Chapter 6 Not A Nouveau Riche

Charlee had underestimated Stacey's and Keith's pettiness. When she attempted to drive away, security halted her vehicle, asserting it was property of the Sullivan Group.

Now acting as director of the pharmaceutical company, Charlee had lost her privilege to use this car since the company's split from the Sullivan Group.

Exiting her sports car, she slipped on her sunglasses and glanced toward her office building.

Despite the distance, she could distinctly make out Stacey on the floor of her office, gracefully enjoying a cup of coffee.

In a daring move, Charlee gave Stacey the finger, then turned on her heel and walked off with her belongings to hail a nearby taxi.

As she waited, a sleek black Maybach rolled to a stop before her. The door swung open automatically, revealing a man lounging comfortably, an amused expression playing across his refined features.

"What a coincidence."

His look had completely changed. Gone was the casual style, replaced by a sleek light gray suit that reflected his wealth and status.

His outfit, right down to the watch peeking from beneath his cuff, radiated luxury.

Charlee realized she had completely misjudged this man.

After a brief pause, she slid into the car, the door shutting smoothly behind her.

With the partition up, the space inside the business car felt intimate, his presence undeniable, his subtle, crisp scent reminiscent of an exquisite yet frosty winter bloom.

Memories of their passionate encounter the previous evening flooded her mind, causing a blush to spread across her pale cheeks.

"You looked into me," she said.

It wasn't a question but a statement of fact.

She had left her details at the hotel check-in, and given the recent public scandal at the engagement party, it was no shock that he had tracked her down.

Turning to face him, her gaze was fierce and determined.

She continued, "From the way you're dressed, it's clear you're not short on money. Yesterday, I assumed you might need help and took advantage of the car repair fee. But it turns out you were fine. We're even now. After last night, neither of us owes the other anything. If you keep pushing, I'll call the police."

He gave a faint smile, his voice calm, deep, and unhurried.

"Need a ride? Where to?"

Arguing with him felt like talking to a brick wall, which left Charlee nearly at a loss for words, feeling as if she were the one harboring sinister thoughts.

Persisting would only make it seem as though she cared too much.

"Green Biopharmaceuticals in the eastern suburbs."

After sharing the destination, she fell silent and turned to gaze out the window.

As the car turned a corner, the tall office building of the Sullivan Group receded into the distance.

She knew she would return soon.

Nothing would rob her of what her mother had tirelessly worked for.

"Would you like to be my sex partner?"

His voice, deep and somewhat playful yet enticing, broke the silence.

Startled back to the present, she crossed her arms and gave him a cold look.

His gaze locked with hers as he casually said, "You were impressive last night. Let's discuss your conditions."

Charlee had always lived a carefree life.

Her parents had showered her with love and money, and Liam had always been there to spoil and protect her.

Despite the irreversible changes, she had never envisioned being in a position where someone would suggest keeping her.

In a rage, she had stormed into the hotel last night, keeping the room lights dimmed.

Initially, she was driven by a fierce urge to tear everything apart.

But he took the lead, masterfully guiding her through it all. Now, looking at him, she saw not just his attractiveness and strong physique but also a certain noble bearing that seemed inherent.

This wasn't something that could be faked by the newly wealthy.

"Who are you, really?"

"Is that what you want to know?"

His slightly elevated tone could set one's heart racing.

"I am..."
