I successfully jumped down, quickly cutting the rope, I picked up the bag that fell off me when I landed unceremoniously.
I was about to make a run for it when I heard a voice say "Hey you! Stop right there!"...I didn't have the energy for a repeat of what happened inside some minutes ago, so before even thinking I shot him. See how shooting people seems easy for me now, I wish it was the case when I was meant to hit the main target.
Knowing that one of the obstacles to my escape was down, I continued on my way...my lucky star was working because this side of the building happened to be very dark.
Making my way quickly and as quietly as I could, seems that 'quickly' and 'quietly' has been my way today, what a life.
Looking left and right with my breath held, I noticed a few men just in the distance, I had to hurry up.
Changing quickly from the outfit I was wearing to regular jeans and a top, I put the clothes I wore for my failed mission into my bag and made my way out...I held my bag and then continued forward, for someone who was in trouble my steps were confident.
My car was not too far away, all I needed was to walk steadily and not make myself noticed.
"Hey?" Unfortunately, someone spotted me.
"Shit, no...no, I can't be caught".
I turned around to face the guy, he had his whole neck up to his jaw tattooed and he looked like a really mean scary guy.
"What are you doing here?" He asked with an Italian accent".....I quickly changed my accent to a British accent..." umm I was supposed to book this hotel for my stay here in NewYork but I didn't check my phone on time to know this hotel wouldn't be receiving any guests till further notice" I lied through my teeth praying he didn't notice anything while I put my most innocent face.
"Go ahead" I heard him say, I have never been more happier.
I turned around to go and I hadn't even taken more than five steps when I heard him say "Stop"...I think my heart dropped to my stomach.
I turned around to face him, looking up at him...." Be careful of the danger that lurks in the dark" That was all he said to me before turning away from me and walking off. If only he knew the danger was standing right in front of him...I thought to myself.
I did a fast walk to my car and I quickly got in, not wasting any time, I was out of the parking lot and hit the road before you could say, Jack Robinson.
I didn't want to attract the police, so I drove at a speed someone in my condition could drive without getting the police's attention. I didn't want to be pulled over for driving too fast. I didn't have time for that.
I plan to go back to the mansion, the thing is that, this time I won't be walking in like the princess they all saw me to be, I know if my dad gets a hold of me I'll be locked in a room forever...I won't let that happen, not with the way my dad would be feeling and I don't even know if they've found Gabriel. Couldn't risk getting caught.
When I got close to my house, I parked somewhere dark, somewhere a little far from my house where my car wouldn't be noticed. With my head bent lowly I sneaked quickly hiding behind the bushes to conceal me.
I doubt they've returned home, I would know if they were here, I could just feel it...More luck for me.
I jumped the fence because I couldn't pass my house gate, how my life turned overnight. I can't believe I'm sneaking into my own house.
I went behind the side door that leads to the kitchen, that door is close to my father's second office where he has a lot of things stored in a secret room, all I had to do was get into that office.
Picking the lock of the door I stepped inside, making sure no one was in sight I speed walked to my dad's office. I turned the knob and the door was opened, I wasn't surprised it was opened because no one dared to enter his office without being called.
I went in and didn't bother looking around I was a hundred percent sure no one was inside. I made my way to the gold award-looking thing that stood on one of the shelves, I held it and turned it to the left, and the shelf gave way to reveal another door with a lock. I quickly opened it and was greeted by the many wonders inside.
Here my father keeps his gold, money, and expensive items down to most of his important guns.
I opened a bag and immediately started to stuff as many valuables as I could get my hands on. Knowing that I've put enough to keep me going till I know what to do with my life, I carry the bag, move out of the office, and make my way back the same way I came.
I attempted to jump when I heard a low growl... turning around I saw our dog...flash.." Hey Flash, can you be quiet for me and sit down" I told him and he quietly obeyed and sat down.
Looking at him one last time I jumped over the fence and made my way out, still with my head down as I walked back to my car.
I got into my car, put the bag on the passenger seat, and drove away. I had to get to the airport and get out of here as soon as possible.
The drive to the airport was filled with thoughts, like how do you go from being in control of your life to not knowing what your life holds?...I gave a humorless laugh, like what the hell...I can't face my dad, I'm very sure I'm number one on the Italian Mafia list.
It just dawned on me that from now on I'll be on the run because I know the Italian Don would hunt me till he finds me and I know no mercy will be shown to me.
I got to the airport and parked my car somewhere far away, then I walked the remaining way to the airport.
I paid for the VIP section but I had a plan, most of them here knew me and knew I always take a private jet if I wanted to travel.
I was a little worried I might get in trouble for the content in my bag but it seems this kind of thing happens with VIPs.
I got my ticket and made my way to the plane, few people occupied the VIP section.
I made my way to the economy class and walked towards a teenage girl.
"Are you traveling alone?" I asked.
"Why is that any of your business?" She replied.
If it was any other day I would have given her a word or two. Showing her my ticket I said "Well if you're traveling alone you could have my seat"
She took it from my hand and examined it then she jumped up saying " Hell yeah! you could have my seat and enjoy yourself, I'm gonna go"
I took her seat as she made her way towards the VIP section. I couldn't risk being spotted, just in case by any chance someone might have recognized me or know who I am.
With the crowd in the economy class, I wouldn't be spotted easily.
I just couldn't wait for the plane to take off...taking me off to the unknown.
The pilot announced the taking off of the flight. I just let out a sigh of relief, I know this is far from over, but for now, I had to bask in this peace even if it was for a while. At least I know I'm safe for now, when I get off this flight I'll make sure I find the cheapest hotel... nothing luxurious for now because I have to stay hidden.
That is what it will be from now on, hiding and hiding.
Pathetic right?
The whole shooting, jumping, sneaking, and all that was finally telling on me, my eyes were getting heavy but I struggled to keep them open.
I felt like if I closed my eyes when I opened them I'd be in the Italian Don's claws. I kept moving my head from side to side, till my eyes couldn't take it anymore, the tiredness was too much as darkness consumed me.
I heard voices and my eyes snapped open. Just like I feared. I was in a room that looked like a cell.
There were chains on my wrists and ankles. Please he didn't get me that fast, this has to be a nightmare because I know I'm done for if it isn't.
I tried removing the chains but it wasn't working...I heard someone open the cell door and come in, I held my breath as the person walked towards me and bent to my level, he got closer to me while I moved back but he held my chin and prevented me from moving, he brought his face to my ear and I felt his breath on my skin as he whispered: " He's coming for you"..........
