Chapter 4 First kiss(ii)

Jade stepped off the bus, the evening air cool against her skin as she made her way to her small but welcoming home. She fished her key from her purse, the familiar metal cool I'm her palm, and with a gentle turn, she unlocked the door. As she entered, the soft glow of the living r lights greeted he, casting a warm ambiance through the space.

Her eyes fell on the couch, where her sister lay curled up, fast asleep after a long day, the remnants of a movie playing softly in the background. The house, though modest in size, radiates comfort. The walls were adorned with photos of herself and her sister and colorful artwork, each piece telling a story of laughter and love. A few potted plants added life to the corners, their leaves gently swaying with the draft from the slightly opened window.

As she settled into the comforting atmosphere of her home, her mind began to drift back to the moment in the strip club. She couldn't shake the the memories of the man who had kissed her, his lips warm and surprising against hers. It was a moment that felt charged with excitement and a hint of danger, leaving her breathless. She thought about his eyes, how they sparkled with mischief, and the way he moved with confidence. It was a stark contrast to the cozy familiarity of her living room, and she found herself wondering about him- who he was, what his life was like outside of that vibrant, chaotic world. The kiss lingered in her thoughts, a mix of chill and curiosity that made her heart race, even in the comfort of her small home. She couldn't shake the image of him running away right after the kiss. It was like a scene frozen in time- one moment they were locked in that electrifying moment, and the next, he was gone. She remembered the way he looked just before he dashed off; there was a troubled expression on his face that puzzled her. It was as if something has shifted in him. A flicker of fear or uncertainty that made her heart sink. She couldn't help but wonder what had caused that reaction. Did she do something wrong, or was something else haunting him?The unanswered questions swirled in her mind, making it hard to focus on anything else. The thrill of the kiss was overshadowed by the mystery of his sudden departure, leaving her both intrigued and unsettled.

After a while, she decided it was time to clear her mind. She walked to the bathroom, the cool tiles beneath her feet grounding her as she turned on the shower. The sound of the water cascading down the soothing, washing away the remnants of the nights chaos. As she stood under the warm spray, she let the stream envelop her, trying to forget the troubled look on Kael's face and the kiss that had ignited a whirlwind of emotions. Once she finished, she wrapped herself in a soft towel and moved to her bedroom. She picked out her favorite night dress, the fabric light and comfortable against her skin. As she slipped it on, she felt a sense of calm wash over her, a stark contrast to the turmoil of our thoughts. Standing in front of the mirror, she took a deep breath, trying to find solace in the familiar routine, even as her mind continued to wonder back to the man and the unanswered questions that lingered in the air.

Jade stepped into the living room, where her sister was sprawled on the couch, the TV flickering softly in the dim light. She gently shook her shoulder, trying not to startle her.

"Hey, wake up, baby" Jade said softly. "You shouldn't be sleeping out here, it's late" she continued. Her sister stirred, blinking sleepily. "what time is it?" Jasmine, her sister, asked.

"It's past midnight. You need to go to bed. Come on, let's get you settled " Jade replied, offering her hand.

"Ugh, fine" her sister groaned, sitting up and rubbing her eyes with the back of her palm. "I was just watching a show " She said

"I know, but you'll be more comfortable in the room. Plus, it's way too cold out here" Jade encouraged, smiling.

"Alright, alright. You're right" Jasmine conceded, finally getting up. "But you owe me a good morning coffee in the morning!" she said with an adorable look. "Deal" Jade laughed, guiding her towards the bedroom. "Now let's get you to bed " Jade said.

"How was work?" Jasmine asked on her way to the room they share. "Same old, same old" Jade replied, she didn't want to tell her sister what had happened at the strip club, she didn't want to tell her about the deep, lustful kiss she shared with Kael. She didn't want to tell her she has been thinking about a total stranger.

"How long are you going to work in that rattrap?" Jasmine asked

"Jasmine, you know we need the money to survive. I know the job sucks, but its the only source of income we have" Jade said as she sat on the bed with Jasmine.

"But I'm working now. I can support us too. You don't have to work there anymore" Jasmine said, her tone carried concern.

"your pay check isn't enough to pay electricity, rent, it isn't enough to afford clothes, food and water and a lot of things." Jade explained

"I know you don't like the nature of my job, baby, but neither do I. We just have to do what we can to survive." Jade continued

"what about Devan" Jasmine asked

"Devan is already paying for my therapy, we can't ask him for too much. We can't keep relying on him ." Jade tried to make her sister understand

"Go to bed, baby. We'll talk in the morning " Jade said.

Kael's POV

I've been aggregated since I found out my mate is a human, and not just any human but a stripper. I didn't know what to do, i didn't know what step to take. I needed to talk to someone, but who? No one knows about the werewolf part of me, not even Orion. I needed to speak to someone who could relate.
