Chapter 5 The plan

Chapter 005

"Dad..." Hailey's voice was rapidly losing hope. "What should I do now?

She reluctantly sat down on the couch, wiping her tears away with her hands.

"Don't worry, sweetheart. I am working on another plan." Daphne said, forcing herself to maintain her composure though she really wanted to kill her husband's niece. Brianna had just embarrassed her in front of John and Hailey.

She won't let her win this time. She would undergo plastic surgery by hook or by crook.

In the comfort of her own bed, Brianna cried her heart out, burying her face in the pillow. She didn't expect that the people she considered to be her family act in such a manner towards her and her father.

Her pillow was now soaking wet with tears, gripping it as her chest tightened upon recalling their demand for them to pay for her father's surgery.

She hiccupped as she lay on her back, thinking about her father's situation right now. She should take action as soon as possible before it's too late. She needed to find a way to pay for her father's surgery.

But just how was she able to find two hundred thousand bucks in such a short amount of time?

Determined to save her dad, she rolled out of bed and wiped her tears away before she walked straight into the bathroom.

"Prepare yourself now. She's going out anytime to visit her father in the hospital." Daphne was making a phone call with the person she hired to carry out her plan on Brianna.

"Of course! I've been here outside your house the moment Blake Miller leaves. I am waiting for her to come out." the hired man answered with a smirk.

"Very good, Bruno. I will deposit the full payment in your account once you have completed the assignment." her final words before she hung up the phone.

Brianna stepped out of her room, clad in a simple white dress, crossing paths with Claire in the narrow hallway.

"Where are you going?" Claire asked with concern, grabbing her hand and squeezing it warmly. "Are you okay?" She heard Brianna's conversation earlier with the Parkers, and she couldn't help but feel worried for her.

Claire was well aware how evil and wicked Daphne was. She had been working with them ever since she was sixteen years old-even when Daphne wasn't married to John yet. And she witnessed how she mistreated the other maids including her.

So, the idea of Brianna having plastic surgery in order to replicate Hailey's appearance was undoubtedly Daphne's idea. She also overheard that marrying Blake Miller would be beneficial to the expansion of her business, and that he would be a huge step in the right direction toward bringing the Parkers more prominence.

"I'm fine." Brianna smiled weakly. "I'll visit dad." The thought of her father made tears instantly well up in her eyes. She didn't tell Claire that she would go out to look for money. That she would make money in any way just to save her father.

"Here, take this." Claire reached into the pocket of her apron and retrieved some cash, which then she forcefully handed it to her. "It's not that much, but I know this will help you and your dad."

"No. Please Claire, keep it. I know you need money too." Brianna pushed her hand away. She was fully aware of the fact that Claire was a single mother and also saving money for her daughter.

"But Brianna..."

"It's okay, Claire. I will be okay."

"This is for your dad. He has been very nice to me, and I would like to repay his generosity, so please..." Claire remembered the time when her daughter was brought to the hospital when she suffered from gastroenteritis, Rob was the first person who helped her financially.

Brianna sighed defeatedly. "I'll pay for this, Claire."

A sad look swept over Claire's face as she nodded reluctantly.

Brianna stuffed the money into her bag, and clutched it tightly as she started to walk upstairs to the first floor of the house, when she noticed Hailey standing in the center of the living room as if she was waiting for her to come out.

"I want you to make me an orange juice right now!" she grunted out, crossing her arms over her chest as she glared at Brianna, scanning her body up and down. "And where the hell are you going? Did you ask permission from any of us?"

"I'll make an orange juice for you, Miss Hailey." Claire remarked, who was following behind Brianna, but Hailey's manicured hand raised to stop her.

"Shut up, Claire! I want Brianna to prepare it for me!" She shot Claire a warning glare, and the latter scurried away, but not before sending Brianna an apologetic look which made Hailey to roll her eyes.

"Claire, wait!" Daphne, who was just descending the stairs, called Claire. "Get Hailey her orange juice, and you!" she pointed at Brianna. "You can go now. I know you're going to visit your father."

Brianna had to leave now because someone was waiting for her outside to carry out Daphne's plan, and Hailey was trying to stop it, making her the want to throttle her stepdaughter's beautiful neck. Daphne had to remind herself that Hailey was completely unaware of what she was planning.

"But mom, I want her to make it!" Hailey's eyes darkened in rage, stomping her feet as she walked towards Brianna, and pushed her into the kitchen. "Go! Do it! I want fresh orange juice, okay?"

"Hailey!" Daphne groaned in annoyance as she watched Brianna pad her way into the kitchen to follow Hailey's order. "You know what? I'm not buying the latest Louis Vuitton bag for you anymore!"

Before Hailey could even make any protest, Daphne left her stepdaughter and made her way back upstairs. She positioned by the window and waited for Brianna to come out of the house.

In the event that her strategy won't be successful this time, she would have to devise an alternative plan, and the mere thought made her clench her fists in fierce anger.

They were running out of time. What if Blake would call Hailey any minute now, and ask her to come to his penthouse?

"Damn!" she screamed, picking up the lamp and smashing it on the floor, sending millions of shards plummeting to the ground.

Daphne stared at the destruction she made, panting and out of breath.

Blowing out a shaky breath, she slowly went back to stand by the window, her face was red from rage.

Brianna quickly made an orange juice for Hailey, but when she handed it to her, she purposely tipped the glass off her hand.

"Oh my God! You're so clumsy, Brianna!" Hailey's tone was one of mockery, and a wicked smile plastered on her lips. Her stepmother's threat didn't waver her in the least. She could buy the latest Louis Vuitton on her own because her credit cards have no limit.

The orange liquid made a stain on Brianna's white dress and the glass shattered on the marble tiled floor.

"I'm sorry." Brianna shook her head and began to carefully pick up the shards of glass and then strode back into the kitchen to throw it in the trash.

"What happened?" Claire asked when she noticed the glass and stain on her dress.

Brianna heaved a heavy sigh. "Hailey purposely knocked it over."

Claire shook her head in disappointment. "She hasn't tied the knot with Blake Miller yet, but I already feel bad for him."

Brianna shrugged, wiping her dress with a damp cloth, trying to remove the stain from her dress. She didn't care about Hailey marrying Blake. All she thinks right now was her dad fighting for his life.

"I'll use the backdoor to escape, Claire." the idea suddenly popped in her mind.

"Are you sure? What if Hailey catches you?" she was just worried Hailey might hurt Brianna again once she caught her escaping.

"Yes. I really need to see dad. Can you make her an orange juice again? You destruct her while I escape."

"Okay." Claire nodded, making another orange juice for Hailey. "Please take care of yourself, Brianna."

"I will. Thanks, Claire!" Brianna hurriedly opened the back door, and she rushed towards the gate. Daphne who had been waiting at the window in her room, let out a sigh of relief after seeing Brianna's successful escape from Hailey.

Finally, her plan would be executed.
