She wasn't married yet. The best thing she could have done was to allow them to live with each other. She knew the reason. She must have heard about what she did in Los Angeles. As far as she was concerned, Kylie was someone who loved to hear the detailed stories of anyone before coming close to them.
She had heard from her mother before she fell sick. She couldn't tell her everything, but she said that's the most important thing to let her know about Kylie, who she follows around. She had been in a bad mood for the whole day until she started work at her restaurant.
People commented on how beautiful she was; she wasn't fat like her daughter. She was when she was younger but grew thinner as she got to her mid-thirties.She was sure it would be the same for Monti; it was a generational thing.
Men who came to enjoy a good meal loved to speak with her; they gave her various tips day by day. Being her third day there, she prayed she would be there for a little while longer.
But,She wasn't really happy about something; people preferred her over Kylie. She wasn't sure of the reason. Of course, Kylie is a beautiful woman who has two kids, but she didn't know who the fathers were. She still dresses like she is in her mid-twenties: elegant and professional. Who wouldn't prefer her instead of a thirty-year-old woman who knows how to do nothing but sing opera on the streets and sleep with men twice her age?
Kylie hated it. She had seen it in her face and noticed her reactions. She remembered her conversation with Mr. Josh and wished she could definitely gain a lot from him. She needed money to look good just like Kylie; it would make her appear less cheap and more elegant.
"What's your name, beautiful?" he asked ,proceeding to shake her hands .
"Sharon." Accepted his hand shake.
"Mine is Josh." He said with a broad light smile.
"That's a lovely name." She commended.
"Not like yours,"he replied.
"Love that."
"I knew you would. You are a lovely woman."
Would you come around often to our restaurant?' she asked winking at him.
"Of course. Even the food can't be compared to your beauty,' he whispered and winked back.
"Wow,' she laughed.
"So for that reason, I would always come. Can you help me clear my table, beautiful? For I am done with my food but not done with you yet!' he said.
"You are so sweet,' she said, staring at his face and shifting her gaze to his left finger where he wore a ring.
'Are you married?' 'Yes, but my wife wants a divorce because she thinks I am promiscuous.'
'Aren't you?' she asked.
'It's because of beautiful ladies like you that we do so. Yours is special because your beauty isn't from this country or state, I guess."
"Yeah! You are right. I came from Los Angeles."
'I guessed so.' He dropped his business card on the table and added a lot of tip. It surprised Sharon ,yet made her happy.
"Call me when ready; you would get a lot more than this,' he said.
"That's so lovely! Eager to meet you, Mr. Handsome.'
"Regards to your chunky boss," he said while they seriously laughed about it.
He was right. Kylie was chunky and always would be.
She wondered if they had ever called Monti that name, knowing fully well that her daughter is fat and people could call her chunky. Her smile quickly faded.
"I haven't called Monti; I promised to call." She proceeded to take her phone and dial her number but suddenly stopped. She is grown now. She knows how to look after herself. While I enjoy myself here in Florida, I love it when the beginning is great; it shows the ending will be better. I love Florida," she said.
She remembered Lumos, her first love. After seven years of their love, the rest of the story wasn't pleasant. He made her do this; he made her a street slut. She wasn't born that way, though. She was a free lady when she was young, slept with two stupid boyfriends before she met Lumos. Throughout her dating years with Lumos, she didn't cheat on him or think about it for once, but once she realized he wasn't ready.
She stood up from the chair after smiling to her own thoughts and past activities. She carried a customer's plate who had just finished eating, took her phone inside her pocket and walked towards the restaurant's kitchen, a broad smile on her face. She seemed so happy that she was working there.
Kylie informed one of her attendants to walk towards her and collect the empty dishes from her hands.
She only had two chefs alongside her, making three with one waiter and one kitchen assistant making five in total.
Kylie had been a good cook from a young age. Sharon thought Kylie had made the perfect decision to become a business owner after receiving a resignation letter from her former boss.
"Hello," Sophia greeted.
"Hi," Sharon replied.
"Bring me those plates," she asked as Sharon immediately gave them to her and walked back to the customers' space.
Kylie stared at Sharon, noticing what she was wearing. She wore her uniform, of course, but she added makeup to her face and arranged her hair well today. She looked beautiful, like she did in her mid-twenties. Jealousy rose in her heart as she saw the shoes she wore; they were designer high heels and were brown in color.
"The tips customers give her are definitely more than I think." She soliloquized. Sharon waved toward her with her teeth widely shown. She took her eyes away, staring at the chef preparing hamburgers. Hers was quite a bit better than the ones she has been making. She remembers Sharon used to make hamburgers every Saturday for her family; her hamburgers were the tastiest during those times. She doesn't think she used to make them again considering the things she used to do in Los Angeles.
"I think I still have a decision to regret," she said.
Sophia approached her.
"Sharon is looking very beautiful today; she has great makeup on," she commented, thinking it would be a nice compliment to make for her boss. Her boss looked very angered, and she walked away.
She thought they were related. The way Sharon bonded with her when she came from her city made her think they might be sisters. She had told her colleague that Kylie wanted to give her sister a big beginning; that was why she brought her.
Kylie looked angry. She doesn't need anyone to inform her that Sharon looks great today, especially when she is wearing an expensive designer shoe, which few people might not know, but she definitely knows various shoe designers.
"Stupid bitch. I don't want gossip in my restaurant; I might have to reassign another kitchen assistant," she said.
She walked towards one of her chefs; her heel broke. She slammed her hands on the kitchen counter in disappointment and anger.
"The stupid bitch can afford a designer shoe while I am thinking about what little I can spend because of my business. How dare she bring competition to this place?" she thought, yet she slammed her hands on the kitchen counter once again.
