Chapter 3 The proposal

Belle is currently on her way to the kingdom to meet with the Alpha. It has been three days, and she already made her decision. She decided to accept the proposal of the Alpha and that she can save her father's medication. Belle knew that the Alpha is a great help for her ill-fated father.

"I am a bit nervous." Belle uttered as she was already facing the beautiful and wide kingdom of the Silver moon pack. She was hesitant to step on the palace. "You can do it, Belle." She motivates herself and steps inside the kingdom. Belle is already aware of every hallway at the palace.

She experienced at her young age of working to be a maid here so, she won't be lost. Belle's heart pounded too fast again, thinking that she will see the Alpha again. Happiness and nervousness is what she felt immediately that almost made her legs tremble.

After a couple of minutes, Belle was already on the main corridor of the wide palace when she was called by the beta of the Alpha.

"The Alpha was in his office, let me escort you." The handsome beta who was the same age as the Alpha uttered towards her. On the other side, Belle nodded her head responding to him, and she followed the man as he started to walk through the office of the Alpha.

From the middle of Belle's walk, she bumped to someone else again. Belle couldn't help but to feel annoyed towards herself for being so clumsy.

"What the!" A voice of a mad woman echoed in the hallway that made Belle nervous. She remembers what happened the last time when she was almost slapped by the woman which she accidentally bumped at.

"I am deeply sorry, I did not intentionally hit you." Belle tried to apologize, but the woman seemed very annoyed. Despite how scary the woman is, she couldn't help herself but be amazed by how beautiful and sophisticated the woman is.

"Sorry? I won't accept your apology. You just made my day worse." She exclaimed that made Belle open her mouth in shock. It seems like she cannot form her words well to reply to the woman.

"That's enough, Brianna! Leave my kingdom now because I want to avoid seeing your face!" An angry tone of a man echoed in the hallway that made Belle freeze from her direction. It seemed like her heart wanted to come out from her rib cage as she recognized that baritone voice.

It was Stephen, the Alpha, and the reason Belle is here. She slowly turned her head towards the Alpha, and then their gazes met again.

"You gotta be kidding me, Stephen. I cannot accept the fact that you replaced me to someone else that easy!" The woman named Brianna uttered towards Stephen.

"This girl, she was my chosen mate and not you." Belle woke up from her deep thoughts when Alpha Stephen pulled her hand close to him.

"Oh really? Then she must be lucky. Don't worry, Stephen, because time will come, and you will definitely be mine." Brianna uttered and walked away from them. Belle cannot move her legs when she can still feel the man's grip from her hand.

"Are you okay? Did she hurt you?" Stephen asked towards her with his worried reaction. Belle swallowed deep her saliva upon hearing that.

"No, Alpha, I am fine." She replied, her voice shaking.

"Let us talk to my office." The man stated and pulled her hands to somewhere else that the man was referring to. Belle couldn't resist and follow him to where might be their destination. After a couple of minutes, they already reach the office that the Alpha was referring to.

Belle is amazed to see the Alpha's office, and she cannot help herself but to roam her eyes all over the place. This is her first time to enter the Alpha's private place.

"I would like to ask Alpha, what do you want from me?" Belle asked the Alpha to stare at her for a moment before responding to her.

"I was expecting you to read the document." He said that made her face reddened. Yes, Belle just read the document, but she seemed not to understand everything that was written on it.

"Yes, I am, but please enlighten me about it because until now, I still cannot understand it." She said shyly that made the Alpha heave out a deep breath.

"I was searching for a woman through the whole kingdom and it seemed like I didn't like them until one person caught my attention." He utters that made Belle open her mouth in awe. She couldn't help but be nervous about the Alpha's sentence.

"What do you mean Alpha?" He asked towards the man, and the Alpha stood up from sitting on the chair and went near her. He even holds her hair, which makes Belle's hair stand on end.

"I found you and I would like to offer you something that you couldn't resist. I just heard that your father had an illness. My coronation night is coming, and I should present a mate with me." He said that made Belle in shock. It seems like she cannot believe what she heard.

"But why me Alpha? I am just an ordinary girl and obviously, they will attack you when they discover that I was only an ordinary person." Belle murmured that made the Alpha to stare at her.

"Because I like your personality. I like how you work hard for your father and I don't want to entertain other girls because I cannot feel sincerity or honesty from them. I want you, which I should present to my people. So, would you agree with me, Belle?" Belle could feel how her heart beats too quickly after the Alpha just stated those words towards her. It may be hard to believe, but she knew that she was hearing it right.

"Why did you choose me instead of the girl from earlier? She may be worthy to compare me." Belle wanted to believe the Alpha's words, but she needed to ensure it first.

"Don't you want my proposal? This is a great help for you and your father. You must be lucky because I offered that with you personally. Do not worry because when I find my mate, I will let you free." Belle bit the lower part of her lips upon hearing that from the Alpha.

One thing that she noticed, she didn't seem to agree from what she heard that he will let her free after the Alpha found his mate. Belle did not agree to the idea and that confused her.

She heaved out a deep breath and faced the Alpha by staring him deep into her eyes. She was also thinking about her father. Everything that she will do is all because of him. She wanted to give her father his daily maintenance, and the Alpha's proposal would be a great help for her. Even though she doubted to accept the Alpha's proposal because of the unreasonable thing, then everything she will do is for her father.

"Okay, I agree, but I have some conditions as well." Belle stated seriously that made the Alpha to raise his brows towards her.

"I would like to remind you, Alpha, that I do not want to have physical contact with you. Just pretending to be your mate." She said that made the Alpha smile evilly towards her. Belle seemed shocked upon seeing how he smiled at her evilly, like the Alpha is thinking of something.

"I cannot promise you about that because if we need physical contact to prove to them that you really are my mate, I have no choice but to complete it, Belle." He said that made her sigh.

"Okay, I understand." She stated and that made the Alpha of the Silver moon pack to smile and pull something on his drawers.

"Before we begin this, I would like to say something with you, Belle." The Alpha started and went back towards her. Belle seemed shocked when the Alpha was one inch far from her.

"What is it, Alpha?" She asked towards him, but the Alpha held her chin instead, which made Belle to clenched her hand. She was trying to calm her nervous heart.

"If ever you're really my mate, would you agree to stay with me?" He asked her to be shocked for a moment.

Belle did not know of what he should respond towards the Alpha. Therefore, she pushed the Alpha and distanced herself from him out of nervousness.

She knew that she would bear the consequences of accepting the Alpha's proposal in the end and probably faced struggles with it, but she's desperate to give her father daily maintenance. Although she didn't agree with the idea of having an agreement with him, still told her to accept his proposal, and it confused her so much.
