"Your time is not over," the Goddess whispered. "You have been wronged, my child, and I will not let your story end this way. You will have a second chance."
The light grew brighter, blinding her and filling her with warmth and strength. And then, with a sudden force, Sandra was pulled from the void and thrust into a new world-a new body.
She gasped.
Her fingers clawed at the ground beneath her-a soft, powdery dust that felt nothing like the damp, hard earth of Mystic Forest where she had died.
She blinked against the disorienting swirl of emotions, her mind struggling to catch up with the impossibility before her.
The memory hit her like a tidal wave-sharp, searing, and unavoidable. Daniel's lifeless body, The bond they had shared, his lips turning blue, poison coursing through his veins.
Her heart, still aching with the pain of her past life, drummed frantically against her chest. Daniel, her mate, was gone. Lucy, her sister, was missing.
She had let them both down.
Worse still, she had died as a traitor, condemned for a crime she hadn't committed, her reputation torn to shreds in the eyes of those she had once called family.
Her breathing slowed, and she caught her reflection in the grimy, cracked mirror on the ground.
For a fleeting moment, hope fluttered in her chest like the wings of a broken bird; she thought it might still be her face, the one she'd known all her life.
But when her eyes truly locked onto the reflection, the breath left her body in a violent rush, the image staring back was a stranger-a woman with sharp, predatory eyes, a warrior's stance, and raven-black hair cascading down her back.
Sandra blinked and touched her face, her fingers trembling as they traced unfamiliar features.
She wasn't Sandra anymore. She was "Emilia" now.
The stories of Emilia had spread far beyond the borders of any single pack, tales of a fierce and deadly fighter whose name sent shivers down the spines of even the bravest wolves.
Emilia had been a legend, a ghost. And now, Sandra was trapped in her skin, wearing it like a mask that didn't quite fit. It was suffocating and disorienting.
She felt the strength in Emilia's body, the raw power coursing through she had never possessed in her own life,.It wasn't hers. It didn't belong to her.
Memories of battlegrounds and battles conquered flashed through Sandra, as well as memories of how Emilia sacrificed herself by absorbing and bonding her life to the beast(two tails) for the greater cause of her people and the entire wolf pack system.
These memories Rushed through her just like in a dream, except this time, It was Reality.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps, heavy and deliberate, coming from behind the thick wooden door.
A sharp creak broke the silence as it swung open, and a man stepped in, his silhouette cast long against the moonlit room.
His eyes-sharp and suspicious-narrowed as they landed on her.
He was tall, with a lean frame, his dark hair tied back and a frown etched deep into his face.
His presence was commanding but not overwhelming, like a storm that had not yet hit its peak.
He stepped forward, his voice gravelly and edged with mistrust. "Who the hell are you?"
I-" Sandra faltered, her thoughts spinning. What could she say? That she'd woken up in someone else's body? That the Moon Goddess herself had given her a second chance? She swallowed hard, trying to steady her voice. "I don't remember."
"I... I don't know," Sandra stammered.
The man's frown deepened, his gaze sweeping over her with suspicion. His nostrils flared as if he was trying to scent the truth from her skin.
"You're on Oakland territory. No one crosses our borders without permission."
His amber eyes flickered, barely containing his wolf beneath the surface. "How did you get here?"
Sandra swallowed hard, panic rising in her chest. She had no idea of how she had gotten here, only the blinding agony of her death and the horrific moments of her rebirth.
"I woke up here," she barely said, her voice shaking. "I don't remember anything before that."
The man tilted his head, obviously unconvinced. His lips pulled into a sneer.
"How convenient. Lost memory, but for whatever reason you decided to just wander onto one of the most heavily defended territories."
"I'm telling you the truth," Sandra insisted, though the words felt hollow even to her.
She was lying by omission, but how could she put into words that hers was an impossible situation?
That she had been reborn into the body of a dead woman, and that she had her mission-to find the real killer of her fated mate and find her missing sister? The truth sounded insane even to her.
The man's gaze hardened, and his mouth twisted in disgust."I'm Gabriel, Beta of Oakland. And until we figure out who you are and what you're doing here, you're not going anywhere."
Gabriel. Sandra's heart skipped a beat. She had heard that name before, whispered in stories about the ruthless right-hand man of Alpha Mikel.
Gabriel was known for his loyalty, his dedicated commitment to the Alpha, and his brutal efficiency. If there was anyone she needed to avoid suspicion from, it was him.
Gabriel took a step closer, towering over her, his presence suffocating. "You don't belong here," he snarled. "And if you think you can lie your way out of this, you're mistaken.
The Alpha "Mikel" will want to know what we've dragged in."
Her gut twisted at the mention of the Alpha. She'd not previously met Mikel, but his reputation as one of the region's most formidable Alphas made her skin crawl.
Sandra had to keep her true identity hidden until she learned more about the world. Until she knew whom she could trust.
"I'm not lying," she whispered, her voice barely heard.
"I don't know what happened."
Gabriel stared at her for a long time, his eyes striking through her with such intensity that she wanted to shrink away. But then his gaze softened slightly, and he straightened, pulling back a little.
"We'll see," he replied, his tone less hostile but still suspicious. "Come with me." We're headed to the pack house.
Sandra didn't argue. What choice did she have? She followed Gabriel out of the temple, her legs shaky and her thoughts filled with unanswered matters.
The air was cool outside, and the moon threw an eerie glow over the dense forest surrounding the temple.
Sandra's keen senses detected the subtle rustle of leaves, distant wolf calls, and the rhythmic beat of her footsteps.
Every sound felt heightened, her head buzzing with newfound awareness.
Emilia's body was sharper, faster, and stronger than Sandra had ever been. But it wasn't just physical strength she felt. There was something else.
A dark, primal power simmered beneath the surface, something wild and untamed.
"You're not alone", a voice whispered in her mind, cold and sinister."I'm with you."
Sandra's breath caught in her throat.
The dark wolf spirit within Emilia was awake, and it was more than a shadow in the back of her mind. It was "alive", watching, waiting.
She pressed a to her chest tightly, trying to slow her racing heart. She had no idea how much control she had over the wolf inside her, and the prospect of surrendering herself to that darkness frightened her. But for now, she needed to focus on survival.
As they approached the packhouse, a vast, imposing building made of stone and wood, Gabriel led her through the front doors without saying a word.
The interior of the home was dimly lit, but remarkable in its way, with high ceilings and walls covered with Oakland Pack emblems.
The air was filled with the scent of wolves, serving as a constant reminder of the strength that dwelt within these walls.
Gabriel led her along a long corridor, his stride purposeful and unwavering
Sandra quietly followed, her thoughts racing as she tried to piece together what had happened to her, what had happened to Emilia. How did she end up in this body? .And why?
As They reached a room at the end of the hall, Gabriel opened the door, motioning for her to enter. Sandra hesitated for a bit before entering.
The room was lightly furnished, with a single bed, a chair, and a small window that allowed in just enough moonlight to brighten. The atmosphere felt chilly and unwelcoming, but she couldn't help but embrace it.
"You'll stay here," Gabriel said, his tone leaving no room for disagreement.
"The Alpha will want to speak with you soon."
Sandra's heart skipped at the mention of the Alpha again. Her stomach twisted into knots, but she managed to nod.
Gabriel paused to watch her a little longer before exiting the room and firmly shutting the door behind him.
As soon as she was alone, Sandra let out a trembling breath and sat down on the bed's edge. Her mind was filled with fear, confusion, and the weight of the mission the Moon Goddess had bestowed upon her.
She had been given a second chance to find justice for Daniel and to save her sister.
But now she was trapped in hostile territory, encircled by wolves who were capable of dismembering her if they found out the truth.
And yet, something about the dark power within her whispered that she wasn't helpless. Not anymore.
"Embrace it", the voice urged, soft and insidious. "Let it out."
Sandra squeezed her eyes shut, resisting the temptation. She couldn't lose herself to that power. Not now.
She lay down on the bed, the soft mattress offering little comfort as she looked up at the ceiling.
Her thoughts drifted to Daniel-her mate, her love, the man who had been from her so cruelly. And Lucy. Her beloved sister was lost and alone somewhere in the world. Sandra needed to find her. She needed to save her.
The door creaked open slightly, startling Sandra from her thoughhhhhhhts. She didn't turn to look but kept her body tense.
"Mikel wants to see you tomorrow," came Gabriel's low voice from the hallway.
Sandra's breath hitched. She didn't respond, just nodded, though she knew he couldn't see it.
The door closed once again, leaving her alone with her racing thoughts.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow, she will meet Alpha Mikel!
