Chapter 4 Kidnapped

IRIS GALLAGHER'S POV

I felt my eyelids twitch as my consciousness slowly came back. Then a headache followed suit and it hurt badly.

I finally opened my eyes after fully regaining my senses back and I saw I was in a bedroom.

It was a very beautiful and large bedroom. Way prettier and bigger than mine back at home and that was the problem.

This was obviously not my room, my hands were also bound tightly with a rope and my whole body ached.

My heart began to race faster as fear filled me up and I tried to remember everything that happened before I lost consciousness. Then one face came to mind.

Eric Kaladdin! The man who claimed to be interested in me but only ended up having me kidnapped by him!

How stupid could I be to agree to go on a date with a stranger? I should have known his face was a warning to stay away from him because no one could be that good looking with good intentions but here I was, kidnapped and tied up in an unknown room because I ignored the alarms that were going off in my head.

I groaned as I struggled to sit up on the bed where I'd found myself and I winced when the headache hurt even more. Then I slowly looked around the room and my eyes lit up when I saw a window.

Quickly, I sprang off the bed to my feet. Ignoring that my hands were tied, I rushed to the window and pushed it open, hoping I'd be able to escape but that hope was dashed away when I saw how high up the window was.

If I jumped out, I was going to die immediately and it would make my attempt to escape useless. I didn't want to die yet so I figured it was best to stay still and wait for someone to come over because who knew, maybe they'd let me out.

With a weakened soul that was slowly filling up with dread, I dragged my feet back to the bed and sat down then I palmed my face and my eyes began to sting as the tears came.

What was I thinking? Why did I follow him? Why did I think he was safe to be around? Now I was kidnapped with no means of escape and maybe he was eventually going to kill me.

I began to sob as scary scenarios filled my head and gory images flashed before my eyes.

Mum and dad were going to be devastated if they heard I'd gone missing.

They weren't my real parents but they loved me so much. They'd always been there for me and I for them so I couldn't imagine how shattered they would feel to hear I was missing or worse, killed.

I wished I'd listen to the tiny voice in my head telling me to ignore Eric Kaladdin and head home but now, it was too late to be regretful. I was stuck in this mess now and the only way out was if he let me go.

The door suddenly opened at that moment while I sobbed hard and I snapped my head up to see Eric standing by the doorway and staring at me.

I blinked twice to be sure it was him. Then I sniffed and wiped my tears and all he still did was stare at me without uttering a word.

"You're awake" he muttered and rage took over me. All I saw was red as I glared at him and I wished I could hit him as much as I wanted just to let him know how angry I was.

"You! You kidnapped me, you bastard" I cursed at him and he sighed before closing the door and walking toward me.

Then he sat beside me on the bed and looked at me.

"I didn't want to do this, Iris, but I had no choice. I did this for a reason... for you and me and I hope that with time you'd understand me" he said to me, his brows creasing together as he spoke and my jaw dropped.

Was he really telling me he wasn't letting me go anytime soon and was even asking me to understand why he kidnapped me without an actual reason? How could he have such audacity in the first place?

"Are you out of your mind? How dare you ask me to understand your reason for kidnapping me without even telling me the reason? Why on earth would you even kidnap me in the first place?"

I gritted my teeth as I vibrated with so much anger in me and he inched even closer but I scooted away because now, he scared me and I didn't want him anywhere near me.

"Don't you dare come any closer to me or I'll hit you if you do" I warned and he looked resigned when he looked at me. Then he came closer, ignoring my warning and I lost it.

I slapped him hard across the face just as he wanted to speak about something that I couldn't care more or less about but he didn't look like it hurt.

So I slapped him again and just as I raised my hands to slap him once again, he caught both of my hands with one hand and glared at me.

"Stop hitting me and listen to me, Iris," he breathed harshly and I aggressively pulled my hands out of his before pushing him and screaming in his face.

"No, you should listen to me, you messed up asshole. You kidnapped me against my will so don't expect me to stay calm and listen to your bullshit. Also, your eyes turned golden right before you knocked me out and that is another reason why I wouldn't trust a single word you say because I don't even know what you are"

"You are here for a reason. So if you would only calm down and let me talk, you'll understand everything and know your purpose here" he replied but I still wasn't having it. All I wanted was to go home.

So I didn't say a word to him as I kept eye contact and stood up. I walked over to the window while all he did was remain seated and watched me.

Then I pushed the window open before I turned back to look at him, determination in my eyes so he wouldn't think I was joking about what I was about to do.

"Let me out of this room this instant or I'll jump out through the window" I threatened him and he scoffed.

"You can't do it Iris. Just sit and let me talk, okay?" He belittled me and that pissed me off so I became even more determined to show him that I wasn't staying in this room with him just because he claimed I had a purpose.

"You keep claiming that I have a purpose but I really don't give a flying fig about whatever that purpose may be, Eric.

I'm also not staying here after getting kidnapped by you so if I have to die just to get out of here, I'll die but you should know that my death would be upon you"

I told him and he still kept a blank stare, thinking that I wouldn't see my threat through. So I walked closer to the window and turned my back toward it. Then I said a quick prayer and closed my eyes before I fell back through the window.

I instantly began to regret my decision as I fell.

I could feel the wind gushing through my hair with full force and I wondered why I didn't think it through before falling just to prove a point to a man who probably wanted me dead.

I was desperate to go home so I was willing to do anything to save myself but now, I began to doubt if I even saw his eyes turn golden before I lost consciousness because what if I didn't?

Was he going to save me or not? Did he even have any special powers as I suspected? But if he was being truthful about me having a purpose, he was going to save me... right?

I didn't want to lose my life for nothing. So I desperately hoped help would come as I fell and reluctantly, I opened my eyes to see if Eric was coming for me but my heart stopped once I saw who was swooping down toward me at great speed?

She was a woman but she had wings large enough to wrap themselves around me completely and I didn't know when I began to scream out of pure terror.

She caught up with me just as I was about to make impact with the ground and she pulled me into her arms before pressing her forehead against mine while I lost my mind.

"You're fine, Iris. You're safe" she said to me calmly after landing us both on our feet and making her wings disappear but I wasn't anywhere close to feeling calm.

I just saw a woman grow wings and fly toward me to save me and I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to be in my right state of mind again.

The shock became too much to bear and I felt my legs weaken. Then everything in my body switched off while I tried to find my voice and next thing I knew, I was falling to the ground.

The last thing I heard was Eric calling for me before darkness enveloped me.
