Chapter 4 She Will Be Mine Again.

"Did you success to make Kyle want to come back to you?"

I snorted at Zeeva's question from the phone call. I remembered Kyle's attitude that chased me away, as well as the presence of the other man at the restaurant.

Before I decided to come to this city, I had agreed with Zeeva to bring Kyle back. We wanted the child in Kyle's womb and made sure that Kyle had a son.

This is the only way I can keep the company inherited from my grandfather. Moreover, Kyle's face closely resembles Zevanna's-I can fool my grandfather by making her my pretend wife.

"I failed to persuade her, Zeeva," I said uneasily.

Zeeva also let out a frustrated sigh. "You have to persuade her, Darling. Otherwise, we can't convince your parents."

"I know! But you didn't witness how Kyle kicked me out, and I even got slapped by her," I replied.

Actually, my heart was throbbing with pain after getting slapped by Kyle. I really didn't expect her attitude to me have changed so drastically.

Didn't Kyle love me? All this time, Kyle never dared to act like that.

She should have welcomed me, treated me warmly like before, and told me that she still loved me. Now, why is there no warmth anymore?

"Kyle has changed completely. I almost don't recognize her now," I said in an almost tearful tone.

"Of course she's acting like that to you. I told you, it won't be easy to get her attention after what you've done," Zeeva said.

I already knew that risk. Unfortunately, I thought Kyle would be able to forgive me.

"Yeah, right, I was just... surprised. He should still be the woman who loves me," I replied listlessly-wait, why do I feel uncomfortable?

"Honey? You're didn't get sad because Kyle might not love you anymore, are you?" Zeeva asked, her tone suspicious.

Instantly I came to my senses. I immediately shook my head while cursing myself.

Damn it! I only needed the child in Kyle's womb. I shouldn't be thinking about whether Kyle still loved me or not.

"Of course I don't. I don't care about Kyle's feelings for me."

"But why do you sound like you regret that Kyle doesn't love you anymore?" Zeeva sounded even more urgent.

"I don't. All I need is the child in her womb so I can get the inheritance and keep hold of the Dore company," I said confidently.

"All right, sweetheart. Just remember, you don't need Kyle, you only need the child in his womb," Zeeva said as if threatening me.

I knew I shouldn't feel uncomfortable seeing another man protecting Kyle. Even though it felt like something was missing inside me. I used to believe Kyle wouldn't love another man-his feelings were only for me.

Now, it's as if I'm not willing to let another man be with Kyle. If Kyle didn't want to come back with me and chose to be with that man, my son would love another man more.

That can't happen.

"Let's end this phone conversation, Zeeva. I want to rest after all that happen."

Before Zeeva could answer, I turned off the phone.

I then lay down on the sofa and left my phone lying there. I looked up at the ceiling of the rental house's living room.

"Mr. Joenathan. I've gotten the information about the man you requested."

My gaze shifted to Leo, my personal secretary, who handed me a document. I straightened up and began to open the document.

"His name is Anthony Scoutt? He owns a retail company with 100 branches in several countries?" I read the bio of the man who protected Kyle at the restaurant earlier.

My curiosity grew even more. I didn't know that Kyle could be close to a man who owns a big company.

Why did I feel threatened?

Why did I feel Anthony shouldn't be next to Kyle-that should be me, right?

"Why do you look uneasy because of this man, Mr. Joenathan?" Leo asked me.

I rubbed my face and looked up.

"Do you think Kyle would choose this man over me?" I asked.

I saw Leo frown, both surprised and astonished at my question.

"I don't think Mrs. Kyle would choose another man so easily, Mr. Joenathan. A pregnant woman would most likely be more focused on taking care of her baby," Leo said.

I nodded my head in understanding. What Leo said made sense.

I feel relieved-wait, why do I feel relieved? Why did I have to think about whether Kyle would choose Anthony or me?

"Mr. Joenathan, are you... feeling threatened? You only act like this if you feel threatened by someone," Leo said carefully.

Leo's question instantly brought me to my senses.

After I heard Leo's question, I tried to get rid of my anxiety. I immediately shook my head firmly at Leo.

"Of course not. Why should I feel threatened by another man? If Kyle is going to choose Anthony, that's Kyle's right." I answered confidently.

Leo looked unconvinced and believed my answer.

Since I didn't want Leo to get suspicious, I put on an even more convincing face. I deliberately looked annoyed at him for accusing me.

"Hey, I don't love Kyle. I just don't want Kyle's unborn child to be closer to Anthony."

"Yes, Mrs. Kyle's child should be closer to you-his biological father."

I snapped my fingers as I nodded in agreement. It was a relief that Leo's suspicions had started to diminish.

"I have to get the child in Kyle's womb and make sure Kyle doesn't get close to another man," I said firmly.

I heard Leo let out a long sigh.

"You must approach Mrs. Kyle slowly, Mr. Joenathan. It seems like she hates you already," Leo explained.

"I'm sure Kyle still has some love for me. I just need a little time to cultivate it again."

"Then, what are you going to do about this man?" Leo asked while pointing at the folder of documents about Anthony.

I thought for a moment as I looked at the documents about Anthony. I really wanted to get rid of him from Kyle, but how?

"Leo, find out what Anthony's problem or past is. I need that so Kyle doesn't trust him anymore."

"Mr. Joenathan, can I ask you something?"

I stopped my movement and looked at Leo. In that instant I realized that Leo was looking at me with suspicion.

"What?"

"Why are you targeting Anthony? Are you jealous after seeing Kyle with Anthony?"

I spontaneously furrowed my eyebrows. Leo's question was a bit awkward, and I felt like Leo was thinking something about me.

But Leo's question also made me realize my own feelings. I felt disturbed when I found out Anthony was protecting Kyle.

Since when were they together?

I remembered all the times Kyle loved me that I thought he couldn't be with another man. Today, knowing there was another man taking my place, I was a little threatened.

I couldn't fail to get Kyle back.

"Jealous? Of course not," I replied with a laugh. "I need to get Kyle, Leo. You know, it's the only way I can keep my family's legacy."

"But you seem so intent on bringing Anthony down. You're not doing that because you love Mrs. Kyle, are you?"

For a moment, I flinched. I suddenly doubted my own feelings after Leo asked that. But on the other hand, there was a side of me that still denied that I loved Kyle.

I was only forced to marry him because of his face who looks a lot like Zeeva. Since I had already announced my marriage to Zeeva when she disappeared, I used Kyle as a substitute bride.

"Leo, you know what my plan is. I just want the inheritance from my grandfather, that's why I'm still going through with the marriage. Even if it's not with Zeeva."

I heard Leo let out a long sigh. I caught a glimpse of him as if he was thinking about something.

"That's right. I'm just worried if you really love Mrs. Kyle. Because that would affect Mrs. Zeeva," Leo replied.

"Yes, I couldn't possibly leave Zeeva after two years of waiting for her. I still love her," I said confidently.

"Mr. Joenathan, what are you going to do about Anthony?"

Once again I was silent. I thought seriously about my own plans. I honestly wanted to do many things to Anthony. Unfortunately, all I could think about was the risk of my actions.

"Most importantly, I have to make Kyle and Anthony not be together anymore. If they stay together, Anthony will be the one who stands in Kyle's way."

"What if you fail to do that? It seems like Mrs. Kyle and Anthony have a very close relationship," Leo said doubtfully.

My smile curved automatically at the thought of my plan succeeding.

"I feel like my plan can't fail. Because in the end, Anthony and Kyle will separate. Kyle will be mine again."
