"I see you got the package first,You think you can hide the truth from Vanessa? You think you can keep me quiet?"
I knew immediately that it was Amanda. She was taunting me, threatening to reveal the secret that I had kept hidden for so long.
I tried to stay calm, to think clearly. But my mind was racing with fear and anxiety.
What was Amanda planning? And how could I stop her? I decided to try and reason with her, to appeal to whatever humanity was left in her.
I texted her back, trying to keep my tone calm and even. "Amanda, please. Don't do this. Think about the consequences." But Amanda just laughed, her response dripping with malice.
"You should have thought about the consequences before you cheated on your wife."
I felt a chill run down my spine as I read her words. Amanda was not going to back down. She was going to keep pushing, keep manipulating, until she got what she wanted. And what she wanted was to destroy me, to destroy my marriage and my relationship with Vanessa.
I knew that I had to act fast, to find a way to stop Amanda before it was too late. But I was running out of time, and I didn't know where to turn. I decided to confide in my best friend, Alex.
I had known alex since college, and he was one of the few people I trusted implicitly.
I called him and asked him to meet me at a coffee shop. As I waited for Alex to arrive, I couldn't help but feel anxious. I knew that I was taking a risk by confiding in him, but I needed someone to talk to.
When Alex arrived, I filled him in on everything that had happened with Amanda.
He listened attentively, his expression growing increasingly concerned.
"Peter, what have you gotten yourself into?" he asked, shaking his head.
"I know, I know," I replied, feeling defeated. "I was stupid and reckless, and now I'm paying the price."
Alex put a hand on my shoulder. "We'll figure something out, Peter. But you need to be honest with Vanessa. You can't keep this secret hidden forever."
I nodded, knowing that he was right. But the thought of telling Vanessa the truth filled me with dread.
As we finished our coffee, Alex's phone rang. He answered it, listening for a moment before turning to me.
"Peter, I have to go. But I'll be back in touch soon.
And Peter?" "Yeah?"
"Be careful. Amanda sounds like a loose cannon."
I nodded, watching as Alex hurried out of the coffee shop. I was left alone with my thoughts, wondering what I had gotten myself into.

Amanda's pov
"Hey Vaasa! "I exclaimed walking into Vanessa's office
"Amy! Girl,i wasn't expecting you, didn't you say you would be out of town?"
"how are you today?" She asked hugging me.
"Very fine, thank you,and yes, change of plans"I replied taking my seat.
"Occupied?I asked as I watch her fold up some files.
"Occupied and drained"she answered rolling her eyes.
"Well, well, well doesn't stop us from having lunch at mcfab does it? I asked eyes gliding with smiles.
"Mcfab! Oh my heavens,I am officially jobless at the moment"she said as we both laughed out hysterically.
"Let me clear my desk we should be on our way soon"she said.
As we walked out of the office, the bright sunlight greeted us, lifting our moods even further.
Vanessa linked her arm through mine, and we strolled to Mcfab, chatting about everything and nothing.
Over lunch, we delved into more serious topics, discussing our careers, relationships, and life.
"So how is it going with you and Peter?" I asked inquisitively.
"Well we had a conversation and I have decided to give Peter the benefit of doubt and just trust him,he isn't cheating,he told me."
I smiled, my eyes gleaming with amusement. "That's very noble of you, Vanessa," i said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"But are you prepared for the possibility that your husband might be lying to you?"
Vanessa's expression turned determined. "I want to believe that Peter is telling the truth," she said. "I want to believe that we can work through our issues and come out stronger on the other side."
I raised an eyebrow then smiled,my eyes glinting with pain. "Well what if Peter has an illegitimate child?"
Vanessa's face went pale, and she looked like she was about to pass out. I reached out and grabbed her hand, her grip tight.
"I'm sorry I know that sounded very insensitive, let's just finish our meal,I am glad you had fixed things with Peter."
we finished our meal and prepared to part ways, I couldn't help but feel sorry for her but that is clearly her cup of tea.
"Thanks for lunch, girl," Vanessa said, as we hugged goodbye. "You're a lifesaver." "Anytime, Vaasa," I replied, smiling. "We're in all of this together, always."
