Chapter 5 FIVE

"You are indeed very ambitious to destroy Carlos's life! I hope you are really consistent in doing so because from now on, you will face Carlos with me. There will be many consequences faced together." Valdés was very serious and very intimidating.

"As for the marriage, I will prepare it for you," Valdés said in a flat tone. Mora wanted to open her mouth in response to Valdés' words but was stopped by a knock on the door.

Gabriel, Valdés' secretary, reappeared with a panicked face. "Sir, your mother's health has declined again. The Doctor has requested an immediate visit," Gabriel said, causing Valdés to jerk his body and grab his suit.

"Follow me!" Valdés pulled Mora's wrist.

Mora was forced to follow Valdés. Along the way, Valdés was silent without making a sound; Mora was also quiet, confused about what to do in front of Valdés' mother.

"Mr. Theodrov is lucky to be here soon," the Doctor said.

"What happened to my mother?"

"Mrs. Olivia was having trouble breathing, but everything is fine again," said the Doctor, patting Valdés on the shoulder.

Valdés opened the door to the room where his mother was being treated. He slightly turned his head towards Mora, who was standing in front of the door. "Come in!" Valdés ordered, pulling Mora's wrist again.

"Mom," Valdés called, gently touching the surface of his mother's hand and kissing it.

"Valdés, are you coming?" Olivia opened the device to assist her breathing. "Who is the beautiful woman with you, Valdés?" Olivia looked at the woman hiding behind her son's body.

"She is Morana Hartley."

"Are you going to marry her?" Olivia asked Valdés, who was silent. "Will you marry Valdés, Mora?"

Mora was surprised to get a question from Valdés' mother. Olivia let go of Valdés's hand and tried to grab Mora's hand. Mora approached Valdés' mother slowly. "Since when have you two been in a relationship? Valdés never told me anything anymore; I often asked him when he got married. And when Valdés came with you, I felt like I got a surprise."

Mora didn't know what to do; she just kept smiling and nodding. Olivia, Valdés' mother, had high hopes that Mora and Valdés would have a real wedding when, in fact, they wanted to have a fake wedding. It was too difficult to explain this misunderstanding, so Mora tried to glance at Valdés for help. Honestly, she was confused, but seeing Valdés' face so flat also made her look confused.

"Mother, me and Mora." Valdés paused his words again. There was no way he could suddenly tell his mother that he and Mora were only going to pretend to be married and had already made a black-and-white agreement.

For the past few years, Olivia had had the ambition to see her son get married. Olivia's health was getting worse every year; her wish was to see her only son, Valdés, have a wife soon.

"I will marry Mora as soon as possible," Valdés broke off, putting a big smile on his mother Olivia's face.

"Soon Valdés. I want your wedding to be so grand."

Mora trembled even more as Valdés' mother said that Olivia wanted to organize a lavish wedding party for her and Valdés. And a church wedding blessing witnessed by the priest who baptized Valdés.

This fake wedding obviously couldn't have a church blessing! Mora could not lie before God. This was really a disaster for Mora; there was no way she could tell Olivia that she and Valdés had signed a fake marriage contract.

"Valdés, what should we do?" Mora whispered. Because there was no way she could say this out loud when Valdés' mother had just fallen asleep.

"Mora let the marriage go ahead; my mother must not know the reason. Let my mother feel happy seeing us get married, and don't let her know about the contract we signed." Valdés said in a cold tone as if threatening Allie. She couldn't do anything about her mother; Valdés didn't want her mother's health to get worse.

"No, no, Valdés, this has gone too far. Marriage is not to be played with," Mora complained.

"Let's just say we're getting married for real; what's the big deal?" Valdés said lightly, not caring about Mora, who was already frozen and had a distressed face.

"How can it be like this!"

***

A week after the divorce trial, Mora and Carlos received their verdict. She was officially divorced, and now Mora had to perform the wedding that Valdés had prepared just like Olivia wanted.

It could no longer be called a fake wedding. The invitations for her and Valdés' real wedding had spread, and Valdés couldn't refuse his mother's wishes, including holding a lavish wedding party and blessing a famous church in New York.

The plan that Mora had originally laid out neatly had to be changed. She couldn't believe she would get married so soon and be blessed by God.

Standing at the altar with Valdés, who was also immaculately dressed in a suit that matched Mora's wedding dress,

Mora felt panic and anxiety, repeatedly squeezing her hands.

Although this was not her first wedding, Mora tried to stay calm and cheerful. Several times, she saw Olivia, Valdés' mother, looking at her with a happy smile. The blessing was witnessed by almost all of Valdés' important clients, and people Mora didn't recognize at all. She tried to smile and loudly replied to the holy vows that Valdés said first.

"Valdés, what should we do?" Mora whispered with her hand wrapped around Valdés' arm. She smiled as the camera flashed towards her and Valdés.

"Stop worrying about this, Mora. I can't go against my mother's wishes; you can rest assured that I won't forget our agreement," Valdés replied with his baritone voice whispering in Mora's ear like he wanted to kiss.

Mora's hand only held the bouquet tightly. With every step she took, she hoped it was just a dream. Mora was still traumatized by marriage, but she still couldn't forget the betrayal. Mora bit her lip, her legs were trembling and she wanted to run away.

Without realizing it, Valdés silently watched her face. Those bright brown eyes continued to stare fixedly at Mora's face; Valdés did not expect Mora's beauty to radiate even more when he saw her in such a charming wedding dress.

Allie was wearing a sleeveless wedding dress. Her shoulders were open, and the dress was covered with diamonds that made Mora look more luxurious and valuable. Valdés' attention moved to the dark blue heart-shaped necklace that his mother gave to Mora as a wedding gift.
