Chapter 8 Kate wants to become the star

Sharon walked into the local restaurant, her glasses glistening, her shoes speaking fire. She didn't want to do too much; she just put on her normal uniform.

It was well-washed and ironed this time around. Her bag was a Gucci-made brown bag that went along with her Versace dark gray shoes. It was her third week of working with Kylie. She had forgotten what it meant to suffer. She quit smoking and drinking ever since she came to Florida, and she tried to look better than she had thought. Customers actually think that Sharon is a personal assistant to Kylie because they respect her more than other employees in the restaurant.

Kylie had employed a lady last week. She was young and beautiful; she looked more like a model, but her hair was off. She disliked Sharon ever since her first day at work. She sooner accused Sharon of influencing the male customers to her own side and reported her to Kylie.

"Hello!" Sharon greeted Kate as she walked past her; she waved instead.

"At least she replied," Sharon thought.

"I hope you are ready to change your attitude this new week," Kate asked.

"Which attitude are you talking about? Do I have any issues with you?" she replied.

"Just change your attitude and stop attracting male customers to your side. Most of them are not even coming for the food anymore; they are coming for you."

"How does that make sense? If it affects you, go outside and call men to yourself. Don't disturb my peace this early morning," she said as she walked off, her shoes sounding so classic.

Kate watched as she waved her tiny braids into the air, feeling the beauty of it. The hair was beautiful; she made it during the weekend at the same salon where she does her own hair. Sharon must have noticed her too, but they chose to mind each other's business. Kate had gone to treat her hair; maybe a miracle would happen anytime soon and she would have perfect hair, matching her perfect beauty.

She hated that someone else had taken the fame before her. She wanted to blame herself for resuming late, yet she wasn't sure if she would have received the fame had she resumed earlier. Kate was determined to make Sharon lose her job within the space of two weeks, and she was walking towards it.

Sharon was also determined to put the young lady in her place, not probably because of what she said about her, but because such people can ruin her friend's industry by gossiping and disrupting the peace of the industry.

"This week is going to be a good week!" Sharon shouted loudly enough for Kate to hear.

She has the habit of saying this week is going to be a good week every Monday, and all she does is collect men's contact details and meet them impromptu, leaving her work unnecessarily, Kate said.

Sharon smiled. "I heard what you said, but it's alright. Work begins."

A woman who had walked in noticed there might be a feud among them. She laughed as she enjoyed the moment for a while before they left for their various tasks.

Kylie walked in, dressed in a sharp suit and dark pants with brown glistening shoes. She was fat, but she looked smart, her beauty matching her robust body.

"Hello!" She greeted the woman seated and waiting for the menu.

"Hi!" "Are they attending to you already?"

"I am still waiting for the menu; I need to see what you have so I can know what to order," she answered.

Kylie walked into the restaurant kitchen hastily; she greeted her two chefs as she took off her suit, changing it for the chef's apron, accompanied by a hat. Kylie signaled to Monti as she noticed her dress and shoes; she was grateful they all had a uniform to wear, both the waiters and the cleaners.

"This woman right here would have been undressing like a party freak," she thought.

She pointed for Monti to take the menu to the woman seated towards the door to avoid her leaving the restaurant in anger. Kate walked in as she greeted Kylie with enthusiasm. Kylie noticed the young lady's dress and was wondering what was taking a toll on her.

She had just resumed the previous week, on a Thursday. She looked good, but it seemed she was competing with the Los Angeles woman.

She nodded her head negatively in disappointment as she noticed the young lady trying so hard to swing her waist, jumping like a frog and being as curious as a chameleon.

"What is happening?" she asked, others shocked.

"Never mind, I've been talking to myself lately," she said.

"Do you mind if I take the menu to the woman?" Kate asked as she walked back towards Kylie curiously.

"Sharon is on it already."

"Can I take the menu to customers today while she just serves the food instead?"

"She had been doing her job before you resumed. You want to take it away from her." She asked.

"Not at all! Since you are the boss, I just felt the need to ask you," she said.

"Well, I might consider that for another day or probably a week. You could meet her if you want her to hand over the menu to you for today."

"Okay!" she said as she stylishly swung her tiny ponytail; it almost went across Kylie's face.

"Be grateful that hair didn't touch my face," Kylie asserted.

"Oh! You wouldn't mind that, would you?"

"Not at all; I might just have to cut off few of your hair bonded into those tiny ponytails with my fingernails. Next time, you should learn not to swing your ponytails at your boss because it might meet her face."

Kate rushed off, feeling embarrassed and disrespected.

"That woman thinks she is the boss. Just wait till I almost ruin your business for you," she whispered.

"What are you thinking of?" Sharon sang as she noticed her weary and wicked facial expressions .

"I hope you aren't at your evil desires again. You can't have your way, not even a little," she said as she smiled and served the woman who had waited for almost fifteen minutes her food.

"At last ,I have been so hungry." The woman said.

"Don't you cook at home." Kate asked.

Sharon shocked ;the woman stared hard at her in amusement,Sharon held Kate hands and ran off to the kitchen's aid warning her not to look back until they get off from there.
