Chapter 5 The Party

Samantha's POV

"Liam!!" I call out his name in a surge of anger and hurt, how could he do this to me?

"Sam? What are you doing back here?" He turns around with no care in the world like I didn't just catch him about to kiss Kira

"I...I forgot my purse" I raise the purse in my hand, "What were you doing?" I raise a brow in his direction

"Not that it's any of your business, but you should be heading to the party now, they can't start without a Vasquez being there," he says with a cold and stern voice

"Yeah Sam, a Vasquez has to be there," Kira says in a mocking tone turning to Liam, "Why don't you help me get settled in, it's been such a long time since I was back here" she smiles pulling him along and leaving me alone in the living room, contemplating my jealousy and my thoughts

I heave a sigh heading back outside and back to the party.

The party is in full swing when I get here, the auction is yet to start. Liam's mom sends me a look of annoyance when I arrive but she attends to her friends ignoring me.

I lean by the bar, downing a glass of wine when the air becomes charged with excitement.

My eyes spot Liam at the entrance, his body in a black tuxedo that makes him stand out, he waves to people, greeting them as he passes by, his chiseled face in a smile with Kira hanging from his side

Jealousy fills me as they move through the crowd, Kira's hips swinging, a red dress wrapping her features, black long hair in a ponytail as they sashay through the crowd.

I can't believe he would do this, show up to the party with her in his arms like she is married to him, like the ultimate couple.

I swallow the lump in my throat, annoyance and anger driving me as I gulp down the last of my drink.

Eyes turn to me, gossip and rumors filling the air as they all turn to me with pity-filled glances.

I fold my hands into fists by side in anger, I have to confront this madness.

"Let's settle down, the auction is about to begin" I hear a voice call from the stage causing everyone to find their seats.

I sigh walking down from the bar to the front where Liam and I would sit along with the rest of the family.

"Were you drinking?" Liam narrows his eyes at me As I make an appearance

"It was just a glass," I say softly.

"Let her be Liam, you can never really teach a pauper how to act like a queen, no matter the position you put her in," she says with a mocking tone, turning to Liam's mother as they share a round of laughter

"Sit" Liam instructs pointing to the chair opposite him, ignoring her jabs at me.

I frown, my eyes landing on the seat next to him already taken over by Kira, she sends me a coy smile, with a knowing look.

I frown taking a seat opposite the two as I watch their interaction

Throughout the entire night, they laugh and discuss the auction starting off fine.

"And finally the last item for the auction of tonight, The Vasquez family gemstone" the speaker reveals the emerald necklace

My eyes meets with Liam, I had begged him to get it for me when we started the planning and he promised he would do so.

"Liam that's the neckpiece I was talking about, I want it" Kira pouts turning to him, her voice changing into a soft and sultry one

"What no!! I want it, I asked for it first" I turn to Liam a worried look on my face.
