"I mean, if... If he's just a human, why kill him." I stuttered, seeing the fury in Elder Fecklon's eyes.
"We have to kill him, because he's distracting you from finding the Senior Elder." He replied.
"But just like you said. If I'm sired to the Senior Elder, and yet, I can't sense him. Doesn't that mean he is purposely hiding? An... and maybe, using Nicholas?"
"That's why he needs to die."
"But if he dies, the Senior Elder would know that we're on to him. And that would just make him go more into hiding. Or he could just find someone else to replace Nicholas if he dies." I explained to a room full of Elders. Even though I don't even understand what I'm saying.
Everywhere went silent, as Elder Kamal, the Alpha of Kiland burst into laughter, followed by the rest of the council.
"She's a really funny girl. She'd do anything to protect that human boy, even challenging Fecklon. But she's right. If that human boy is just a tool for the Senior Elder, we can use him, rather than kill him." He affirmed
"Call him, now!" Elder Fecklon ordered as I immediately called Nicholas, inviting him out for dinner, where I plan to make him drink a lot of wolfsbane.
I got to the venue thirty minutes earlier than agreed and he arrived ten minutes later.
"You're early." He said taking his sit adjacent to me. "Excited?"
"Yeah"
"The place is nice. And calm." He complimented.
"Thanks. I haven't seen you for so long and so I want to spend as much time with you as possible." I lied. Actually that's not a lie. I just left out the part where I'm about to drown him with some werewolf weakness drink.
"What's that in the bottle?" He asked sighting the bottle of wolfsbane.
"Oh, it's an energy drink." I replied. The irony in that.
I gulped hard before the other lines followed. "I want you to have it. I brought it for you. It's Chinese chi tea." I lied. "It boosts energy." Actually, it drains energy. But either way, it deals with energy.
It would help you be strong and fit. Would you drink it." I urged, handing the bottle over to him.
My heart was racing so fast it could fall off my chest as I watched him take a sip of the wolfsbane, savouring it's taste like a wine before swallowing.
"It's bitter." He said, with no expression of pain whatsoever. Does that mean he's not a werewolf? I wanted to put the bottle aside but caught Elder Fecklon's glare and so I insisted that Nicholas drinks more.
He already proved to me that he is a human. But since the Elders wanted more, I persuaded Nicholas to drink more.
"Come on, drink more. You just took a sip. That doesn't count." I insisted.
"I don't like it, it's bitter." He said.
"It's chi tea Nicholas, it's not supposed to be sweet come on, drink it. For meee?" I kept insisting.
He seemed weird and hesitant about drinking it even though I was giving him the puppy look.
"You won't even do it for me?" I asked but he still wasn't drinking it. Now I'm uneasy. What's wrong with him? Is this really because it's bitter, or are my fears true? Let's give it another try.
"What if, this entire bottle of chi tea is all the love in the world, can you consume how much you have for me?" I asked, trying to make him drink.
"But love is sweet. This is bitter." He said also standing his ground.
"No dear, love is bittersweet." I replied. "Come on Nicholas." Just drink the damn wolfsbane and prove everyone wrong.
"Fine, I'll show you how much love I have for you." He said picking up the bottle. It was a 60cl bottle filled with wolfsbane, and once, he drank the entire content of the bottle.
"I have all the love in the world for you." He replied smiling. He's not in pain, he's not a werewolf. My joy knew no bound looking at his goofy smile right now.
"Ouch!!" He suddenly screamed in pain with his head down, totally draining my joy. Is he in pain? From the wolfsbane? A werewolf can't consume that much wolfsbane except... Is he really the Senior Elder?
I moved backward as the werewolves got ready to attack. Then he put up his head again, still with that goofy smile.
"I hit my toe on the table. Ouch! That hurts." He said smiling. "But that tea was really bitter though, I need to watch my mouth."
"Oh! okay. Let's go home then." I said trying to get him away from these hungry werewolves and their Alphas ready to pounce on him.
"Go home? We haven't even ordered yet."
"Oh! That's right. We came here to eat. I almost forgot." Of course I did. I was too focused on feeding my innocent boyfriend wolfsbane.
"Where did you say you got that drink from again?" He asked jolting me back to reality
"Ummm... a friend of mine gave it to me. It's been helping me a lot, especially during my morning runs and so I wanted you to have it too." I stuttered almost caught in my lie
"Then why did you make me drink all of it at once?" He asked getting suspicious.
"I didn't make you drink all of it. You drank it all to prove that you have all the love for me." I teased smiling. But seriously, we should drop this topic.
"That's right, I do have all the love in the world for you. Don't ever forget that. Anyways, I need to go watch my mouth, it's really bitter." He said leaving for the rest room.
I guess he hit his toe really hard on that table, because he was walking funny. But still, I'm so happy. I'm really happy that Nicholas is just a human being and nothing more.
Or maybe he is a human being that spends over thirty minutes in the rest room. "What's taking him so long?" I muttered to myself. But still, I'm really happy.
I kept staring at the direction of the bathroom, smiling like a fool until finally, Nicholas returned and we had our meal in peace, finally proving to all the Elders of Azevitet that Nicholas Bryant is just a beautifully created human being.
