Chapter 6 Alsa, You Shouldn't Have Become So Cruel!

Vincent remained still, watching Alsa's slender and stubborn figure disappear into the distance.

Then-smack!

The old lady landed a firm slap on his backside!

His tall, lean frame stiffened violently, and the calm, indifferent look in his eyes darkened with a stormy haze.

Vincent had never liked being touched. In his twenty-eight years of life, he never thought he would be spanked-like this!

Behind them, Mary couldn't suppress her laughter, chuckling softly.

"Hurry up and go after her! Do you want to drive me to my grave?"

The old lady paid no mind to his reaction and kept urging him forward.

Vincent lifted his long fingers to his temple, rubbing it with a hint of exasperation.

"Yes, Grandmother!"

By the time Alsa returned to the hospital room alone, Elvis was already there.

He stood by the window, his back facing the door. He was dressed in a high-end gray suit, though the jacket was missing, leaving only a crisp white shirt.

That clean, refined appearance stirred memories of their university days-the gentle young man who used to wear white shirts and carry an air of elegance.

But those days were gone.

The boy she once knew no longer existed.

Alsa didn't even look at him. She walked in with a cold, emotionless demeanor that was almost chilling.

Sensing her arrival, Elvis turned around.

"Where did you go?"

Alsa didn't answer and simply walked past him to sit by the hospital bed.

Elvis spoke again. "I pushed you in the heat of the moment. I'm sorry."

His voice was soft and gentle, as if the man who had just glared at her with anger and hostility had been nothing more than a figment of her imagination.

"What happened wasn't my fault."

No matter what, she had to defend herself.

Elvis lowered his gaze to her. The apology and hesitation in his eyes quickly faded, replaced by a trace of mockery.

"Do you know what Kyra said?"

His stare was intense, pressing down on her like a weight.

Alsa looked up, only to meet his gaze-one filled with disappointment.

"She said she wasn't holding the glass properly, that it was entirely her fault. She was trying to cover for you. And yet, you're still here, trying to shift the blame. Alsa, you shouldn't have become like this."

Alsa stared at him for a long time. The emotions in her eyes shifted from shock to disappointment, then finally to indifference.

She turned to the window, her lips curling into a cold, mocking smile.

A smile as light as mist, yet full of irony.

"Elvis, how long have we known each other?"

Elvis hesitated but eventually answered, "Eight years."

"Heh-"

Alsa laughed.

Eight years.

Eight years, and she had never imagined it would come to this.

His trust in her was so fragile, so easily shattered.

She had no use for a man like this.

Alsa stood up, her gaze cold and detached.

"Elvis, let's break off the engagement."

Her voice was clear and resolute, leaving no room for argument.

Elvis's eyes flickered with shock.

"Why that look? From the moment you chose to save Kyra-or perhaps even earlier-you had already made your decision, hadn't you?"

Elvis remained silent for a long time, his gaze filled with conflict. But in just a moment, that conflict gave way to a sense of relief.

"Alsa, I'm sorry. Maybe separating is the right choice. If we continued like this, I'd only end up hurting you more in order to protect Kyra."

Alsa's hands clenched slightly as she lifted her head, meeting his eyes with an icy stare.

"To protect Kyra? Elvis, does that mean you never once believed me? Not even for a second?"

Elvis hesitated, struggling with his thoughts before finally murmuring,

"Kyra is too pure and delicate... Alsa, you... you're too cold and forceful."
