Chapter 7 Just Parted, Yet Fate Brings Them Together Again

Alsa stared at Elvis for a long time before suddenly letting out a low, cold laugh.

That laughter was sharp and mocking, her expression flawlessly indifferent.

Yet inside, her heart felt as if it were being torn apart, the pain unbearable.

What a polite way to put it-so now being strong was a fault?

Did being strong automatically make her the cruel and ruthless one, the one who bullied the weak?

Elvis's words, wrapped in cold indifference, were like a sharp blade, mercilessly stabbing into her heart.

"Alsa..."

Seeing her like this, Elvis felt an even deeper guilt. He reached out, wanting to comfort her somehow, but Alsa took two steps back.

"Don't touch me!"

She yelled, forcefully shaking off his hand. Then, she slowly lifted her head.

Her clear, cold eyes were utterly empty. The curve of her lips wasn't a smile-only pure mockery.

Beyond the indifference and sarcasm, there was also utter despair and finality.

Just one look at her, and Elvis felt a violent tremor in his chest, a sharp pain rippling through his entire body.

"Alsa..." He called her name again, but he had no idea what to say.

Alsa gazed at him icily, her voice like frost.

"Elvis, remember this-it's me, Alsa, who doesn't want you! I sincerely hope you and Kyra last forever! Don't you dare try to throw me a bone out of pity-I'm not that pathetic! Hah... who would wipe their face with a towel that's already been used to wipe feet?!"

Elvis was utterly shocked by her harsh words.

The woman he had always known-elegant, well-mannered, and composed-was now saying something so cruel and unfiltered.

Yet, he could understand her anger. He pursed his lips and said softly,

"No matter what... I'm sorry."

"I heard you!" Alsa cut him off without hesitation.

Elvis looked at her. "As long as you can accept it..."

Alsa's face remained emotionless.

"Why should I accept it? You can say 'sorry,' but I have the right not to forgive you! Get out!"

Elvis held her gaze for a long moment.

He knew there was no point in talking anymore. After a brief pause, he simply said, "Take care and rest well," before turning and leaving the room.

Only after Elvis had completely disappeared did Alsa collapse weakly onto the hospital bed.

She curled up, staring blankly out the window at some far-off place.

Cold and strong?

She had once been soft, like water.

But the world was too cold, forcing her to turn herself into ice, to become stronger.

She had no choice but to protect herself, to shield her heart from pain and sorrow.

She had to stop herself from crying, from appearing weak, from looking so pitiful in front of others.

She thought she had gotten used to it over the years.

But now, she realized-she wasn't as strong as she had believed.

Alone in the room, her heart ached.

Her throat tightened.

Her eyes burned.

But this was as far as her weakness would go.

She wouldn't cry.

It wasn't worth it.

It would be pathetic.

Her tears would only fall into the dust-worthless, nothing more than a joke to others.

Then, she sensed someone approaching.

Soon, a clean, white handkerchief appeared in front of her.

Alsa paused for a moment before slowly lifting her gaze.

For a brief second, her soft eyes flickered with surprise.

She released her grip around her legs and stood up from the bed.

She found herself once again standing before the tall, striking man-

Just moments ago, they had parted.

Yet now, fate had brought them together again.
