Chapter 6 The Waterfall

Sophia's heart was racing as they approached the waterfall. She knew that they couldn't turn back now - the guardians were too close. "What do we do?" Sophia shouted to Marcus. Marcus's face was set in a determined expression. "We go over!" he yelled back. Sophia's eyes widened in horror. "Are you crazy?" she screamed. But Marcus just grinned. "Trust me!" he shouted. And with that, they plunged over the edge of the waterfall. The rush of water was intense, pounding against Sophia's skin like a thousand tiny hammers.

She felt weightless, suspended in mid-air as they plummeted towards the pool below. Time seemed to slow down as they fell. Sophia saw Marcus's face, set in a fierce grin. She saw the waterfall, a towering wall of water that seemed to stretch up to the sky. And then, they hit the water. The impact was tremendous, sending Sophia tumbling through the water like a rag doll. She felt disoriented, unsure of which way was up. But as she struggled to the surface, Sophia saw Marcus's face, smiling at her from across the pool. "We made it!" he shouted, swimming towards her. Sophia grinned, feeling a rush of exhilaration. They had escaped the guardians, and made it over the waterfall. But as they swam to the edge of the pool, Sophia saw something that made her heart sink. The guardians were standing on the riverbank, their eyes fixed on Sophia and Marcus. They had followed them over the waterfall. And now, they were trapped.
