something."
Reg's eyes narrowed slightly, intrigued. "Of course, Maria. What is it?"
Maria took a deep breath before speaking. "I was wondering if you'd be willing to let me use one of your rooms as a studio. I promise I'll keep it clean and tidy, and I'll make sure it doesn't interfere with my work."
Reg raised an eyebrow, surprised by the request. But as he looked into Maria's eyes, he saw something there that gave him pause. He saw a spark of passion, a sense of longing.
"I'll tell you what, Maria," Reg said, his voice a little softer than usual. "You can use the room next to the library. But I have one condition."
Maria's eyes met Reg's, a look of curiosity on her face. "What's that, Mr. Thompson?"
Reg smiled, feeling a sense of excitement. "I want to see your art. I want to know what inspires you, what drives you to create."
Maria's face lit up with a radiant smile, and Reg felt his heart skip a beat. He knew in that moment that he was in trouble. He was drawn to Maria in ways he couldn't explain, and he had a feeling that their conversation was only just beginning.
