Candy ordered dinner when they arrived at Alicia's place and searched for a good k drama whole food was on its way. Both of them loved watching k dramas. They finally decided what to watch and the food arrived shortly. They had dinner while watching TV drooling over the male lead.
The following morning Alicia got up and got ready for work while Candy sat there drinking coffee. She wasn't sure what she was going to do but she knew she had to find a job. She was going to prove to her father that she was capable of surviving on her own without his help. After Alicia left Candy took a shower and decided to see an old friend who owed her a favour. She called him to arranged meeting him.
He had a meeting close to where Alicia lived so he agreed to spare a few minutes after it was done. They were meeting at Creamy Crust Café a hip Café close by. Candice headed to meet Adam Baldwin. When she got there he was already seated there waiting for her.
"Hey Adam sorry to keep you waiting." She said and she took a seat opposite him.
"Hey Candy." He said. "I just got here myself infact I haven't orded anything." He smiled devilishly and said. "So what's this huge you need from me?"
Candice smiled nervously not sure where to start.
"Well, I kinda need a job. A situation came up and I urgently need a job."
"Daddy threw you out?" He asked jokingly.
"Kind of. You know what they say. Every bird has to learn to fly." Candy said. "I had to leave the nest sooner or later."
"Well you're in luck. The company I work for is looking for an admin person. That's if you're willing to start at the bottom." Adam said looking at her in a way that told her he didn't think she's up to it.
"I'll give it try." She said confidently.
"Are you sure? You'll be running errands for everybody and you won't even have an office." Adam reminded her.
"I know Adam! Geez." Candy rolled her eyes. "I can do this trust me."
"Okay then. Email your resume and I'll put in a good word for you." He said unconvinced at all that Candy is really up for this. They had coffee and chatted a while before Adam headed back to work. Candice went back to Alicia's place and took out her laptop to update her resume so she can send it to Adam.
Adam got to the office and went straight to see his boss Martin LaRue. He wanted to ask this favour for Candice since she's always helped him out when he was in a tight corner. He knocked on Martin's office door and he told him to come in.
Adam went inside and Martin could see he was nervous. He motioned for him to take a seat and he intertwined fingers and stared at Adam.
"Mr LaRue I think I may have found someone to help with the admin and stuff." He said not looking at Martin's face.
"Isn't that the HRs responsibility?" Martin asked with his eyebrows raised.
"Well I thought I'd help out." Adam replied shyly.
"Who are you helping Adam?" Martin asked cooly.
"The company of course." He said and added. "And my friend also." He was avoiding eye contact with Martin at all costs.
"And who is this friend actually?" Martin asked crossing his arms over his chest staring at Adam.
"It's someone I went to college with. Her name is Candice Lawson." Adam replied finally looking at Martin. Martin raised his eyebrows. He thought he heard Adam wrong.
"Did you say Candice Lawson?" He asked.
"Yes sir. She's a lovely young woman. I'll-
"It's fine. We'll give her a chance but if it's not working out we'll she's out of here." Martin said and turned his attention back to his computer. That was Adam's cue to leave. He got up quickly and couldn't wait to tell Candy the good news. He was a bit intimidated by his boss. Mr LaRue wasn't someone to joke around especially when it came to his company. Him asking this favor from Mr LaRue meant Candice owed him a lot.
As soon as Adam left his office Martin's mind was flooded with questions. Candice Lawson is the girl who was supposed to be engaged to him but refused, thank God. Why was she looking for a job at his company now? Was she there to spy on him? She could have done that if she had agreed to engagement?? Or not?
Martin had never met the girl but as Stephen's only child he could imagine what a spoilt little brat she must be. What ever reason she had coming to company he had to keep an eye on her and maybe he could find out why she turned down the proposal. Not that he wanted to marry her. She actually did him a huge favor. He had to admit though he was very curious about a lot of things regarding Candice Lawson.
He was also curious about her relationship with Adam Baldwin. Adam is smooth talker especially when it comes to the ladies. Martin is not really that interested in his employees personal lives but he had seen how Adam operates. He's good at what he does work wise but he seemed to have a keen eye for the ladies. Was Candice perhaps one of his victims? Is that why she turned down the proposal? Martin found himself unable to concentrate on his work. What ever was happening he knew he had to get answers and the only way for that to happen he had to allow Candice to work for him.
