Chapter 4 The Agreement

The decision was made, and with it came a strange sense of finality. Racheal felt as though she had taken a step into the unknown, a leap that would change her life forever. As she sat at her desk in the library, she could feel her heart racing, unsure whether she had made the right choice.

Her phone buzzed again, snapping her from her thoughts. Francis's message was simple, but it carried an undeniable weight.

"I'll send a car for you in one hour. Be ready."

Her breath caught in her throat. One hour. That was it.

Racheal's fingers hovered over her phone as her mind scrambled to process the reality of the situation. She had agreed to marry him, and now, in less than sixty minutes, her life would begin to change in ways she couldn't even begin to imagine. She had no idea what to expect-what he expected from her, or what she would find when she arrived at his place.

What had she gotten herself into?

Still, there was no turning back. She knew that now.

She quickly gathered her things, taking a moment to smooth down her blouse and adjust her skirt. Her hands shook as she grabbed her coat, the nerves in her stomach threatening to make her sick. It wasn't like she had a choice-she had to do this. She had agreed, and this was her new reality.

A car pulled up outside the library just as the hour was up. Racheal stepped outside, the cool breeze brushing her face as she walked toward the black SUV that had arrived to pick her up. The driver, a tall, sharp-looking man in a suit, opened the door for her with a polite nod.

"Miss Racheal?" he asked, his voice soft yet firm.

"Yes," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

The drive to Francis's estate felt like an eternity. Racheal tried to steady her breathing, but her mind was consumed with questions and doubts. What would it be like to live with him? What kind of life would she have as his wife? Could she even do this? Her heart wavered, but she had made a choice. She had to stick to it.

Finally, the car pulled up to a massive, gated estate. The grounds were vast, sprawling as far as the eye could see. The mansion stood tall, its marble exterior gleaming in the afternoon sun. It was everything she had imagined-opulent, cold, and utterly beyond her reach. Yet, here she was, about to step into this world that felt both foreign and inevitable.

The driver escorted her to the front door, where an elegant butler greeted her and ushered her inside. The interior of the house was just as grand as the outside-rich, polished wood floors, towering ceilings, and furniture that looked like it belonged in a palace. It was the kind of place Racheal had only ever seen in magazines.

"You'll find Mr. Blackwood in the study," the butler said with a nod.

Racheal nodded, her heart beating faster with every step she took toward the study. She couldn't deny the feeling of being out of place, like a small fish in an ocean of wealth and power. But she had to do this. There was no going back.

When she reached the door, she paused for a moment, taking a deep breath. She knocked lightly, and without waiting for a response, the door swung open to reveal Francis sitting behind a large desk, looking as commanding and immaculate as ever.

"Racheal," he said, his voice low and measured. "I trust you've made up your mind?"

She nodded, stepping into the room, her heart pounding in her chest. "Yes, Mr. Blackwood. I'm here."

Francis stood up and walked toward her, his gaze intense, studying her with a hint of approval. "Good. This is the first step, then. You've made the right choice."

He gestured for her to sit, and she obeyed, her hands resting nervously on her lap.

"I'll have the paperwork prepared," Francis continued, his voice smooth and commanding. "Once you sign, the agreement will be official. From this moment on, you'll be part of the Blackwood family, in name and in life."

Racheal swallowed hard. It was happening. Her life was about to be written in a new chapter, one that she couldn't predict.

"Are you ready?" he asked, his eyes locking onto hers, searching for any sign of doubt.

"I'm ready," she said, her voice steadier than she felt.

Francis nodded, his lips curving into a faint smile. "Then let's make it official."
