Chapter 2 2

The moon was full as Leyale walked home, her feet carrying her on autopilot through the familiar streets of Ravenswood. The town was quiet at night, the only sound being the distant hum of crickets and the occasional passing car. The streetlights cast long shadows across the sidewalk, making the town seem eerie and deserted.

Leyale shivered, despite the warmth of the summer evening. She quickened her pace, her eyes scanning the streets for a taxi.As she walked, she hailed several taxis, but they all drove by, already occupied or not noticing her. Layale sighed, frustration growing inside her. She continued walking, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.

The town seemed to stretch on forever, the darkness seeming to swallow everything in its path. Layale felt a shiver run down her spine, and she quickened her pace once more.As she turned a corner, she spotted a taxi driving down the street. She hailed it, waving her arms wildly, but it drove by, ignoring her.

"Thanks very much asshole" she muttered pulling her jacket closer and continued walking home. Layale was about to give up on finding a taxi, a strong, chilling wind blew down the street, rustling her hair and sending shivers down her spine. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to warm up as the wind whipped her hair into a frenzy.

Layale shivered, her eyes scanning the deserted streets for any sign of life. The wind howled through the buildings, making it sound like a pack of wolves was closing in on her. She quickened her pace, her heart racing with every step.

As Layale walked home, the town seemed to grow quieter and more deserted. The stores were all closed, their metal shutters pulled down like armor plating. The homes were dark, their windows like empty eyes staring back at her. The occasional pedestrian hurried past, their faces illuminated only by the faint glow of streetlights.

Layale turned down into her block, the silence seeming to press in around her. She walked quickly, her eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. As she passed by an alleyway, she heard a low, menacing growl. It was a sound that sent shivers down her spine and made her heart skip a beat looking into the alleyway she saw a pair of shining golden eyes soon she heard another growl.

She screamed and began running, her feet pounding the pavement. She didn't dare look back, fearing what she might see. But as she ran, the growling stopped. The sudden silence was almost more terrifying than the sound itself.

As she slowed to a Layale she leaned against a building struggling to catch her breath, she thought to herself, "What the fuck was that?" She shook her head, trying to clear the fear from her mind. "I need to hurry and get the fuck home," she muttered to herself. She began walking again, her heart still racing from the sudden scare.

But before she could take more than a few steps, she heard a woman screaming from within the alley a few feet Infront of her. The scream sent chills down Layale's spine, and she froze, her eyes fixed on the alley.

Soon a young girl, dressed in skimpy clothing, came running out of the alley, her hands covering her bleeding neck. She was screaming for help, her eyes wild with fear. When she spotted Layale, she ran towards her, crying out for help. As the girl ran towards her she could see the terror in her eyes.

The girl was stumbling, and Layale reached out to catch her, just as she was about to fall. "What's going on?" Layale asked, trying to keep her voice calm. But the girl was hysterical, her words tumbling out in a frantic jumble. "They're coming... we have to run... please, we have to get out of here!".

She tried to calm the girl down, holding her by the shoulders. "Calm down, who's coming?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. But the girl just shook her head, her eyes wide with fear. "There's no time... we need to run, they're going to kill me" she whispered desperately.

Before Layale could respond, a low, menacing chuckle echoed through the air. "Oh, I don't think you're going anywhere," a man's voice said, dripping with sarcasm. Layale's heart sank as two men emerged from the shadows. They were identical twins, their bald heads gleaming in the faint light. They were tall and muscular, their eyes gleaming with a sinister intensity as they smirked at the pair.

The girl's grip on Layale's arm tightened, her nails digging into Layale's skin. "It's them we have to get out of here ," she whispered again, her voice trembling with fear.

Layale instinctively pulled the girl behind her, protectively shielding her from the twins. The girl clutched at Layale's back, her fingers digging deep into the fabric of her jacket as she clutched unto her tightly sobbing ."Leave us alone," Layale warned, trying to keep her voice steady. "I mean it." One of the twins laughed, a cold, mirthless sound that sent shivers down her spine.

"We're just having a little fun," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Besides, we paid for that... Hooker ," he sneered, nodding towards the girl. "We're going to get our money's worth." Layale's eyes narrowed. "I don't care what you paid for. Leave us alone, or I'll call the police."

The twins smiled, their faces stretching into identical, sinister grins. And then, to Layale's horror, their eyes turned red, glowing like embers in the dark. Fangs gleamed in the faint light, and Layale's heart sank as she realised what was happening and the mess she had found herself in.

Oh, I'd like to see you try,".
